AIM To investigate the efficacy and safety of a combination of sufentanil and propofol injection in patients undergoing endoscopic injection sclerotherapy(EIS) for esophageal varices(EVs). METHODS Patients with severe EVs who underwent EIS with sufentanil and propofol anesthesia between April 2016 and July 2016 at our hospital were reviewed. Although EIS and sequential therapy were performed under endotracheal intubation, we only evaluated the efficacy and safety of anesthesia for the first EIS procedure. Patients were intravenously treated with 0.5-1 μg/kg sufentanil. Anesthesia was induced with 1-2 mg/kg propofol and maintained using 2-5 mg/kg per hour of propofol. Information, regarding age, sex, weight, American Association of Anesthesiologists(ASA) physical status, Child-Turcotte-Pugh(CTP) classification, indications, preanesthetic problems, endoscopic procedure, successful completion of the procedure, anesthesia time, recovery time, and anesthetic agents, was recorded. Adverse events, including hypotension, hypertension, bradycardia, and hypoxia, were also *** Propofol and sufentanil anesthesia was provided in 182 procedures involving 140 men and 42 women aged 56.1± 11.7 years(range, 25-83 years). The patients weighed 71.4 ± 10.7 kg(range, 45-95 kg) and had ASA physical status classifications of Ⅱ(79 patients) or Ⅲ(103 patients). Ninety-five patients had a CTP classification of A and 87 had a CTP classification of B. Intravenous anesthesia was successful in all cases. The mean anesthesia time was 33.1 ± 5.8 min. The mean recovery time was 12.3 ± 3.7 min. Hypotension occurred in two patients(1.1%, 2/182). No patient showed hypertension during the endoscopic therapy procedure. Bradycardia occurred in one patient(0.5%, 1/182), and hypoxia occurred in one patient(0.5%, 1/182). All complications were easily treated with no adverse sequelae. Photobiomodulation therapy(PBMT)is a rapidly growing approach to the healing,stimulation,protection,and regeneration of many human organs and tissue *** started in the 1960s as low-level laser therapy for wound healing,but since then the introduction of light-emitting diodes(LEDs)has dramatically increased the number of applications and reports of positive *** generally uses red(620-700 nm)and/or near-infrared(780-1270 nm)wavelengths of light at an intensity that causes no tissue heating,and its activity is based on well-established biological and cellular mechanisms(de Freitas and Hamblin,2016).While laser therapists continue to use various types of laser in their office practice,LEDs are ideally suited for home use devices because they are completely safe and without any known significant adverse *** the various body parts on which PBMT has been shown to exert beneficial effects,the brain stands out as perhaps the most promising *** has been shown to reduce neuroinflammation,while increasing mitochondrial function,oxygen consumption,and blood flow within the brain(Hamblin,2016).Moreover,PBMT can stimulate the processes of synaptogenesis,neurogenesis,and neuroplasticity thus helping the brain to heal itself.

Background:In today’s society,parental stress has become a prevalent and significant issue,impacting not only parents’mental health but also potentially profoundly affecting children’s growth and *** topic has garnered continuous attention from *** present study aims to delve into the relationship between parental stress and children’s behavior,particularly focusing on children’s conformity and discipline development during crucial *** study aims to explore the relationship between parental stress,child conformity,and resilience,and further examines the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between parental stress and child ***:We used three scales:the Parental Stress Scale,the Child Conformity Scale,and the Resilience Scale,to survey 890 elementary school students(aged 6–12)and their parents in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region of *** employed SPSS 26.0 software for data analysis,conducting descriptive statistics,correlation analysis,and mediation effect tests *** the mediation effect tests,we utilized structural equation modeling(SEM)and regression analysis to examine the mediation effects,ensuring the accuracy and scientific nature of our ***:Through descriptive statistics,correlation analysis,regression models,and mediation effect tests,we found that parental stress significantly negatively predicts child conformity,while resilience shows a significant positive *** mediation analysis indicates that resilience plays a partial mediating role between parental stress and child conformity,with the mediation effect accounting for 36.67%.Conclusion:These findings highlight the importance of the family environment on child behavior and provide valuable insights and recommendations for family education practices in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei ***,we suggest future research should further explore the complex relationships among parental stress,child conformity,and

Cross border traders make a major contribution to the growth of economies in southern africa. Cross border trade is a source of livelihood for many poor people, especially women. However, few studies examined challenges facing cross border traders and future business *** aim of this paper is to examine the challenges that face Zimbabwean cross border traders in south africa. The paper goes further to review existing literature as well as empirical studies in order to identify the major challenges that face Zimbabwean cross border traders. Among the challenges noted are crime, harassment due to xenophobia, traders are often stigmatized as ＂prostitutes＂ or ＂smugglers＂, accommodation problems, extortion and bribery by the south african Police and municipal police officials, delays at the border post during peak periods and banks that close early and also do not operate on Sundays. The Zimbabwean Cross Border Traders Association should build office in Musina and Johannesburg so that members can easily consult with the association in times of problems and also help with marketing information like distribution of brochures showcasing Zimbabwean products sold by cross border traders and also organize fairs where Zimbabwean traders can display their products. Furthermore cases of harassment by police officials should be investigated and dealt with. Banks that do have branches at the border posts are also urged to provide 24 hour service to cross border traders.

Background:High early morbidity and mortality following antiretroviral therapy(ART)initiation has been a distinguishing feature of ART programmes in resource limited settings(RLS)compared to high-income *** study assessed how well body mass index(BMI:kg/m^(2))correlated with survival among HIV infected patients with and without TB ***:We retrospectively evaluated clinical data from 1000 HIV infected patients,among whom 389 were also co-infected with TB,between January 2008 and December 2010,in KwaZulu-Natal,south ***:Among 948 patients eligible for analysis,15.7%(149/948)were underweight(<18.50),55.9%(530/948)had normal BMI(≥18.50-24.90),18.7%(177/948)were overweight(25.00-29.00)and 9.7%(92/948)were obese(≥30.00).Irrespective of TB status,underweight patients,had significantly higher risk of death compared to those with normal BMI at baseline(aHR=2.9;95%CI:1.5-5.7;P=0.002).Conclusions:Irrespective of TB co-infection,low BMI correlated with mortality in HIV infected *** registration:UKZN Biomedical Research Ethics Committee Reference number E 248/05,23 September 2005.

south africa's contemporary political relations with China shows a resemblance in political thinking and beliefs that forms the basis for solidarity and draws the two countries closer on ideological *** literature points out that when states shares similar characteristics,certain hypotheses exists that can provide an analytical explanation of alignment *** ideological push by China aims to promote the political like-mindedness of the Chinese Communist Party(CCP)and african National Congress(ANC)and manifests in the launching of party training *** with Chinese characteristics forms the core of the training programs,which is used to strengthen party structures,advance solidarity and maintain official party-to-party *** with an ANC party official provide a first-hand account of the beliefs of the current south african president and also what the stance of the south african Communist party(SACP)is.A major difference is that the ANC leader regards the Chinese way of governance as important,while the SACP focus on solidifying party *** light of this,the impact party training programs can have in testing the alignment hypotheses is examined in the *** findings reflect on the similar traits both parties share and the significance of the alignment to strengthen the political ideological relationship.
