Electrode/Electrolyte Optimization-Induced Double-Layered Architecture for High-Performance Aqueous Zinc-(Dual) Halogen Batteries

A double-layered protective film based on zinc-based coordination compound and ZnF2-rich solid electrolyte interphase layer has been successfully fabricated on the zinc metal anode via electrode/electrolyte synergistic *** double-layered architecture can effectively modulate Zn2+ flux and suppress the zinc dendrite growth, thus facilitating the uniform zinc *** as-developed zinc-(dual) halogen batteries based on double-layered protective film can present high areal capacity and satisfactory cycling stability. Aqueous zinc-halogen batteries are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage due to their abundant resources, intrinsic safety, and high theoretical capacity. Nevertheless, the uncontrollable zinc dendrite growth and spontaneous shuttle effect of active species have prohibited their practical implementation. Herein, a double-layered protective film based on zinc-ethylenediamine tetramethylene phosphonic acid (ZEA) artificial film and ZnF2-rich solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer has been successfully fabricated on the zinc metal anode via electrode/electrolyte synergistic optimization. The ZEA-based artificial film shows strong affinity for the ZnF2-rich SEI layer, therefore effectively suppressing the SEI breakage and facilitating the construction of double-layered protective film on the zinc metal anode. Such double-layered architecture not only modulates Zn2+ flux and suppresses the zinc dendrite growth, but also blocks the direct contact between the metal anode and electrolyte, thus mitigating the corrosion from the active species. When employing optimized metal anodes and electrolytes, the as-developed zinc-(dual) halogen batteries present high areal capacity and satisfactory cycling stability. This work provides a new avenue for developing aqueous zinc-(dual) halogen batteries.

Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines have been successfully synthesized in moderate to good yields via a tandem three- component reaction of ethyl 2-（3-oxo-3-arylpropanethioamido）acetates with aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile by means of microwave irradiation using DABCO as the catalyst. The advantages of this method including high chemo- and regioselectivity make this new strategy highly attractive.

Exploring Fragment Adding Strategies to Enhance Molecule Pretraining in AI-Driven Drug Discovery

The effectiveness of Al-driven drug discovery can be enhanced by pretraining on small molecules. However, the conventional masked language model pretraining techniques are not suitable for molecule pretraining due to the limited vocabulary size and the non-sequential structure of molecules. To overcome these challenges, we propose FragAdd, a strategy that involves adding a chemically implausible molecular fragment to the input molecule. This approach allows for the incorporation of rich local information and the generation of a high-quality graph representation, which is advantageous for tasks like virtual screening. Consequently, we have developed a virtual screening protocol that focuses on identifying estrogen receptor alpha binders on a nucleus receptor. Our results demonstrate a significant improvement in the binding capacity of the retrieved molecules. Additionally, we demonstrate that the FragAdd strategy can be combined with other self-supervised methods to further expedite the drug discovery process.

Microstructure, Mechanical and Wear Resistance Properties of AlCoCrFeNi_2.1-xNi₃Al Eutectic High-Entropy Alloy Matrix Composites

AlCoCrFeNi2.1-xNi(3)Al (x = 0, 5.0, 7.5, and 10 wt%, denoted as Ni(3)Al0, Ni(3)Al5.0, Ni(3)Al7.5, and Ni(3)Al10) eutectic high-entropy alloy (EHEA) matrix composites were fabricated by mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering methods. The effects of Ni3Al content on the microstructures, mechanical and wear properties of AlCoCrFeNi2.1 EHEA were investigated. The results indicate that the AlCoCrFeNi2.1-xNi(3)Al composites present cellular grid morphologies composing of FCC/Ll(2) and B2 phases, and a small amount of Al2O3 and Cr7C3 phases. The addition of Ni3Al significantly enhanced the compressive yield strength, compressive fracture strength, compressive strain and wear properties of the AlCoCrFeNi2.1 composites. In particular, the Ni(3)Al10 composite exhibits excellent comprehensive mechanical properties. The compressive yield strength, compressive fracture strength and compressive strain of the Ni(3)Al10 composite, are 1845 MPa, 2301 MPa and 10.1%, respectively. The friction coefficient, wear width and depth, and mass loss of the Ni(3)Al10 composite were 0.40, 0.9 mm, 20.5 mm, 0.016 g, respectively. Moreover, the wear mechanism of the Ni(3)Al10 composite is major abrasive wear with a small amount of adhesive wear.

Simulation of Multi-component Multi-stage Separation Process ——An Improved Algorithm and Application

This paper presents a flexible model and a robust algorithm for simulation of multi-stage multi-component separation processes in which multiple feeds, side streams, strippers and/or side heat exchangers are involved. The improved algorithm effectively accelerates the speed of convergence and offers better stability by introducing a damping factor for updating the stripping factor, and also reduces the requirement on the initial estimates by updating the Joacobian matrix directly with the stripping factor and enthalpy. On the other hand, an efficient algorithm was proposed to solve the approximate tri-diagonal matrix (containing the off-band elements) derived from the material balance equations (M equations) and phase equilibrium equations (E equations), the advantages and simplicity of the “insideout” technique of the Russell are retained. The present algorithm was demonstrated to be effective in simulating complex separation columns with typical case studies.

Highly dispersed Pd nanoparticles in situ reduced and stabilized by nitrogen-alkali lignin-doped phenolic nanospheres and their application in vanillin hydrodeoxygenation

Herein, we introduced a nitrogen-alkali lignin-doped phenolic resin (N@AL(n)PR) to produce palladium nanoparticles through an in situ reduction of palladium in an aqueous phase, without the need for additional reagents or a reducing atmosphere. The phenolic resin nanospheres and the resulting palladium nanoparticles were extensively characterized. Alkali lignin created a highly conducive environment for nitrogen incorporation, dispersion, reduction, and stabilization of palladium, leading to a distinct catalytic performance of palladium nanoparticles in vanillin hydrodeoxygenation. Under specific conditions of 1 mmol of vanillin, 40 mg of catalyst, 1 MPa H-2, 90 degrees C, and 3 h, the optimized Pd/N@AL(30)PR catalyst exhibited a nearly complete conversion of vanillin, 98.9% selectivity toward p-creosol, and good stability for multiple reuses. Consequently, an environmentally friendly lignin-based catalyst was developed and used for the efficient hydrodeoxygenation conversion of lignin-based platform compounds.

Structural Optimization of a Novel Up-run Gas-solid Separator

A new gas-solid separator dedicated to heavy-oil fast pyrolysis process incorporating inertial and centrifugal separation was designed. Gas and typical fluid catalytic cracking （FCC） catalyst particles （with a density of 1500 kg/m3, and a mean diameter of 45.81 p.m） were used in the study. The inlet gas velocity was kept constant at 13.36 m/s, while the solid loading at the inlet ranged from 0 to 700 g/m3. When the exhaust pipe opening was provided with two narrow-width slots near the inlet without baffles, the solid collection efficiency increased with an increasing solid loading at the inlet and was close to 95% along with a decreasing pressure drop. After increasing the secondary separation structure, the separation efficiency greatly improved. By adjusting the diameter of the secondary exhaust pipe, the separation efficiency and pressure drop could be balanced. Under the experimental conditions, when the diameter of the second exhaust pipe was equal to d=100 mm, the pressure drop was lower than 1400 Pa while the separation efficiency could exceed 99.50%; and when the diameter was equal to d=120 mm, the pressure drop was less than 700 Pa, with the separation efficiency reaching over 99.00%.
