Cellulose nanofiber-derived carbon aerogel for advanced room-temperature sodium–sulfur batteries

Room-temperature sodium–sulfur(RT/Na–S)batteries are regarded as promising large-scale stationary energy storage systems owing to their high energy density and low cost as well as the earth-abundant reserves of sodium and ***,the diffusion of polysulfides and sluggish kinetics of conversion reactions are still major challenges for their ***,we developed a powerful and functional separator to inhibit the shuttle effect by coating a lightweight three-dimensional cellulose nanofiber-derived carbon aerogel on a glass fiber separator(denoted NSCA@GF).The hierarchical porous structures,favorable electronic conductivity,and three-dimensional interconnected network of N,S-codoped carbon aerogel endow a multifunctional separator with strong polysulfide anchoring capability and fast reaction kinetics of polysulfide conversion,which can act as the barrier layer and an expanded current collector to increase sulfur ***,the hetero-doped N/S sites are believed to strengthen polysulfide anchoring capability via chemisorption and accelerate the redox kinetics of polysulfide conversion,which is confirmed from experimental and theoretical *** a result,the assembled Na–S coin cells with the NSCA@GF separator showed a high reversible capacity(788.8 mAh g^(−1) at 0.1 C after 100 cycles)and superior cycling stability(only 0.059%capacity decay per cycle over 1000 cycles at 1 C),thereby demonstrating the significant potential for application in high-performance RT/Na–S batteries.

Effects of Water-retaining Agents on Growth, Development, Yield and Quality of Soybean under Drought Stress

[Objectives]The paper was to explore the effects of different doses of water-retaining agent on the growth and development indicators,yield and quality of soybean plants subjected to drought stress.[Methods]The effects of drought stress(MDS)and drought stress with low(MDS-L),medium(MDS-M)and high doses(MDS-H)of the water-retaining agent on the growth and development indicators,root activity,MDA content,antioxidant enzyme activity,yield and quality of soybean were studied by field plot test,with the normal water supply serving as the control(CK).[Results]In response to drought stress,the plant height,stem diameter,and yield of soybean exhibited a notable ***,the contents of protein,fat,linoleic acid,and linolenic acid in seeds demonstrated a significant ***,the root activity and antioxidant enzyme activity exhibited a noticeable decline,while the MDA content exhibited an *** application of varying doses of the water-retaining agent was found to significantly enhance soybean growth,stimulate root activity,and elevate antioxidant enzyme activity,while concurrently reducing MDA *** observed effects were found to be dose-dependent,with the greatest effects observed at the highest *** comparison to MDS,the yields of soybean in the MDS-L,MDS-M,and MDS-H treatments exhibited a 18.38%,25.58%,and 46.26%increase,***,the content of protein,fat,linoleic acid,and linolenic acid in seeds demonstrated a notable enhancement.[Conclusions]The application of the water-retaining agent has been demonstrated to significantly promote the growth of soybean plants under conditions of drought stress,resulting in an improvement in both the yield and the quality of the soybean *** recommended dosage of the water-retaining agent is 3.3 kg/667 m 2.

HO radical is an aggressive reagent to abstract hydrogen from diverse substitutes and lead them to degradation, however, in reaction of active oxygen species with lignins, complex phenolic polymers, in dispersed lignocellulose such as pulp for environment-benign delignification, HO radicals should be eliminated as more as possible to prevent cellulose from unfavorably concomitant degradation. A reaction system of O3 is constructed under UV laser flash irradiation, and HO radicals are controlled efficiently by it. A new mechanism is proposed, for the first time, that O radicals generated from reaction of O3 with UV laser flash irradiation might be the contributor to scavenge HO radicals.

Preparation of Electrospun PVDF Nanofiber Composite Filter Medium and Its Application in Air Filtration

Nanofibrous media with both high particle interception efficiency and robust air permeability has broad technological applications in areas including individual protection, industrial security, and environmental governance. However, producing such filtration media has proven to be extremely challenging. Here we reported an approach to preparing and fabricating a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanofiber composite filter medium composed of 2D PVDF nanofiber nets and a stable substrate via onestep electrospinning for effective air filtration. PVDF nanofibers are obtained by adjusting the electrospinning process. With the combined properties of ultrasmall diameter, high porosity, and a bonded scaffold, the resulting PVDF nanofiber composite filter medium exhibits a robust high filtration efficiency of 99.901%(equivalent to an F9 rating) for 0.4 mm particles and a long service life (a large dust holding capacity of 36 g/m^2) for ultrafine airborne particles based on the sieving principle and surface filtration behavior. The successful synthesis of PVDF nanofibers medium would not only make it a promising candidate for air filtration, but also provide new insights into the design and development of composite nanofiber structures for various applications.

In this study,lignin-containing microfibrillated cellulose(MFC)was prepared from corncob residue after xylose extraction via co-grinding with calcium *** product was then compared with the MFC obtained by direct grinding and applied to strengthen *** chemical composition and morphological structure analysis results showed that the corncob residue can be used to prepare lignin-containing MFC and does not require further ***,the co-grinding with calcium hydroxide is easier to fibrillate corncob *** MFC obtained by cogrinding with calcium hydroxide had a higher aspect ratio,and its surface was coated with calcium carbonate *** obtained by both the methods mentioned above had an obvious strengthening effect on *** with the paper without MFC,the tensile index,elongation,burst index,and folding strength of the paper with MFC obtained by co-grinding with calcium hydroxide significantly increased by 17.5%,22.1%,19.5%,and 157.1%,*** study provides a novel idea for the utilization of corncob residue,which may enhance the value and promote the comprehensive utilization of corn by-products.

Design of earth structures,such as dams,tunnels,and embankments,against the vibrational loading caused by high-speed trains,road traffic,underground explosions,and,more importantly,earthquake motion,demands solutions of the dynamic soil–structure Interaction(SSI)*** paper presents a velocity-based space–time finite element procedure,v-ST/finite element method(FEM),to solve dynamic SSI *** main goal of this study is to present the computation details of implementing viscous boundary conditions of Lysmer–Kuhlemeyer to truncate the unbounded soil ***,additional time-dependent boundary conditions,in terms of the free-field response,are included to facilitate energy flow from the far field to the computation domain at the vertical truncated *** the FEM,seismic input motion is applied to an effective nodal force vector,which can be obtained explicitly in the numerical ***,the response of a concrete gravity dam resting on an elastic half-space to the horizontal component of earthquake motion is computed and successfully compared with the results of semidiscrete FEM using the Newmark-βmethod.

Production of Bamboo Fiber Reinforced Fibrillated Poly(Lactic Acid)(PLA) Material Obtained by a papermaking Process

A devised beating process was applied, which enabled the formation of slurry consisting of uniformly dispersed fibrillated polylactic acid（PLA） fibers with bamboo fiber, and the polymer material was obtained by a conventional papermaking process. Owing to the fast dewatering time, good repeatability and the facility to manufacture on a large scale, this process was used. It was revealed that the beaten PLA fiber was overall in machinery extrusion by the results of optical microscope and scanning electron microscope（SEM） observations. The improvement in the tensile index, burst index, tear index and other mechanical properties was considered as a key benefit as a result of adding bamboo fiber.
