BACKGROUND Monkeypox(Mpox),is a disease of global public health concern,as it does not affect only countries in western and central *** To assess Burundi healthcare workers(HCWs)s’level of knowledge and confidence in the diagnosis and management of *** We conducted a cross-sectional study via an online survey designed mainly from the World Health Organization course distributed among Burundi HCWs from June-July *** questionnaire comprises 8 socioprofessional-related questions,22 questions about Mpox disease knowledge,and 3 questions to assess confidence in Mpox diagnosis and *** data were analyzed via SPSS software version 25.0.A P value<0.05 was considered to indicate statistical *** The study sample comprised 471 HCWs who were mainly medical doctors(63.9%)and nurses(30.1%).None of the 22 questions concerning Mpox knowledge had at least 50%correct responses.A very low number of HCWs(17.4%)knew that Mpox has a *** confidence level to diagnose(21.20%),treat(18.00%)or prevent(23.30%)Mpox was low among *** confidence level in the diagnosis of Mpox was associated with the HCWs’age(P value=0.009),sex(P value<0.001),work experience(P value=0.002),and residence(P value<0.001).The confidence level to treat Mpox was significantly associated with the HCWs’age(P value=0.050),sex(P value<0.001),education(P value=0.033)and occupation(P value=0.005).The confidence level to prevent Mpox was associated with the HCWs’education(P value<0.001),work experience(P value=0.002),residence(P value<0.001)and type of work institution(P value=0.003).CONCLUSION This study revealed that HCWs have the lowest level of knowledge regarding Mpox and a lack of confidence in the ability to diagnose,treat or prevent *** is an urgent need to organize continuing medical education programs on Mpox epidemiology and preparedness for Burundi *** encourage future researchers to assess potential hesitancy toward Mpox vaccination and its asso

Lag Synchronization Between Two Coupled Networks via Open-Plus-Closed-Loop and Adaptive Controls

In this paper,we study lag synchronization between two coupled networks and apply two types of control schemes,including the open-plus-closed-loop(OPCL) and adaptive *** then design the corresponding control algorithms according to the OPCL and adaptive feedback *** the designed controllers,we obtain two theorems on the lag synchronization based on Lyapunov stability theory and Barbalat's *** we provide numerical examples to show the effectiveness of the obtained controllers and see that the adaptive control is stronger than the OPCL control when realizing the lag synchronization between two coupled networks with different coupling structures.

Introduction: Epulis is a pseudotumor very common in women. If neglected, it can reach a considerable volume. The marginal gingiva is very involved in the tumor either in isolation or with periodontal and alveolar bone. The epulis sits classically on the vestibular gum, rarely on the palatal side. We report a case of palatal giant epulis which posed a diagnostic problem. Case report: This was a 50-year-old patient with a large tumor occupying the entire oral cavity and pushing all nearby organs. This lesion had been evolving for ten years, with a tendency to gradually increase of its volume. The orthopantomogram revealed the destruction of the underlying alveolar bone without signs of tumor invasion. Surgical excision was performed, removing all the tumor in the vicinity of the nasopalatine vascular pedicle. The pathological examination concludes with an inflammatory epulis. Conclusion: The epulis is a benign tumor of the gum, circumscribed, localized preferentially at the neck of one or two contiguous teeth. It occurs more in women, with a predilection for the vestibular side, rarely the palatal side. In the absence of appropriate treatment it can lead to a large tumor, posing a diagnostic problem and causing functional or aesthetic discomfort. Complete surgical excision with histological examination remains the solution. Healing without sequelae is the rule.

Mortality in Cardiology in Sub-Saharan Africa: Case of the Cardiology department of the teaching Hospital Sylvanus Olympio of Lome

Background: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. The specificities of cardiology mortality in Togo are not well known. The objective of this study was to determine the profile of deaths in the cardiology department of the Sylvanus Olympio teaching Hospital (CHU SO) in Lome. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted over a period of 06 years, from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2021, in the cardiology department of the Sylvanus Olympio teaching Hospital in Lome. In this study, we included all medical records of patients who died in hospital in the cardiology department during the study period. Results: During the study period, 2762 patients were hospitalized in the cardiology unit at CHU SO. We recorded 112 deaths meeting our criteria, for an intrahospital mortality rate of 4.19%. The average age of patients was 53.79 ± 18.27 years. Hypertension was present in 47.3%. Sickness insurance coverage was not available for 94.64% of those who died. The major cardiovascular diseases observed were myocardium in 43.75% whose dilated cardiomyopathy accounted for 71.42%;and rhythmic lesions in 34.82%. Biological infectious syndrome (56.25%), renal failure (48.21%), anemia (47.27%), lung infection (32.14%), hyponatremia (33.04%) were the main comorbidities observed. Among the circumstances of death, sudden death was found in 32.14%, cardiogenic shock in 20.54% and septic shock in 13.39%. Conclusion: The profile of deaths in the cardiology department of the CHU SO reveals that myocardial injuries are more present with circumstances of death dominated by sudden death.

Objective: The objective of our study was to study the surgical activities carried out in the gynecology-obstetrics department of the CHU-YO (teaching Hospital Yalgado Ouédraogo) from January 1st 2015 to December 31st, 2015. Patients and Methods: This dealt with a cross-cutting descriptive and analytic study with retrospective data collection. Our study has included the female patients who underwent surgery in the operating room and whose medical records were usable. Results: 45% of female patients admitted in the concerned department underwent a surgery. The average age of patients was estimated at 28.02 years ±7 years with extremes of 13 years and 80 years. Obstetrical surgery has involved 89.9% of cases. Female patients have received a loco-regional anesthesia in 92.7% of cases. Emergency surgical operations accounted for 88.8% and caesarean section was the main surgical operation carried out in 87.1% of cases. The mortality rate of the overall surgical operations was 1.04%. Conclusion: A better availability of labile blood products is more likely to reduce the mortality rate of surgical operations under the threshold of 1%.

Introduction: Myasthenia is a rare and disabling autoimmune disease. Few studies were devoted to this pathology. We report a clinical case of myasthenia in the department of Internal Medicine at the Point G University teaching Hospital. Observation: This is a 41-year-old patient of Malian origin, a trader with a history of hemorrhoidectomy in 2011 and familial hypertension, was admitted on August 19, 2014, for muscle weakness, dysphonia, and dysphagia. The disease started 1 year before admission at the department with progressive muscle weakness of the upper limbs aggravated by repetitive movements and spreading to the head “drooping head” and inferior limbs, associated with general fatigue, dysphonia and selective dysphagia for solid foods. The diagnosis of myasthenia was maintained based on the clinical signs such as ptosis, bilateral diplopia, and weakness with lower limbs muscle strength rated at 3/5, and confirmed with confirmatory exams;a positive anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody (RIA), the post-synaptic neuromuscular conduction block at ENMG and the positive neostigmine pharmacological test. The patient received Neostigmine (prostagmine) 0.5 mg one ampoule in IM/day and Prednisone at a dosage of 1 mg/kg/day. The evolution was marked by a moderate improvement of the symptomatology afterward the patient was evacuated to Tunisia on family request where he received a course of immunoglobulin 2 g/kg in 2 days. The evolution in Tunisia was favorable. The patient returned in Mali and death occurred after 2 months in a context of respiratory distress. Conclusion: Myasthenia is a rare but serious disease requiring careful management and monitoring to reduce respiratory complications.

Reaction Subdiffusion with Random Waiting Time Depending on the Preceding Jump Length

To describe the energy-dependent characteristics of the reaction-subdiffusion process, we analyze the simple reaction A--→B under subdiffsion with waiting time depending on the preceding jump length, and derive the corresponding master equations in the Fourier Laplace space for the distribution of A and B particles in a continuous time random walk scheme. Moreover, the generalizations of the reaction-diffusion equation for the Gaussian jump length with the probability density function of waiting time being quadratically dependent on the preceding jump length are obtained by applying the derived master equations.
