Differences in physical and structural characteristics of seeds may indicate variability within and between plant *** the present study,we performed a close characterization of dimension,shape,and tegument delayed chlorophyll fluorescence in seeds obtained from three species of the genus Annona(Annonaceae),i.e.,Annona coriacea,***,*** showed that studied seeds may be sorted as scalene ellipsoids expressing low values for the seed *** morphological estimates suggested differences in seed shape for all species.A high correlation was observed between surface area and volume(r^2>99%)for all the three species suggesting that in addition to structural *** addition,we also observed very high positive correlations(Rho=1.000,pdomain by means of Fourier Transform spectra as well as the relationship time-frequency of chlorophyll fluorescence.

Strigula sensu lato has been previously defined based on phenotype characters as a rather broad genus including tropical to temperate species growing on a wide array of *** this study,based on a multilocus phylogenetic approach,we show that foliicolous species form six well-delimited clades that correlate with diagnostic phenotype features,including thallus morphology,carbonization of the involucrellum and excipulum,ascospore dimensions,and type of *** the topology,with five of the six clades emerging on long stem branches,and the strong phenotypical differentiation between the clades,we recognize these at the genus level,making mostly use of previously established genus *** genera,namely Phylloporis,Puiggariella,Raciborskiella,and Racoplaca,are resurrected for the ***,***,***,and *** groups,respectively,whereas one new genus,Serusiauxiella ***.,is introduced for a novel lineage with peculiar *** only sequenced non-foliicolous species,***,is not closely related to these six foliicolous lineages but clusters with Flavobathelium and Phyllobathelium,revealing it as an additional undescribed genus-level lineage being treated *** the new genus Serusiauxiella,three new species are described:Serusiauxiella filifera ***.,*** ***.,and *** *** addition,ten new combinations are proposed:Phylloporis austropunctata ***.,*** ***.,*** ***.,Puiggariella confluens *** ***.,*** ***.,*** ***.,Racoplaca maculata ***.,*** ***.,***,and *** *** also report on a peculiar,previously unrecognized growth behaviour of the macroconidial appendages in Strigula ***.

In Brazil,schistosomiasis occurrence is related to the presence of the etiological agent Schistosoma *** presence of mollusks for Biomphalaria genus is a necessary condition for development of the parasite *** Parástate,the species ***,***,*** and *** have already been identified,with reports of the last two occurring in Belé*** aim of this study was to determine the spatial distribution of Biomphalaria species in Belém,Pará,Brazil,identifying risk areas for schistosomiasis *** malacological surveys were carried out between September 2013 and October 2017 in 35 neighborhoods of Belé*** collection points were georeferenced using a Global positioning System(GPS)receiver and the Kernel Density Estimation(KDE)was used to the spatial *** mollusks,after measurement,were exposed to light to verify the presence of *** ***,mollusks were sacrificed and fixed for dissection and morphological identification of *** surveys resulted in a total of 10,803 mollusks collected,of which 9,367(86.70%)specimens were *** the analyzed mollusks,5,820(62.14%)were identified as *** and 3,547(37.86%)as *** presence of the parasite was observed in 208(2.22%)specimens,all *** mollusks were found in six neighborhoods:Guamá(51 mollusks/24.5%),Sacramenta(47 mollusks/22.6%),Telégrafo(47 mollusks/22.6%),Terra Firme(36 mollusks/17.3%),Condor(20 mollusks/9.6%)and Barreiro(7 mollusks/3.4%).This study confirms that *** species actively participates as intermediate host in the disease maintenance in Belé*** KDE allowed to analyze the spatial distribution of collection sites and consequently to determine possible risk areas of schistosomiasis transmission in *** development of maps identifying sites with schistosomiasis positive snails may support efforts of this municipality by directing activities related to endemic disease control.

The Role of CD4+ and CD8+ T-Cells during Angiostrongylus vasorum Infection in dogs

A determinant factor in the pathology of canine angiostrongylosis seems to be related to the location of the parasite in the definitive host. Their presence inside the arteries and its branches, promoting mechanical and metabolic action on the wall of the vessels, may alter its homeostasis. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) is a procedure that retrieves cells and other elements from de lungs for evaluation, and helps in the diagnosis of many pulmonary diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate CD4+/CD8+ lymphocyte profile during the infection by Angiostrongylus vasorum, using cells retrieved using BAL. The identification of subpopulations of T lymphocytes by evaluating the co-expression of CD4 and CD8 receptor proteins has shown that despite the increase in both populations, there was a predominance of CD4+ T-cells, instead of CD8+ T-cells. These increases of CD4+ T-cells associated with the increase of the ratio between CD4+/CD8+ suggest polarization of a Th2 response. However, the immune cells, signaling factors, and cytokines that mediate such immunity and how and where they act within the body remain largely undefined during angiostrongylosis.

Curimat?-pioa (Prochilodus costatus) and curimat?-pacu (Prochilodus argenteus) are migratory fish species endemic to the S?o Francisco River Basin in Brazil. Both species play important roles in local fisheries and ecology in the Paraopeba River. A dam was recently constructed on this river and to help in the development and conservation programs, we characterized the genetic variation of both species before dam construction. Complex hypervariable repeats micro-satellite was used to asses genetic variation for both species within and between the five collection sites in order to detect population substructuring. Nucleotide substitutions and insertion/deletion polymorphisms (indels) resulted in 35 P. costatus haplotypes (sample size = 89) and 22 P. argenteus haplotypes (sample size = 32). Significant genetic diversity and population differentiation was detected between five sampling sites for both species. Therefore, each of the five sites should be regarded as a group comprising significant genetic differences in species conservation and maintenance plans. Comparing these results to genetic diversity measures after dam construction will be critical for future management in this region.

Irbesartan (IBS) is a tetrazole derivative and antihypertensive drug that has two interconvertible structures, 1H- and 2H-tautomers. The difference between them lies in the protonation of the tetrazole ring. In the solid-state, both tautomers can be isolated as crystal forms A (1H-tautomer) and B (2H-tautomer). Studies have reported that IBS is a polymorphic system and its forms A and B are related monotropically. These reports indicate form B as the most stable and less soluble form. Therefore, the goal of this contribution is to demonstrate through a complete solid-state characterization, thermodynamic study and dissolution properties that the IBS forms are desmotropes that are not related monotropically. However, the intention is also to call attention to the importance of conducting strict chemical and in solid-state quality controls on the IBS raw materials. Hence, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and Raman spectroscopy (RS) at ambient and non-ambient conditions, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), hot stage microscopy (HSM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy (Sem) techniques were applied. Furthermore, intrinsic dissolution rate (IDR) and structural stability studies at 98% relative humidity (RH), 25℃ and 40 ℃ were conducted as well. The results show that in fact, form A is approximately four-fold more soluble than form B. In addition, both IBS forms are stable at ambient conditions. Nevertheless, structural and/or chemical instability was observed in form B at 40℃ and 98% RH. IBS has been confirmed as a desmotropic system rather than a polymorphic one. Consequently, forms A and B are not related monotropically.

The use of batteries in UAVs （unmanned aerial vehicles） has become common due to some advantages in comparison with internal combustion engines such as weight reduction and better power control. However, in these vehicles it is critical to monitor the RUL （remaining useful life） of the batteries. This information can be used, for instance, as a decision support tool to define which missions could be assigned to the UAV until the next battery recharge. This work presents a methodology to predict the RUL of Li-Po （Lithium-Polymer） batteries. The approach uses an extended Kalman filter and an exponential model for the degradation evolution. The proposed methodology uses time series of battery terminal voltages, assuming that the discharge occurs under a constant current condition. Different discharge current levels were *** results showed that the proposed methodology provides good results, despite its simplicity.

In areas highly affected by anthropogenic disturbances,artificial(human-made)freshwater ecosystems can provide habitat for maintaining and conserving regional freshwater *** assessed how the physical habitat of artificial ponds affected the structure of benthic macroinvertebrate *** do so,we tested two hypotheses.(1)Physical habitat disturbances are not detrimental to the diversity of nearby artificial ponds,and(2)Physical habitat disturbances do not cause significant shifts in taxonomic *** results rejected both null hypotheses,i.e.,macroinvertebrate diversity metrics correlated significantly and positively with Physical Habitat Integrity index scores,and only sites with high habitat condition scores were significantly associated with sensitive indicator *** results highlight the importance of maintaining physical habitat conditions for sustaining the ecological health of artificial ponds.

Freshwater gastropods play a pivotal role in the structure and functioning of freshwater ecosystems,but despite their importance,there are still gaps in their *** goal was to understand what physical habitat factors are the most important for the distribution of freshwater gastropods in headwater stream ecosystems in the Neotropical Savanna and provide a baseline for conservation and management efforts for freshwater gastropods in this *** identified five taxa,each with different environmental *** presence related negatively with stream slope,Biomphalaria presence related positively with total dissolved solids and the proportions of cobble,fine sediment and organic *** presence correlated positively with elevation and the proportion of pools in the *** presence related negatively with total dissolved solids and positively with *** tuberculata presence correlated positively with the proportion of coarse *** results highlight the challenge for protecting native freshwater gastropod assemblages(and managing non-native invasive species),because environmental preferences vary widely amongst taxa and most are vulnerable to common anthropogenic disturbances.

The torsional vibration of power transmission shaft is a phenomenon whose analytical modeling can be represented by a differential equation of motion proposed by technical literature. The solutions of these equations need coefficients and parameters that, usually, must be experimentally estimated. This work uses a resistive electric SG （strain gage） to dynamically determine strains produced in the shaft due to harmonic oscillatory motion under multiaxial loading. This movement is simulated on a prototype specially developed for this purpose. It comprises a pulley attached to the end of a stepped cantilevered shaft, which is clamped at the opposite end. In this configuration, a cam generates a torque to the system, springs regulate the stiffness and the damping coefficient of the assembly, as well as they can be suitably adjusted to produce an underdamped condition. The main advantage, highlighted in this study, refers to a major simplification. Although the system under study shows multiple degrees of freedom （torsion and bending）, the shape and the positioning of linking SGs with the resistor bridge （Wheatstone Bridge）, allow ＂to evaluate the loading effects independently, as if only one degree of freedom of the system exists at a time domain. Strains graphs for two forms of cyclic torsional oscillation, analytical and experimental, were successfully generated.
