Secular trends of asthma mortality in China and the United States from 1990 to 2019

Skin wounds are characterized by injury to the skin due to trauma,tearing,cuts,or *** such injuries are common to all human groups,they may at times represent a serious socioeconomic ***,increasing numbers of studies have focused on the role of mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)-derived extracellular vesicles(EVs)in skin wound *** a cell-free therapy,MSC-derived EVs have shown significant application potential in the field of wound repair as a more stable and safer option than conventional cell *** based on MSC-derived EVs can significantly promote the repair of damaged substructures,including the regeneration of vessels,nerves,and hair *** addition,MSC-derived EVs can inhibit scar formation by affecting angiogenesis-related and antifibrotic pathways in promoting macrophage polarization,wound angiogenesis,cell proliferation,and cell migration,and by inhibiting excessive extracellular matrix ***,these structures can serve as a scaffold for components used in wound repair,and they can be developed into bioengineered EVs to support trauma *** the formulation of standardized culture,isolation,purification,and drug delivery strategies,exploration of the detailed mechanism of EVs will allow them to be used as clinical treatments for wound *** conclusion,MSCderived EV-based therapies have important application prospects in wound *** we provide a comprehensive overview of their current status,application potential,and associated drawbacks.

As the search for effective treatments for COVID-19 continues,the high mortality rate among critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units(ICU)presents a profound *** study explores the potential benefits of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)as a supplementary treatment for severe COVID-19.A total of 110 critically ill COVID-19 patients at the Intensive Care Unit(ICU)of Vulcan Hill Hospital between Feb.,2020,and April,2020(Wuhan,China)participated in this observational *** patients received standard supportive care protocols,with a subset of 81 also receiving TCM as an adjunct *** characteristics during the treatment period and the clinical outcome of each patient were closely monitored and *** findings indicated that the TCM group exhibited a significantly lower mortality rate compared with the non-TCM group(16 of 81 vs 24 of 29;0.3 vs 2.3 person/month).In the adjusted Cox proportional hazards models,TCM treatment was associated with improved survival odds(P<0.001).Furthermore,the analysis also revealed that TCM treatment could partially mitigate inflammatory responses,as evidenced by the reduced levels of proinflammatory cytokines,and contribute to the recovery of multiple organic functions,thereby potentially increasing the survival rate of critically ill COVID-19 patients.

Lianhua Qingke tablets, a patented traditional Chinese medicine that has validated clinical efficacy for treating cough caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection, lack rigorous evidence-based research evaluating their effect on long coronavirus disease(COVID) cough. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter clinical study was conducted among patients with long COVID cough from 19 hospitals and 23 community health centers in China. Patients were randomized 1:1 to receive either Lianhua Qingke tablets or placebo orally for 14 days(four tablets, 1.84 g, three times a day). The primary endpoint indicator was the disappearance of cough, with the remission of cough also considered. Among 482 randomized patients, 480(full analysis set 480; per-protocol set 470; safety set 480) were included in the primary analysis. According to the full analysis, the time until cough disappearance was significantly shorter in the trial group than in the control group, with a significant increase in the 14-day cough disappearance rate. Accordingly, the time to cough remission was significantly shorter in the trial group than in the control group. The change in the total symptom score was significantly greater in the trial group than in the control group on days 7 and 14, consistent with the results indicated by the visual analog scale(VAS) and cough evaluation test(CET) scores. No serious adverse events were recorded during the study. Lianhua Qingke tablets significantly improved the clinical symptoms of patients with long COVID cough.

Meigs syndrome(MS)is characterized by a benign ovarian tumor(fibroma),hydrothorax on the right side,and ascites;which can be resolved permanently after *** literature reveals that most MS surgeries were performed under general anesthesia(GA)[1].However,GA poses major risks to the *** the high risk of gastric content regurgitation,poor general condition or dyselectrolytemia may lead to delayed arousal,and associated multi-organ *** mechanical ventilation is also difficult due to ascites and hydrothorax(reduced cardiac output,impaired ventilation-perfusion in lungs causing hypoxia and hypercapnia)[1,2].In this letter,we report a case of MS tumor resection under the subarachnoid block(SAB)to mitigate these issues and also review the complications associated with both techniques.

BACKGROUND Lung cancer(LC)combined with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)is a common combination of ***-inflammation and modulation of oxidative/antioxidative imbalance may prevent COPD-induced LC,and are also crucial to the treatment of LC combined with *** studies have shown that Tao Hong Si Wu Tang(THSW)has vasodilatory,anti-inflammatory,anti-fatigue,anti-shock,immunoregulatory,lipid-reducing,micronutrient-supplementing,and anti-allergy *** To observe the effects of THSW on COPD and LC in *** A total of 100 specific pathogen-free C57/BL6 mice were randomly divided into five groups:Blank control group(group A),model control group(group B),THSW group(group C),IL-6 group(group D),and THSW+IL-6 group(group E),with 20 mice in each group.A COPD mouse model was established using fumigation plus lipopolysaccharide intra-airway drip,and an LC model was replicated by in situ inoculation using the Lewis cell *** The blank control group exhibited a clear alveolar *** model control and IL-6 groups had thickened alveolar walls,with smaller alveolar lumens,interstitial edema,and several inflammatory infiltrating *** changes in the lungs of the THSW and THSW+IL-6 groups were less than those of the model control *** serum IL-1β,IL-6,and TNF-αlevels and IL-6R,JAK,p-JAK,STAT1/3,p-STAT1/3,FOXO,p-FOXO,and IL-7R expression levels in lung tissues of mice in the rest of the groups were significantly higher than those of the blank control group(P<0.01).Compared with the model control group,the IL-6 group demonstrated significantly higher levels for the abovementioned proteins in the serum and lung tissues(P<0.01),and the THSW group had significantly higher serum IL-1β,IL-6,and TNF-αlevels and IL-7R expression levels in lung tissues(P<0.01)but significantly decreased IL-6R,JAK,p-JAK,STAT1/3,p-STAT1/3,FOXO,p-FOXO,and IL-7R levels(P<0.01).CONCLUSION THSW reduces the serum IL-1β,IL-6,and TNF-αlev
