Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi（AMF） are important during revegetation of mining sites, but few studies compared AMF community in revegetated sites with pristine adjacent ecosystems. The aim of this study was to assess AMF species richness in a revegetated iron-mining site and adjacent ecosystems and to relate AMF occurrence to soil chemical parameters. Soil samples were collected in dry and rainy seasons in a revegetated iron-mining site（RA） and compared with pristine ecosystems of forest（FL）, canga（NG）,and Cerrado（CE）. AMF species were identified by spore morphology from field and trap cultures and by LSU r DNA sequencing using Illumina. A total of 62 AMF species were recovered, pertaining to 18 genera and nine families of Glomeromycota. The largest number of species and families were detected in RA, and Acaulospora mellea and Glomus sp1 were the most frequent species. Species belonging to Glomeraceae and Acaulosporaceae accounted for 42%–48% of total species richness. Total number of spores and mycorrhizal inoculum potential tended to be higher in the dry than in the rainy season, except in RA. Sequences of uncultured Glomerales were dominant in all sites and seasons and five species were detected exclusively by DNA-based identification. Redundancy analysis evidenced soil p H,organic matter, aluminum, and iron as main factors influencing AMF presence. In conclusion, revegetation of the iron-mining site seems to be effective in maintaining a diverse AMF community and different approaches are complementary to reveal AMF species, despite the larger number of species being identified by traditional identification of field spores.

Growth of Variable Aspect Ratio ZnO Nanorods by Solochemical Processing

In this work,variable aspect ratio（length divided by diameter） zinc oxide nanorods were synthesized through a simple solochemical method by reacting a Zn2+precursor with sodium hydroxide at low reaction *** analysis of the X-ray diffraction data indicated that the samples had hexagonal wurtzite structure and nanometric size *** transmission electron microscopy（Tem） images of the products prepared at60 and 80 ℃ exhibited rod-like architecture,showing that the reaction temperature did not affect the ZnO *** average aspect ratio of the ZnO nanorods decreased from 3.4 to 2.4 when the reaction temperature was raised from 60 to 80 ℃.The samples presented a blue shift in the excitonic absorption compared to ZnO bulk that increased alongside with reaction *** addition,this research investigated the results obtained by varying the concentration of zinc chloride *** the same temperature,it could be verified that when the zinc concentration was increased,the diameter of the ZnO nanorods also slightly increased,and much shorter nanorods were achieved,especially in the reactions performed at 50 and 70 ℃.Finally,the growth mechanism of the ZnO nanostructures was proposed based on the results obtained by changing the zinc precursor concentration and reaction temperature.

High Resolution Mass Spectrometry Elucidation of Captopril’s Ozonation and Chlorination By-Products

The article evaluated the degradation of the captopril in aqueous solution after ozonation and chlorination. The process was continuously monitored focusing on the identification, mass spectrometry and elucidation of its by-products by applying direct infusion and high performance liquid chromatography, electrospray ionization high resolution mass spectrometry, in the negative ion mode. The cytotoxicity of its by-products solutions were evaluated with 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. It was observed through that after 30 min of ozonation and chlorination, there was complete oxidation of captopril, i.e., 100% removal efficiency. At these conditions, the rate of mineralization, by total organic carbon, was only 7.63% for ozonation and 6.40% for chlorination, evidencing the formation of degradation by-products. Ten captopril by-products were identified and their respective chemical structures elucidations are proposed. The treated samples and their by-products were nontoxic to HepG2 cells by MTT assay.

Identification of Artificial Neural Network Models for Three-Dimensional Simulation of a Vibration-Acoustic Dynamic System

Industrial noise can be successfully mitigated with the combined use of passive and Active Noise Control (ANC) strategies. In a noisy area, a practical solution for noise attenuation may include both the use of baffles and ANC. When the operator is required to stay in movement in a delimited spatial area, conventional ANC is usually not able to adequately cancel the noise over the whole area. New control strategies need to be devised to achieve acceptable spatial coverage. A three-dimensional actuator model is proposed in this paper. Active Noise Control (ANC) usually requires a feedback noise measurement for the proper response of the loop controller. In some situations, especially where the real-time tridimensional positioning of a feedback transducer is unfeasible, the availability of a 3D precise noise level estimator is indispensable. In our previous works [1,2], using a vibrating signal of the primary source of noise as an input reference for spatial noise level prediction proved to be a very good choice. Another interesting aspect observed in those previous works was the need for a variable-structure linear model, which is equivalent to a sort of a nonlinear model, with unknown analytical equivalence until now. To overcome this in this paper we propose a model structure based on an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) as a nonlinear black-box model to capture the dynamic nonlinear behaveior of the investigated process. This can be used in a future closed loop noise cancelling strategy. We devise an ANN architecture and a corresponding training methodology to cope with the problem, and a MISO (Multi-Input Single-Output) model structure is used in the identification of the system dynamics. A metric is established to compare the obtained results with other works elsewhere. Remarks on the application of two-dimensional shape factors under severe wear conditions

The use of two-dimensional shape parameters to characterize abrasive particles is a potential approach to express their angularity. Nevertheless, in sliding abrasion, especially in pin abrasion testing, these descriptors could not be suitable for characterizing severe wear of engineering materials such as steels and cast irons. This work compares the applicability of two-dimensional shape parameters in describing severe wear of metals in recent pin abrasion tests with cases where they could have been correlated with the wear rates. Considering these aspects, this work puts in evidence the importance of clogging occurrence and the coated paper structure for a carefully application of shape parameters. In addition, it is proposed a possible relation between the shape parameters and one of the components of the abrasion factor.

Risk Analysis： A Methodology Applicable to the Building Inspection

The lack of care related to maintenance management is directly linked to the absence of plans for maintenance of buildings. Because of that, there is a big incidence of building accidents caused by the negligence of managers and the lack of investment. The research has shown that, although building inspection is a consolidated building maintenance tool, managers do not prepare their building maintenance plan, nor use building inspection as a tool, leading the buildings to the premature obsolescence. The research calls attention to the building inspection technique that can be used to evaluate building maintenance and conservation. It is also a tool for analysis and investment planning based on actions to solve failures and anomalies that might come out during the building inspection. Those failures and anomalies are classified according to their degree of risk, determining the technical priorities of the investment adjustment in the maintenance plan. The paper presents a risk analysis methodology which classifies inspect elements in a building, determining the priority order of services to be executed on a scale from minimum risk （1） to imminent risk （5）. The method shows a tool for building inspection, and it serves as a guideline for building maintenance interventions.

Chemical Characterization of Auriferous Ores from the Brazilian State of Paraiba

One of the most important problems facing the gold industry is that the placer and free milling gold ores are almost terminating. Hence, the use of refractory ores has been increased during the recent years. In general, gold refractory ores occurs in various types of deposits associated with a range of minerals. Among the refractory ores, the sulfide type is the most common. The methodology employed in the mining process depends on the mode of occurrence of the ore and on the particle size, shape and degree of purity of the auriferous species. We have undertaken a mineralogical investigation of a representative sample of a complex gold mining ore collected in the municipality of Princesa Isabel, Paraiba, Brazil, using X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, X-ray diffractometry, infrared spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry and the Fire Assay. The results showed that the arsenic content of the ore was closely related to the gold content, and that the occurrence of “invisible gold” was associated primarily with pyrite and secondarily with arsenopyrite. The sulfur content of the ore was directly related to its refractoriness. It is concluded that gold mineralization in the study area is mainly of the gold-quartz-sulfide veins (lode gold), while the gold found in the mini-fractures of the deposits is probably associated with the hydrothermal processes that occurred in the region.

Energy simulation is a valuable tool for evaluating and improving the thermal performance and energy efficiency of buildings during the design *** evaluation methods are thermal load(TL),degree-hour(DH),and design days(DD).The choice of method and its settings may vary depending on regional factors and researchers’preferences,leading to diverse and often incompatible metrics and ***,this study aims to investigate the influence of these evaluation methods on the assessment of buildings’performance and,consequently,on design *** this purpose,this study compared the results of the 3 evaluation methods and different settings for 3 different wall systems,4 ranges of comfort temperature,and 2 residential models located in the 8 Brazilian bioclimatic *** result,the best and worst wall systems varied depending on the evaluation method and the threshold/setpoint temperature range *** regions showed greater variability in the *** noticed that it is not possible to compare and interpret results from different evaluation methods,and that the variation of only 1℃in the setpoint temperatures can lead to entirely different practices being considered the best for a given building *** conclusion,the most suitable evaluation method is the one that best portrays the operation and dynamic reality of the building to be designed,and building regulations and standards can occasionally lead to unrealistic assessments.
