Objective: To predict the trend of cutaneous leishmaniasis and assess the relationship between the disease trend and weather variables in south of Fars province using Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average(SARIMA) model,Methods: The trend of cutaneous leishmaniasis was predicted using Mini tab software and SARIMA model,Besides,information about the disease and weather conditions was collected monthly based on time series design during January 2010 to March 2016,Moreover,various SARIMA models were assessed and the best one was selected,Then,the model's fitness was evaluated based on normality of the residuals' distribution,correspondence between the fitted and real amounts,and calculation of Akaike Information Criteria(AIC) and Bayesian Information Criteria(BIC),Results: The study results indicated that SARIMA model(4,1,4)(0,1,0)(12) in general and SARIMA model(4,1,4)(0,1,1)(12) in below and above 15 years age groups could appropriately predict the disease trend in the study area,Moreover,temperature with a three-month delay(lag3) increased the disease trend,rainfall with a four-month delay(lag4) decreased the disease trend,and rainfall with a nine-month delay(lag9) increased the disease trend,Conclusions: Based on the results,leishmaniasis follows a descending trend in the study area in case drought condition continues,SARIMA models can suitably measure the disease trend,and the disease follows a seasonal trend.

Pancreatic cancer is a not-infrequent cause of cancer death, ranking below only lung, prostate or breast, and colorectal cancer in many countries. Germline mutations and chronic pancreatitis have been implicatd in a small fraction of cases. Cigarette smokin is the one established risk factor for this disease, however its underlying mechanism of action is uncertain. We have proposed in the etiology the synergistic involvement of dietary or other N-nitrosamine or N-nitrosamide exposures, and of conditions of chronic excess gastric or duodenal acidity. Chronic low-level hyperchlorhydria is induced by colonization by Helicobacter pylori, under host inflammatory cytokine phenotypes that do not suppress gastric acid production. The objective of this report is to review physiologic and epidemiologic evidence implicating N-nitrosamines, Helicobacter pylori and inflammatory cytokine variants in causing pancreatic cancer.

Zika virus infection becomes the important global problem in the present day. The worldwide distribution of the infection can be seen. The genetic epidemiology study shows that the infection has subgroups of outbreaks. The Asian lineage is an interesting group that can be seen in a wide area. In this short article, the authors reappraises on the phylogenetic data of Asian lineage. The study on period, distance and phylogenetic parameter differences among isolated from several countries in the Asia lineage group is done. Based on the present study, the time and place dimnensional analysis can show that the disease distribution should be mainly induced by the international traveling.

Background: Data on diabetes mellitus in general population in Benin is scarce. This study aimed therefore to assess prevalence and risk factors of diabetes mellitus in Benin. Methods: The study consisted of a cross-sectional survey, using the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s instrument for stepwise surveillance (STEPS) of non-communicable diseases risk factors. A five-stage random sample of 25 to 64 years old male and female adults living in Benin participated in structured interviews and their size, weight and blood pressure were measured according to standardized procedures. Glycaemia was measured using ACCUTREND? test strips for capillary blood glucose. Prevalence and means were computed with their 95% confidence interval and standard error respectively, taking into account the sampling design. Prevalence was compared by Khi2 and means by Student’s t test. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were performed to identify socio-demographic diabetes’s risk factors. Results: A total of 3772 adults participated in the study. The average age of respondents was 44.2 years. Overall, 68.3% of subjects were illiterate, 82.4% lived in rural areas, 82.57% were self-employed, 20% overweight, 7.51% obese and the prevalence of hypertension was 29.5 p.100. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus was 1.4 p.100 [CI95% = (0.94:2.05)]. This prevalence was higher in men than in women (2.1% vs. 0.8%, p = 0.0031). This prevalence was higher in urban areas than in rural areas. The Littoral department had the highest prevalence (3.4%), followed by the Collines department (2.7%), Donga (2.4%) and Borgou (2.3%). As many as 49.3% of subjects diagnosed with diabetes mellitus were not aware of their status. The age group of 56 - 64 years had the highest risk [OR = 6.6, IC95% = (1.6;22.4)]. The risk of diabetes was higher in people living in urban areas than in people living in rural areas [OR = 3.04 CI95% = (1.6;6.0)]. After controlling for confounding factors, risk factors of diabet

Born in Dinghai County of Zhejiang province in June, 1926, Guan-Fu Zhu began to study at School of Medicine, Tongji University, in October, 1946 （Fig. 1）. Then he moved to the Department of Bacteriology and Immunology of Peking Union Medical College in September, 1954, where he got his master degree under the supervision of Prof. Shao-Wen Xie, a renowned microbiologist and immunologist. In July, 1951, Mr. Zhu served as an assistant in teaching and research section of the Second Military Medical University of PLA. In January, 1958, he began to work at the Institute of Microbi- ology and epidemiology, Academy of Military Medical Sci- ences, successively serving as a research assistant, assistant professor, associate professor and professor. Due to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, Mr. Guan- Fu Zhu unfortunately passed away on November 7th, 2015, at the age of 89.
