Introduction : malaria remains a public health priority in senegal, particularly in Tambacounda, where it is one of the main causes of child mortality. The objective of this work was to evaluate the care of children under 10 years of age hospitalized at the Tambacounda Health Center and the factors associated with recovery. Methods : An analytical, retrospective, and descriptive cross-sectional study with exhaustive recruitment of children 0 to 120 months hospitalized at the Tambacounda reference health center for severe malaria (according to WHO criteria) between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2021 was performed. Data collection was done through a questionnaire. Records, hospitalization records, and treatment records were the sources of collection. Data entry and analysis were performed on Epi Info 7.2 and R. Results : A total of 481 children hospitalized with severe malaria were recruited. The highest number of cases was recorded in 2018 (33.05%). In the four years of the study, peaks were always observed between October and November and the highest peak in November 2020 with 95 cases. The mean age was 65.64 months with a standard deviation of 29.28 months and a predominance of male (53.43%). The majority of people were admitted from the outpatient clinic (57.79%) and the rest (42.21%) on the recommendation of a peripheral health post. All hospitalized patients had a positive RDT and/or a positive thick drop. However, the sharp decline at admission or during hospitalization was positive in 93.80% of patients in our series, negative in 5.20% and not achieved in 1.00%. seizures and severe anemia topped the list of signs of severity with 45.94% and 8.11%, respectively. In terms of evolution, for all hospitalized patients, there were 81.29% recovery, 10.19% referral to the Tambacounda regional hospital center for hospitalization, 4.99% death, 0.83% discharge and 2.70% unknown evolution. Research Progress of Epigenetics in Liver Cancer

Epigenetic changes are changes in gene expression by regulating gene transcription and translation without changing the nucleotide sequence of the genome. Although the genome itself changes during the occurrence and development of most malignant tumors, recent studies have found that epigenetic changes also play an important role in the occurrence and development of tumors. Epigenetic modification mainly includes DNA methylation, histone modification and miRNA regulation. This review focuses on the role and mechanism of epigenetic modification in the occurrence, metastasis and invasion of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and summarizes the latest methods for the treatment of HCC by restoring dysregulated epigenetic modification. It provides a theoretical basis for revealing the pathogenesis of liver cancer and developing new methods of diagnosis and treatment.

Effect of Cognitive Behavioral Intervention on Plasma Cortisol in Patients with Breast Cancer PTsD

Objective: To investigate the effect of cognitive behavioral intervention on plasma cortisol in patients with breast cancer PTsD before surgery. Methods: sCL-90, EPQ-N and cognitive behavior intervention were performed on 30 patients with PTsD, 30 patients without PTsD and 30 normal subjects, and their fasting blood was collected to analyze cortisol in the morning. Results: The scores of sCL-90 and EPQ-N in patients with breast cancer PTsD were significantly higher than those in non-PTsD patients and normal subjects (P sma cortisol level of breast cancer PTsD patients was significantly decreased (P Conclusion: Compared with non-PTsD breast cancer patients and normal control group, breast cancer PTsD patients had more serious psychological problems, worse emotional stability and higher plasma cortisol level. Cognitive-behavioral intervention can effectively reduce plasma cortisol levels in breast cancer patients with PTsD.

Climate change vulnerability assessment in the new urban planning process in Tanzania

Climate change vulnerability assessment is an essential tool for identifying regions that are most susceptible to the impacts of climate change and designing effective adaptation actions that can reduce vulnerability and enhance long-term resilience of these regions. This study explored a framework for climate change vulnerability assessment in the new urban planning process in Jangwani Ward, Tanzania. specifically, taking flood as an example, this study highlighted the steps and methods for climate change vulnerability assessment in the new urban planning process. In the study area, 95 households were selected and interviewed through purposeful sampling. Additionally, 10 respondents(4 females and 6 males) were interviewed for Focus Group Discussion(FGD), and 3 respondents(1 female and 2 males) were selected for Key Informant Interviews(KII) at the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human settlements Development. This study indicated that climate change vulnerability assessment framework involves the assessment of climatic hazards, risk elements, and adaptive capacity, and the determination of vulnerability levels. The average hazard risk rating of flood was 2.3. socioeconomic and livelihood activities and physical infrastructures both had the average risk element rating of 3.0, and ecosystems had the average risk element rating of 2.9. Adaptive capacity ratings of knowledge, technology, economy or finance, and institution were 1.6, 1.9, 1.4, and 2.2, respectively. The vulnerability levels of socioeconomic and livelihood activities and physical infrastructure were very high(4.0). Ecosystems had a high vulnerability level(3.8) to flood. The very high vulnerability level of socioeconomic and livelihood activities was driven by high exposure and sensitivity to risk elements and low adaptive capacity. Correlation study of Neurotransmitter and Immune Levels in Pre-Hospital Emergency Nurses with Post-Traumatic stress Disorder

Objective: To investigate the occurrence of PTsD in pre-hospital emergency nurses and its related factors, and to compare the differences of neurotransmitter and immune-related factors between pre-hospital emergency nurses who experienced traumatic events and those who did not develop PTsD and healthy people. How: Post-traumatic stress Disorder self-Rating scale (PCL-C) tests were performed on pre-hospital emergency nurses in PTsD group, non-PTsD group and healthy control group, and the plasma monoamine neurotransmitters and serum cytokines were determined by double-antibody sandwich ABC-ELIsA assay using enzyme-linked adsorption kit provided by shanghai Xitang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Hypoxic and temporal variation in the endocrine disrupting toxicity of perfluorobutanesulfonate in marine medaka(Oryzias melastigma)

Perfluorobutanesulfonate(PFBs)is an emerging pollutant capable of potently disrupting the sex and thyroid endocrine systems of ***,the hypoxic and temporal variation in PFBs endocrine disrupting toxicity remain largely *** the present study,adult marine medaka were exposed to environmentally realistic concentrations of PFBs(0 and 10μg/L)under normoxia or hypoxia conditions for 7 days,aiming to explore the interactive behavior between PFBs and *** addition,PFBs singular exposure was extended till 21days under normoxia to elucidate the time-course progression in PFBs *** results showed that hypoxia inhibited the growth and caused the suspension of egg spawn regardless of PFBs *** regard to the sex endocrine system,7-day PFBs exposure led to an acute stimulation of transcriptional profiles in females,which,subsequently,recovered after the 21-day *** potency of hypoxia to disturb the sex hormones was much stronger than PFBs.A remarkable increase in estradiol concentration was noted in medaka blood after hypoxia *** in sex endocrinology of coexposed fish were largely determined by hypoxia,which drove the formation of an estrogenic *** further enhanced the endocrine disrupting effects of ***,the hepatic synthesis of vitellogenin and choriogenin,two commonly used sensitive biomarkers of estrogenic activity,failed to initiate in response to the estrogen *** to sex endocrine system,disturbances in thyroidal axis by PFBs or hypoxia were relatively ***,the present findings will advance our toxicological understanding about PFBs pollutant under the interference of hypoxia.

The efficacy of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) is increasingly compromised by the prevalence of malaria vectors resistant to pyrethroids. In response to this issue, a new generation of ITNs has been developed that incorporate synergistic components, such as piperonyl butoxide (PBO). The purpose of this study is to provide entomological evidence for the efficacy of a PBO-based ITN brand at the village level, serving as a basis for decision-making before large-scale net deployment. During the high malaria transmission period, ITNs were distributed in each group and vector sampling was conducted biweekly in selected households. Bionomic data were collected to assess the resistance of wild An. gambiae populations to various chemical insecticides. There was a significant disparity in total An. gambiae sl. collected between the ITN arms, the intervention arm (ITN arms), and the control arm (P = 0.003). An. coluzzi was identified as the predominant species in the study area, as confirmed by PCR analysis. Analysis of the blood-feeding inhibition rate revealed that 100% permethrin + PBO ITN exhibited significantly greater inhibition than 66.81% permethrin only ITN. According to the log-time probit regression analysis, permethrin exhibited a knockdown time of 256 min without synergists, while it decreased to 139 min (P = 0.001) when pre-exposed to PBO. The evidence from this trial supports the use of PBO ITNs over standard ITNs for pyrethroids to combat pyrethroid resistance and improve protection against malaria for both individuals and communities, particularly in areas with high pyrethroid resistance.
