The creation of new soybean varieties has been limited by genomic duplication and *** multiplex gene editing and large chromosomal segment deletion through clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein(Cas)systems are promising strategies for overcoming these ***/Cpf1 is a robust tool for multiplex gene ***,large chromosomal excision mediated by CRISPR/Cpf1 has been reported in only a few non-plant ***,we report on CRISPR/LbCpf1-induced large chromosomal segment deletions in soybean using multiplex gene *** CRISPR/LbCpf1 system was optimized for direct repeat and guide RNA lengths in crispr RNA(crRNA)*** editing efficiency was evaluated using LbCpf1 driven by the CaMV35S and soybean ubiquitin *** optimized system exhibited editing efficiencies of up to 91.7%.Our results showed eight gene targets could be edited simultaneously in one step when a single eight-gRNA-target crRNA array was employed,with an efficiency of up to 17.1%.We successfully employed CRISPR/LbCpf1 to produce small fragments(power of the CRISPR/LbCpf1 platform for multiplex gene editing and chromosomal segment deletion in soybean,supporting the use of this technology in both basic research and agricultural applications.

A detailed thermal power plant model was developed to evaluate power plant waste heat usage in terms of the operating parameters,energy consumption,water consumption,and pollutant *** model was used to analyze the bypass flue gas energy cascade utilization design which provides excellent energy savings and emission *** paper then presents a design to use the low-temperature waste heat and to extract water from the flue *** low-grade heat can be recovered from a coal-fired unit using absorption heat pumps to increase the air *** method significantly reduces the turbine steam extraction in the low pressure stages which increases the turbine power and reduces the coal *** design has a small heat transfer temperature difference between the air preheater and the air warmer,resulting in a smaller exergy *** power output of the present design was 1024.28 MW with a coal consumption savings of 3.69 g·(kWh)^(−1).In addition,the present design extracts moisture out of the flue gas to produce 46.48 t·h^(−1)of *** main goal of this work is to provide a theoretical analysis for studying complex thermal power plant systems and various energy conservation and CO_(2)reduction options for conventional power plants.

Engineering industrial fatty acids in oilseeds

More than 300 types of modified fatty acids （mFA） are produced in triacylglycerols （TAG） by various plant species, with many of these unusual structures rendering unique physical and chemical properties that are desirable for a variety of bio-based industrial uses. Attempts to produce these mFA in crop species have thus far failed to reach the desired levels of production and highlighted the need to better understand how fatty acids are synthesized and accumulated in seed oils. In this review we discuss how some of the progress made in recent years, such as the improved TAG synthesis model to include acyl editing and new enzymes such as PDCT, may be utilized to achieve the goal of effectively modifying plant oils for industrial uses. Co-expressing several key enzymes may circumvent the bottlenecks for the accumulation of mFA in TAG through efficient removal of mFA from phosphatidylchofine. Other approaches include the prevention of feedback inhibition of fatty acid synthesis and improving primary enzyme activity in host transgenic plants. In addition, genomic approaches are providing unprecedented power to discover more factors that may facilitate engineering mFA in oilseeds. Based on the results of the last 20 years, creating a high mFA accumulating plant will not be done by simply inserting one or two genes; it is necessary to stack genes encoding enzymes with favorable kinetic activity or specificity along with additional complementary transgenes in optimized plant backgrounds to produce industrial fatty acids at desirable levels. Finally, we discuss the potential of Camelina as an industrial oilseed platform.

The phytohormone auxin is essential for plant development and contributes to nearly every aspect of the plant life cycle. The spatio-temporal distribution of auxin depends on a complex interplay between auxin metabolism and cell-to-cell auxin transport. Auxin metabolism and transport are both crucial for plant development; however, it largely remains to be seen how these processes are integrated to ensure defined cellular auxin levels or even gradients within tissues or organs. In this review, we provide a glance at very diverse topics of auxin biology, such as biosynthesis, conjugation, oxidation, and transport of auxin. This broad, but certainly superficial, overview highlights the mutual importance of auxin metabolism and transport. Moreover, it allows pinpointing how auxin metabolism and transport get integrated to jointly regulate cellular auxin homeostasis. Even though these processes have been so far only separately studied, we assume that the phytohormonal crosstalk integrates and coordinates auxin metabolism and transport. Besides the integrative power of the global hormone signaling, we additionally introduce the hypothetical concept considering auxin transport components as gatekeepers for auxin responses.

Molecular dynamics simulation of Ni_3Al melting

With the Voter-Chen version of embedded-atom model （EAM） potential and molecular dynamics, the melting of Ni3Al alloy was simulated by one-phase （conventional） and two-phase approaches. It is shown that the simulated melting point is dependent on the potential and the simulation method. The structures of the melts obtained by different simulation methods were analyzed by the pair correlation function, the coordination number, and the distribution of atom pair type （indexed by the Honeycutt-Andersen pair analysis technique）. The results show that the structures are very similar.

Fuzzy linear model for production optimization of mining systems with multiple entities

Planning and production optimization within multiple mines or several work sites （entities） mining systems by using fuzzy linear programming （LP） was studied. LP is the most commonly used operations research methods in mining engineering. After the introductory review of properties and limitations of applying LP, short reviews of the general settings of deterministic and fuzzy LP models are presented. With the purpose of comparative analysis, the application of both LP models is presented using the example of the Bauxite Basin Niksic with five mines. After the assessment, LP is an efficient mathematical modeling tool in production planning and solving many other single-criteria optimization problems of mining engineering. After the comparison of advantages and deficiencies of both deterministic and fuzzy LP models, the conclusion presents benefits of the fuzzy LP model but is also stating that seeking the optimal plan of production means to accomplish the overall analysis that will encompass the LP model approaches.

As an aggregator of distributed energy resources(DERs) such as distributed generator, energy storage, and load,the virtual power plant(VPP) enables these small DERs participating in system operation. One of the critical issues is how to aggregate DERs to form VPPs appropriately. To improve the controllability and reduce the operation cost of VPP, the complementary DERs with close electrical distances should be aggregated in the same VPP. In this paper, it is formulated as an optimal network partition model for minimizing the voltage deviation inside VPPs and the fluctuation of injection power at the point of common coupling(PCC). A new convex formulation of network reconfiguration strategy is incorporated in this approach which can guarantee the components of the same VPP connected and further improve the performance of *** proposed approach is cast as an instance of mixed-integer linear programming(MILP) and can be effectively ***, a scenario reduction method is developed to reduce the computation burden based on the k-shape algorithm. Numerical tests on the 13-bus and 70-bus distribution networks justify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
