Direct and rapid detection of serum amino acid and monoamine neurotransmitters to assist the diagnosis of panic disorder

The measurement of amino acid and monoamine neurotransmitters（NTs） in serum plays a central role in the identification and monitoring of clinical panic disorder（PD）. However, the strong polarity and chemical heterogeneity of NTs make direct extraction and rapid detection extremely challenging. Herein, we developed a strategy that integrated solid phase extraction based on magnetic Fe3O4coated with polydopamine（Fe3O4@PDA） and direct analysis of mass spectrometry in real time（DART-MS） for quantification of 10 NTs. We systematically investigated the optimal conditions of this strategy to achieve good accuracy and precision. Compared with existing magnetic solid phase extraction methods for NTs detection in biological samples, this strategy could adsorb more targets while having similar adsorption efficiencies, and the total process time was reduced by an average of 69.42%. We rapidly determined the metabolic abnormality of 6 types of NTs in the serum of PD patients and demonstrated their diagnostic accuracy. In addition, an outstanding feature of PD in which tryptophan was more metabolized by the KYN pathway and the 5-hydroxytryptamine pathway was inhibited could be elucidated by this strategy. Our results highlighted the potential ability of Fe3O4@PDA coupled with DART-MS to assist in the clinical diagnosis of PD.

Psychological and social aspects of infertility in men： an overview of the evidence and implications for psychologically informed clinical care and future research

Research concerning the psychosocial aspects of infertility and infertility treatment focuses more often on women than men. The aim of this review was to synthesize the English-language evidence related to the psychological and social aspects of infertility in men and discuss the implications of these reports for clinical care and future research. A structured search identified 73 studies that reported data concerning the desire for fatherhood and the psychological and social aspects of diagnosis, assisted reproductive technology （ART） treatment and unsuccessful treatment among men with fertility difficulties. The studies are diverse in conceptualisation, design, setting and data collection, but the findings were reasonably consistent. These studies indicated that fertile and infertile childless men of reproductive age have desires to experience parenthood that are similar to those of their female counterparts; in addition, diagnosis and initiation of treatment are associated with elevated infertility-specific anxiety, and unsuccessful treatment can lead to a state of lasting sadness. However, rates of clinically significant mental health problems among this patient population are no higher than in the general population. Infertile men who are socially isolated, have an avoidant coping style and appraise stressful events as overwhelming, are more vulnerable to severe anxiety than men without these characteristics. Men prefer oral to written treatment information and prefer to receive emotional support from infertility clinicians rather than from mental health professionals, self-help support groups or friends. Nevertheless, structured, facilitated psycho-educational groups that are didactic but permit informal sharing of experiences might be beneficial. Food emulsifier glycerin monostearate aggravates phthalates'testicular toxicity by disrupting tight junctions'barrier function in rats

Rapid screening detection of fluoroquinolone residues in milk based on turn-on fluorescence of terbium coordination polymer nanosheets

We report a facile, effective and rapid screening method for the determination of total fluoroquinolones(FQs) in milk using lanthanide coordination polymer nanomaterials as the sensing platform. The nonluminescent coordination polymer nanosheets(CPNSs) used in this work are composed of adenosine monophosphate(AMP) and terbium(Tb^(3+)) ions(AMP/Tb CPNSs). The as-prepared CPNSs were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and fluorescence techniques. Tb^(3+) acts as the center ion of the coordination polymer, with AMP assembled through phosphate and amine groups. However, the reaction between FQs and AMP/Tb CPNSs noticeably turns on the fluorescence due to the strong coordination interaction between FQs and Tb^(3+). Under optimized conditions, the fluorescence intensity of AMP/Tb at 545 nm shows a linear relationship with FQ concentrations between 0.04 μmol/L and 5.0 μmol/L. The relative standard deviation(RSD) of the intraday precision is below 1%, and detection limits are as low as 0.01 μmol/L. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of FQs in milk samples.
