Elastic and Inelastic Response of Structural Systems in Seismic Pounding

The present paper addresses the comparative study of three adjacent single-degree-of freedom structures for elastic and inelastic system with and without pounding under seismic excitations. For the gap between three adjacent structures, the simulation is done by using linear spring element without damping. The entire numerical simulation is done in time domain by considering the inputs of four real ground motions. The results of the study show that the response of elastic system is much different to that of response of inelastic system in the absence and presence of pounding, especially in lighter or more flexible structures. Elastic structures show much severe pounding response than inelastic structures. Modeling of colliding structures behaving inelastically is really needed in order to obtain the accurate structural pounding involved response under seismic excitation.

Background: Diabetic nephropathy is the most common cause of chronic kidney disease and the number afflicted patients continues to rise. The presence of proteinuria has been considered as a prerequisite for the diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy. But one third to one half of type 2 diabetics with CKD have no proteinuria and the pathology of non proteinuric CKD in this group remains unclear as renal biopsy is commonly not performed in these patients. The present study addresses the question: Can a classical diabetic nephropathy occur in the absence of proteinuria? Method: We examined renal biopsies of subjects who underwent nephrectomy from 1999 to 2009 for renal cancer, had eGFR < 60 ml/min and no microalbuminuria or proteinuria. 10 diabetics were matched with 10 non diabetics for age, hypertension and baseline creatinine. Results: The diabetic subjects had advanced diabetic lesions even in absence of proteinuria. Tubules and tubular-interstitium was relatively well preserved. Diabetic glomerulosclerosis can occur in the absence of microalbuminuria. Conclusions: It is becoming increasingly apparent that a considerable proportion of subjects with type 2 diabetes can develop renal impairment in the absence of albuminuria. Diabetic glomerulosclerosis may develop before the proteinuria can be detected and relying on albumin excretion as first sign for renal involvement may be too late in diagnosing and modifying the progression of the kidney disease.

The establishment of an elastostatic stiffness model for over constrained parallel manipulators(PMs),particularly those with over constrained subclosed loops,poses a challenge while ensuring numerical *** study addresses this issue by proposing a systematic elastostatic stiffness model based on matrix structural analysis(MSA)and independent displacement coordinates(IDCs)extraction *** begin,the closed-loop PM is transformed into an open-loop PM by eliminating constraints.A subassembly element is then introduced,which considers the flexibility of both rods and *** approach helps circumvent the numerical instability typically encountered with traditional constraint *** IDCs and analytical constraint equations of nodes constrained by various joints are summarized in the appendix,utilizing multipoint constraint theory and singularity analysis,all unified within a single coordinate ***,the open-loop mechanism is efficiently closed by referencing the constraint equations presented in the appendix,alongside its elastostatic *** proposed method proves to be both modeling and computationally efficient due to the comprehensive summary of the constraint equations in the Appendix,eliminating the need for additional *** example utilizing an over constrained subclosed loops demonstrate the application of the proposed *** conclusion,the model proposed in this study enriches the theory of elastostatic stiffness modeling of PMs and provides an effective solution for stiffness modeling challenges they present.

The present work addresses the robust H control issue of switched uncertain systems with input quantization. We present the criteria that the switched uncertain systems is robust stabilizable with H performance. Besides, in the presence of quantization, the designed controller comprises the main part and extra part, where the main part is designed to against systems uncertainties, and the extra part is designed to deal with the effect of quantization errors. Finally, a numerical example has been shown that the derived the technique is practicable and valid.

Rust fungi are devastating plant pathogens and cause a large economic impact on wheat production *** resistant wheat varieties is the most economical,effective,and environmentally friendly approach for controlling the ***,most race-specific host resistance genes have transient protection,probably due to the rapid evolution of new virulent rust fungal *** interference is a prospective tool for control of pathogenic fungi that has been experimentally validated in a large number of *** overcome the rapidly loss of varieties resistance of Pst,we generated stable transgenic wheat plants expressing siRNAs targeting potentially vital genes of Puccinia striiformis ***(Pst).Protein kinase A(PKA) has been proved to play important roles in regulating the virulence of phytopathogenic ***1,a PKA catalytic subunit gene from Pst,is highly induced at the early infection stage of *** instantaneous silencing of PsCPK1 by barley stripe mosaic virus(BSMV)-mediated host-induced gene silencing(HIGS) results in a significant reduction in the length of infection hyphae and disease *** results indicate that PsCPK1 is an important pathogenicity factor by regulating Pst growth and *** transgenic lines(L12 and L18) expressing the RNAi construct in a normally susceptible wheat cultivar displayed high levels of stable and consistent resistance to Pst throughout the T to T *** presence of the interfering RNAs in transgenic wheat plants was confirmed by northern blotting,and these RNAs were found to efficiently down-regulate PsCPK1 expression in *** present study addresses important aspects for the development of fungal-derived resistance through the expression of silencing constructs in host plants as a powerful strategy to control cereal rust diseases and contribute to environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture.

The osteochondral defects(OCDs)resulting from the treatment of giant cell tumors of bone(GCTB)often present two challenges for clinicians:tumor residue leading to local recurrence and non-healing of ***,this study focuses on developing a double-layer PGPC-PGPH scaffold using shell-core structure nanofibers to achieve“spatiotemporal control”for treating OCDs caused by *** addresses two key challenges:eliminating tumor residue after local excision and stimulating osteochondral regeneration in non-healing OCD *** a shell layer of protoporphyrin IX(PpIX)/gelatin(GT)and inner cores containing chondroitin sulfate(CS)/poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)or hydroxyapatite(HA)/PLGA,coaxial electrospinning technology was used to create shell-core structured PpIX/GT-CS/PLGA and PpIX/GT-HA/PLGA *** nanofibers were shattered into nano-scaled short fibers,and then combined with polyethylene oxide and hyaluronan to formulate distinct 3D printing *** upper layer consists of PpIX/GT-CS/PLGA ink,and the lower layer is made from PpIX/GT-HA/PLGA ink,allowing for the creation of a double-layer PGPC-PGPH scaffold using 3D printing *** GCTB lesion removal,the PGPC-PGPH scaffold is surgically implanted into the *** sonosensitizer PpIX in the shell layer undergoes sonodynamic therapy to selectively damage GCTB tissue,effectively eradicating residual ***,the thermal effect of sonodynamic therapy accelerates the shell degradation and release of CS and HA within the core layer,promoting stem cell differentiation into cartilage and bone tissues at the OCD site in the correct anatomical *** innovative scaffold provides temporal control for anti-tumor treatment followed by tissue repair and spatial control for precise osteochondral regeneration.

In recent years,vehicular cloud computing(VCC)has gained vast attention for providing a variety of services by creating virtual machines(VMs).These VMs use the resources that are present in modern smart *** studies reported that some of these VMs hosted on the vehicles are overloaded,whereas others are *** a circumstance,the energy consumption of overloaded vehicles is drastically *** the other hand,underloaded vehicles are also drawing considerable energy in the underutilized ***,minimizing the energy consumption of the VMs that are hosted by both overloaded and underloaded is a challenging issue in the VCC *** proper and efcient utilization of the vehicle’s resources can reduce energy consumption *** of the solutions is to improve the resource utilization of underloaded vehicles by migrating the over-utilized VMs of overloaded *** the other hand,a large number of VM migrations can lead to wastage of energy and time,which ultimately degrades the performance of the *** paper addresses the issues mentioned above by introducing a resource management algorithm,called resource utilization-aware VM migration(RU-VMM)algorithm,to distribute the loads among the overloaded and underloaded vehicles,such that energy consumption is ***-VMM monitors the trend of resource utilization to select the source and destination vehicles within a predetermined threshold for the process of VM *** ensures that any vehicles’resource utilization should not exceed the threshold before or after the ***-VMM also tries to avoid unnecessary VM migrations between the ***-VMM is extensively simulated and tested using nine *** results are carried out using three performance metrics,namely number of nal source vehicles(nfsv),percentage of successful VM migrations(psvmm)and percentage of dropped VM migrations(pdvmm),and compared with threshold-based algorithm(i.e.,threshold)and
