Perinatal prevalence of birth defects in the Mainland of China,2000–2021:a systematic review and meta-analysis

Background Although birth defects are of great concern globally,the latest national prevalence has not yet been quantified in *** conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to estimate the perinatal prevalence of birth defects in the Mainland of China between 2000 and *** We performed a systematic literature search of six databases for relevant articles published between January 1,2000,and March 1,*** included published studies that reported data on the perinatal prevalence of birth defects in the Mainland of *** DerSimonian and Laird random-effects models were used to estimate the pooled prevalence and its 95%confidence interval(CI).We also conducted subgroup analyses and univariable meta-regressions to explore differences in prevalence by time period,geographic region,and other *** We included 254 studies reporting the perinatal prevalence of birth defects and 86 studies reporting only the prevalence of specific types of birth *** on 254 studies covering 74,307,037 perinatal births and 985,115 cases with birth defects,the pooled perinatal prevalence of birth defects was 122.54(95%CI 116.20–128.89)per 10,000 perinatal births in the Mainland of China during 2000–***,the perinatal prevalence of birth defects increased from 95.60(86.51–104.69)per 10,000 in 2000–2004 to 208.94(175.67–242.22)per 10,000 in 2020–*** were also significant disparities among different geographical *** heart defects(33.35 per 10,000),clefts of the lip and/or palate(13.52 per 10,000),polydactyly(12.82 per 10,000),neural tube defects(12.82 per 10,000),and inborn errors of metabolism(11.41 per 10,000)were the five most common types of birth *** perinatal prevalence among males was significantly higher than that among females(β=2.44×10^(−3),P=0.003);a higher perinatal prevalence of birth defects was observed among perinatal births whose mothers were≥35 years(β=4.34×10^(−3),P<0.001).Conclusion Compreh

Total Energy Expenditure of 16 Chinese Young Men Measured by the Doubly Labeled Water Method

Objective Doubly labeled water （DLW） method is the gold standard for measuring total energy expenditure （TEE）. We used this method to measure TEE in Chinese young men. Methods Sixteen healthy young men age 23±1 recruited. TEE was measured by the DLW method, by indirect calorimetry. We also conducted 24-h estimate energy requirements of the subjects. years with body mass index 22.0±1.4 kg/m2 were and basal energy expenditure （BEE） was determined activity, energy balance and factorial approach to Results TEE of subjects by DLW method was 9.45±0.57 M J/day （2258±180 kcal/day）. The 24-h activity was 10.80±0.33 M J/day （2582±136 kcal/day）. The energy requirement, derived from energy balance observations, was 9.93±1.32 M J/day （2373±315 kcal/day）. The BEE of 6.65±0.28 M J/day （1589±67 kcal/day）, calculated by the adjusted Schofield equation, was significantly higher （P〈O.O01） than that measured by indirect calorimetry, 5.99-±0.66 M J/day （1433-±158 kcal/day）. The TEE derived from the factorial approach was 10.31-±0.43 M J/day （2463±104 kcal/day）. Conclusion The TEE of Chinese young men measured by the DLW method was about 10% lower than the current recommended nutrient intake （RNI）, suggesting that the RNI for Chinese men maybe overestimated. Further studies are warranted to determine the value of the estimated energy requirement.

An Improved Method for Correction of Air Temperature Measured Using Different Radiation Shields

The variation of air temperature measurement errors using two different radiation shields （DTR502B Vaisala,Finland,and HYTFZ01,Huayun Tongda Satcom,China） was *** were collected in the field at the Daxing weather station in beijing from June 2011 to May *** air temperature values obtained with these two commonly used radiation shields were lower than the reference records obtained with the new Fiber Reinforced Polymers （FRP） Stevenson *** most cases,the air temperature errors when using the two devices were smaller on overcast and rainy days than on sunny days; and smaller when using the imported rather than the Chinese *** measured errors changed sharply at sunrise and sunset,and reached maxima at *** diurnal variation characteristics were,naturally,related to changes in solar *** relationships between the record errors,global radiation,and wind speed were *** improved correction method was proposed based on the approach described by Nakamura and Mahrt （2005）（NM05）,in which the impact of the solar zenith angle （SZA） on the temperature error is considered and extreme errors due to changes in SZA can be corrected *** errors were reduced significantly after correction by either method for both *** error reduction rate using the improved correction method for the Chinese and imported shields were 3.3％ and 40.4％ higher than those using the NM05 method,respectively.

To describe the epidemiologic features of an outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome （SARS） in urban and suburb areas in beijing and to explore their differences between these two areas. Methods Data of SARS cases were collected from daily notification of China Ministry of health and a database of infectious diseases was established by the beijing Municipal Center for Disease Prevention and Control （BCDC）. All the data were put into dataset files by Microsoft Exeel-2000 and analyzed with SPSS version 10.0 software. Results The respective urban incidence and mortality rate were 29.06 and 2.21 per 100 000, while the case fatality rate was 7.62%. In contrast, the respective suburb incidence and mortality rate were 10.61 and 0.78 per 100 000, and the case fatality rate was 7.32%. No significant differences were found in demographic characteristics between the urban and suburb areas. Conclusion beijing urban area suffered a more serious SARS epidemic than the suburb area in 2003.

Effects of Helicobacter pylori eradication on the profiles of blood metabolites and their associations with the progression of gastric lesions: a prospective follow-up study

Association of fluid balance trajectories with clinical outcomes in patients with septic shock:A prospective multicenter cohort study

Background:Septic shock has a high incidence and mortality rate in Intensive Care Units(ICUs).Earlier intravenous fluid resuscitation can significantly improve outcomes in septic patients but easily leads to fluid overload(FO),which is associated with poor clinical outcomes.A single point value of fluid cannot provide enough fluid *** aim of this study was to investigate the impact of fluid balance(FB)latent trajectories on clinical outcomes in septic ***:Patients were diagnosed with septic shock during the first 48 h,and sequential fluid data for the first 3 days of ICU admission were included.A group-based trajectory model(GBTM)which is designed to identify groups of individuals following similar developmental trajectories was used to identify latent subgroups of individuals following a similar progression of *** primary outcomes were hospital mortality,organ dysfunction,major adverse kidney events(MAKE)and severe respiratory adverse events(SRAE).We used multivariable Cox or logistic regression analysis to assess the association between FB trajectories and clinical ***:Nine hundred eighty-six patients met the inclusion criteria and were assigned to GBTM analysis,and three latent FB trajectories were detected.64(6.5%),841(85.3%),and 81(8.2%)patients were identified to have decreased,low,and high FB,*** with low FB,high FB was associated with increased hospital mortality[hazard ratio(HR)=1.63,95%CI 1.22–2.17],organ dysfunction[odds ratio(OR)=2.18,95%CI 1.22–3.42],MAKE(OR=1.80,95%CI 1.04–2.63)and SRAE(OR=2.33,95%CI 1.46–3.71),and decreasing FB was significantly associated with decreased MAKE(OR=0.46,95%CI 0.29–0.79)after adjustment for potential ***:Latent subgroups of septic patients followed a similar FB *** latent fluid trajectories were associated with clinical *** decreasing FB trajectory was associated with a decreased risk of hospital mortality and MAKE.
