In recent years,paternity testing in ethnic minority areas in China increases ***,the number of existing genetic markers does not meet the *** objective is to study the information of 22 genetic markers in Mongolian,Tibetan,and Uygur *** genetic polymorphism of 22 short tandem repeat(STR)loci(D10S1435,D11S2368,D12S391,D13S325,D14S608,D15S659,D16S539,D17S1290,D18S535,D19S253,D1S1656,D20S470,D21S1270,D22GATA198B05,D2S1338,D3S3045,D4S2366,D5S2500,D6S477,D7S3048,D8S1132,and D9S925)was estimated in 259 Uyghur,251 Tibetan,and 250 Inner Mongolian individuals from China who were all *** frequencies and forensic parameters were *** Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(HWE)of each locus and the linkage disequilibrium(LD)for all pairwise STR loci were ***,the Nei's genetic distance was used to estimate the genetic heterogeneity between Tibetan,Uyghur,Mongolian,Chinese Northern Han and Chinese Li *** 22 loci showed high genetic polymorphism in the three ethnic *** exact test for the genotype distribution of the markers showed no significant deviation from *** 22 STR loci could be treated as independent loci at the population level in these three ethnic *** short genetic distances were found between the Mongolian and Han and Uygur *** 22 loci had no LD in the three ethnic groups and showed high heterozygosity,providing genetic information and forensic statistics for the Uyghur,Tibetan,and Inner Mongolian *** 22 STR loci will be useful for identification and kinship analysis in these three populations in China.

Monodisperse silica nanoparticle suspension for developing latent blood fingermarks

Traditional fingermark developing methods are unsuitable for developing and extracting latent blood fingermarks on dark surfaces at crime scene because of their ineffectiveness or tedious operation *** the present work,an effective and simple method was developed to serve this purpose using a suspension of monodisperse silica nanoparticles(MSNs).A suspension of 0.1 g/mL of MSNs was prepared by dispersing MSNs ultrasonically into an ethanol solution containing 1.0%Tween 80 and then uniformly sprayed onto the latent blood fingermarks on black plastic *** 20 s later,ethanol was sprayed to clean the superfluous developing *** the ethanol had evaporated,the latent fin-germarks became visible as a result of the photonic crystal effect produced by the MSNs that had adsorbed to the fingermark *** developed fingermarks were then photo-graphed using a digital camera under a white or monospectral light source,revealing fine ridges and clear fingermark *** novel,simple and effective method uses the pho-tonic crystal effect of MSNs to develop latent blood fingermarks without the need for sur-face functionalization and conjugation to dye or fluorescently label *** method can detect latent blood fingermarks that have been retained on a black plastic bag surface for at least 30 *** the simplicity and effectiveness of the developed method,MSNs may be a useful alternative material for use in developing latent *** research on the topic is warranted.

With an annual incidence of 0.5 to 1.5/1000,cardiac arrest(CA)has emerged as a major global public health concern.[1]Although the American Heart Association(AHA)-International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation updates the cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR)guidelines every 5 years,the survival rate and percentage of patients with good neurologic outcomes post-CA after hospital discharge have been relatively ***,the AHA 2010 CPR guidelines mention the treatment of post-cardiac arrest syndrome(PCAS)in the intensive care unit(ICU)as the fifth link in the CA survival *** is a pathophysiological process that includes(1)brain injury,(2)myocardial dysfunction leading to hemodynamic instability,and(3)systemic ischemia/reperfusion response leading to lactate accumulation.[2]These key factors affect the survival and neurological prognosis of CA patients in the early *** assessed the effects of early hemodynamics,oxygen metabolism,and lactate dynamics during PCAS on a 28-day survival rate and neurological outcomes.

Monkeypox (mpox) is a zoonotic disease caused by the mpox virus (MPXV) that has been primarily limited to Central and West African nations since its discovery. The recent spread of the West African lineage of MPXV in historically unaffected countries has raised concerns for global public health. Despite a significant decrease in global mpox cases, there is still a risk of a global resurgence. This study reports the first local case of mpox caused by an imported case in the Chinese mainland. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) diagnosed the two cases, and the viral genomes were obtained by next-generation sequencing. Genomic analysis revealed that the two strains shared an identical genome sequence and belonged to the B.1.3 branch of the West African lineage, which is the first local case of mpox caused by an imported case in the Chinese mainland, highlighting the potential threat of mpox in China and the immediate need for adequate surveillance measures.

Changes in Life Expectancy of Respiratory Diseases from Attaining Daily PM_(2.5) Standard in China: A Nationwide Observational Study

Although exposure to air pollution increases the risk of premature mortality and years of life lost(YLL),the effects of daily air quality improvement to the life expectancy of respiratory diseases remained *** applied a generalized additive model(GAM)to assess the associations between daily PM_(2.5) exposure and YLL from respiratory diseases in 96 Chinese cities during 2013–*** further estimated the avoidable YLL,potential gains in life expectancy,and the attributable fraction by assuming dailyPM_(2.5) concentration decrease to the air quality standards of China and World health *** and national results were generated by random-effects meta-analysis.A total of 861,494 total respiratory diseases and 586,962 chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)caused death from 96 Chinese cities were recorded during study *** 10 mg/m3 increase of PM_(2.5) in 3-day moving average(lag02)was associated with 0.16(95%CI:0.08,0.24)years increment in life expectancy from total respiratory *** highest effect was observed in Southwest region with 0.42(95%CI:0.22,0.62)years increase in life *** attaining the WHO's Air Quality Guidelines,we estimated that an average of 782.09(95%CI:438.29,1125.89)YLLs caused by total respiratory death in each city could be avoided,which corresponded to 1.15%(95%CI:0.67%,1.64%)of the overall YLLs,and 0.12(95%CI:0.07,0.17)years increment in life *** results of COPD were generally consistent with total respiratory *** findings indicate that reduction in daily PM_(2.5) concentrations might lead to longer life expectancy from respiratory death.

Waist Circumference Reference Values for Screening Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Chinese Children and Adolescents

Objectives To explore the optimal threshold values of waist circumference （WC） for detecting cardiovascular （CV） risk factors among Chinese children and adolescents. Methods Association of WC with CV risk factors was studied among 65 898 children aged 7-18 years whose data were pooled from nine previous studies in China. CV risk factors in this study included hypertension （blood pressure above 95 percentile levels）, dyslipidemia （with one or more of the following three indexes： TG ≥ 1.7 mmol/L, TC ≥ 5.18 mmol/L, and HDL-C ≤ 1.04 mmol/L） and elevated glucose level （fasting plasma glucose ≥5.6 mmol/L）. Receive-operating characteristic analysis （ROC） and logistic regression were employed to derive optimal age- and sex-specific waist circumference references for predicting CV risk factors. Results A slight increasing trend of CV risk factors was observed starting from the 75th percentile of waist circumference in the study population, while a remarkable increasing trend occurred from the 90th percentile. The optimal waist circumference thresholds for predicting high blood pressures were at the 75th percentile for both boys and girls, which was at the 90th percentiles for detecting at least two of the above three CV risk factors. In comparison with children with waist circumference below the 75th percentile, the odds ratio of two CV risk factors doubled among children with waist circumference between the 75th and the 90th percentile, and increased by 6 times among children with waist circumference above the 90th percentile. The trend of high blood pressure increasing with waist circumference remained significant after having been stratified by BMI category. Conclusion The 75th and the 90th percentiles of WC are the optimal cut-off points for predicting an increased and a substantially increased risk of CV factors in Chinese children and adolescents, respectively.
