Experimental investigation on the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from a silo with two outlets

An experimental study on the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from a silo with two outlets was *** discharge behaviors under the conditions that a single outlet was open and two outlets were open were investigated by varying the moisture content of the particles and the filling height of the particles in the *** results show that the discharge rate of the cohesive particles increases gradually at the beginning,then almost keeps constant,and finally drops *** discharge rate in case of two openings is around 1.1–1.6 times that in case of a single *** filling height leads to lower discharge rate in case of a single opening but results in higher discharge rate in case of two ***,the avalanche dynamics in case of a single opening was examined,and the mixing behavior of the cohesive particles was *** is observed that the discharge flow is promoted by the avalanche phenomenon in the silo,generating a general trend that the normalized mass of discharge increases with the filling height at higher moisture *** case of a single opening,the transition from mass flow to funnel flow favors the particle mixing,resulting in an increasing mixing index as the moisture content *** general,a better performance of mixing can be achieved in case of a single opening compared with in case of two *** study provides vital information for fundamental understanding of the gravity driven discharge of cohesive particles from the silo with multiple outlets.

Ocean waves and Stokes drift are generated by *** study investigated the characteristics of ocean waves and wave-induced Stokes drift and their effects during Typhoon Mangkhut using European Centre for MediumRange Weather Forecasts(ECMWF)ERA5 datasets and observational *** results revealed that the typhoon generated intense cyclones and huge typhoon waves with a maximum wind speed of 45 m/s,a minimum pressure of955 h Pa,and a maximum significant wave height of 12 *** Stokes drift caused by typhoon waves exceeded 0.6m/s,the Stokes depth scale exceeded 18 m,and the maximum Stokes transport reached 6 m^(2)/*** spatial distribution of 10-m wind speed,typhoon wave height,Stokes drift,Stokes depth,and Stokes transport during the typhoon was highly correlated with the typhoon *** distribution along the typhoon track showed significant zonal asymmetry,with greater intensity on the right side of the typhoon track than on the left *** findings provide important insights into the impact of typhoons on ocean waves and Stokes drift,thus improving our understanding of the interactions between typhoons and the ocean *** study also investigated the contribution of Stokes transport to the total net transport during typhoons using Ekman-Stokes Numbers as a comparative *** results indicated that the ratio of Stokes transport to the total net transport reached up to 50%within the typhoon radius,while it was approximately 30%outside the *** Stokes transport induced by typhoon waves led to divergence in the transport direction,which resulted in upwelling of the lower ocean as a compensation ***,Stokes transport played a crucial role in the vertical mixing of the ocean during *** findings suggested that Stokes transport should be paid more attention to,particularly in high latitude ocean regions,where strong winds can amplify its effects.

Microstructure and Mechanical Property of Mg‑13Gd‑0.2Ni Alloy Processed by Extrusion and Aging

In this work,a good combination of strength and ductility is achieved in a Mg-13Gd-0.2Ni alloy by conventional extrusion and following aging *** aged Mg-13Gd-0.2Ni alloy exhibits a yield strength(YS)of 363 MPa,an ultimate tensile strength(UTS)of 433 MPa,and an elongation of 11.9%.The aged Mg-13Gd-0.2Ni alloy contains a microstructure with a 95%proportion of dynamically recrystallized(DRXed)grains with a micron size,weak texture,and a high number density of prismaticβ′precipitates within *** bulk compounds enriched with Ni element which are mainly formed during casting and stable in the extruded and aged *** dynamic compounds are formed during extrusion,and a high density of prismaticβ′precipitates are formed during *** high density of prismaticβ′precipitates results in a significant increase in the strength of the Mg-13Gd-0.2Ni alloy,and the YS and UTS are increased by 153 and 136 MPa,*** high proportion of DRXed grains with a weak texture contributes mainly to the high ductility and the fine compounds with a low density at grain boundaries formed during aging have no significant adverse effect on ductility of the aged Mg-13Gd-0.2Ni *** findings for the novel Mg-Gd-Ni alloy can provide guidance for the design of wrought Mg alloys with superior mechanical properties.

Sparse Adversarial Learning for FDIA Attack Sample Generation in Distributed Smart

False data injection attack(FDIA)is an attack that affects the stability of grid cyber-physical system(GCPS)by evading the detecting mechanism of bad *** FDIA detection methods usually employ complex neural networkmodels to detect FDIA ***,they overlook the fact that FDIA attack samples at public-private network edges are extremely sparse,making it difficult for neural network models to obtain sufficient samples to construct a robust detection *** address this problem,this paper designs an efficient sample generative adversarial model of FDIA attack in public-private network edge,which can effectively bypass the detectionmodel to threaten the power grid system.A generative adversarial network(GAN)framework is first constructed by combining residual networks(ResNet)with fully connected networks(FCN).Then,a sparse adversarial learning model is built by integrating the time-aligned data and normal data,which is used to learn the distribution characteristics between normal data and attack data through iterative ***,we introduce a Gaussian hybrid distributionmatrix by aggregating the network structure of attack data characteristics and normal data characteristics,which can connect and calculate FDIA data with normal ***,efficient FDIA attack samples can be sequentially generated through interactive adversarial *** simulation experiments are conducted with IEEE 14-bus and IEEE 118-bus system data,and the results demonstrate that the generated attack samples of the proposed model can present superior performance compared to state-of-the-art models in terms of attack strength,robustness,and covert capability.

Wide frequency phonons manipulation in Si nanowire by introducing nanopillars and nanoparticles

The combination of different nanostructures can hinder phonons transmission in a wide frequency range and further reduce the thermal conductivity(TC).This will benefit the improvement and application of thermoelectric conversion,insulating materials and thermal barrier coatings,*** this work,the effects of nanopillars and Ge nanoparticles(GNPs)on the thermal transport of Si nanowire(SN)are investigated by nonequilibrium molecular dynamics(NEMD)*** analyzing phonons transport behaviors,it is confirmed that the introduction of nanopillars leads to the occurrence of lowfrequency phonons resonance,and nanoparticles enhance high-frequency phonons interface scattering and *** results show that phonons transport in the whole frequency range can be strongly hindered by the simultaneous introduction of nanopillars and *** addition,the effects of system length,temperature,sizes and numbers of nanoparticles on the TC are *** work provides useful insights into the effective regulation of the TC of nanomaterials.

Effects of dimethyl ether and ethanol additions on soot transition in ethylene counterflow diffusion flames

This paper investigates the effect of blending dimethyl ether(DME)and ethanol on the soot transition periods in ethylene counterflow diffusion flames by using a novel optical diagnostic *** soot critical transition point in different conditions is identified experimentally and *** kinds of flames are carried out to gain the soot critical transition point in counterflow diffusion flames by changing oxygen fraction(Xo)and changing volume flow rates of fuel and oxidizer(Qv).The red-green-blue(RGB)ratio method is used to precisely identify the soot critical transition point,and chemical kinetic simulations are performed to analyze the detailed reaction *** results show that compared to the ethylene flame,the soot critical transition point occurs at a higher Xoand a lower Qvwhen DME or ethanol is *** addition of DME and ethanol can inhibit soot formation,due to the degree of soot formation reaction being lower than the degree of the oxidation reaction in the blending flames.

High-precision parallel computing model of solute transport based on GPU acceleration

The scenario simulation analysis of water environmental emergencies is very important for risk prevention and control,and emergency *** quickly and accurately simulate the transport and diffusion process of high-intensity pollutants during sudden environmental water pollution events,in this study,a high-precision pollution transport and diffusion model for unstructured grids based on Compute Unified Device Architecture(CUDA)is *** finite volume method of a total variation diminishing limiter with the Kong proposed r-factor is used to reduce numerical diffusion and oscillation errors in the simulation of pollutants under sharp concentration conditions,and graphics processing unit acceleration technology is used to improve computational *** advection diffusion process of the model is verified numerically using two benchmark cases,and the efficiency of the model is evaluated using an engineering *** results demonstrate that the model perform well in the simulation of material transport in the presence of sharp ***,it has high computational *** acceleration ratio is 46 times the single-thread acceleration effect of the original *** efficiency of the accelerated model meet the requirements of an engineering application,and the rapid early warning and assessment of water pollution accidents is achieved.

Does the Hartman effect exist in triangular barriers

We study the phase,Larmor and dwell times of a particle scattered off triangular barriers(TBs).It is interesting that the dependences of dwell,reflective phase and Larmor times on the wave number,barrier width and height for a pair of mirror-symmetric(MS)exact triangular barriers(ETBs)are quite different,as the two ETBs have quite distinct scattering *** comparison,the dependence of the transmitted phase or Larmor times is exactly the same,since the transmitted amplitudes are the same for a pair of MS *** further study the Hartman effect by defining the phase and Larmor velocities associated with the phase and Larmor *** find no barrier width saturation effect for the transmitted and reflected *** is indicated by the fact that all the velocities approach finite constants that are much smaller than the speed of light in vacuum for TBs with positive-slope impact *** for ETBs with vertical left edges,the naive velocities seem to also indicate the absence of the Hartman *** are quite distinct from rectangular barriers and may shed new light on the clarification of the tunneling time issues.

Sensitivity analysis of modeling parameters to soot and PAHs prediction in ethylene inverse diffusion flame

The soot formation model based on inverse ethylene diffusion flames was performed to study the sensitivity of the soot formation process to the prediction *** effects of efficiency parameters such as soot inception,surface growth and coagulation on the simulation results were studied by using the adjustable efficiency *** addition,the reversible soot model and conjugate heat transfer(CHT)model were also introduced to explore their *** indicated that,among adjustable efficiency parameters,the nucleation efficiency had the greatest influence on the predicted soot and PAHs distributions,while the Habstraction-C2H2-addition(HACA)process and PAH adsorption surface growth efficiencies impacted *** adjustable efficiency parameters had a significant effect on the concentration of soot gaseous precursors and soot particles,but their effects on temperature,gas phase molecules,and intermediate species were not *** the nucleation efficiency increased from 2×10^(-6)to 1×10^(-4),the predicted value of the integrated soot was increased by nearly 50%,and the maximum primary particle number density and the number of aggregates were increased by an order of *** maximum concentration of BAPYR was ***,the peak temperature along the axial direction increased by only 3.5 *** the reversible soot model,the approximation results of the adjustable efficiency parameters could be modified,which showed the feasibility of the *** use of the CHT model promoted pyrolysis of the fuel below the outlet of the fuel tube,with high-temperature zones,soot zones,and PAHs zones moving towards higher flame ***,when using the reversible model and the CHT model,the maximum soot volume fraction decreased by 39%compared with the basic efficiency parameters,while the concentration of BAPYR increased by 162%,and the concentrations of gas phase species were decreased.
