Controlling the dynamic behavior of decentralized cluster through centralized approaches

How to control the dynamic behavior of large-scale artificial active matter is a critical concern in experimental research on soft matter, particularly regarding the emergence of collective behaviors and the formation of group patterns. Centralized systems excel in precise control over individual behavior within a group, ensuring high accuracy and controllability in task execution. Nevertheless, their sensitivity to group size may limit their adaptability to diverse tasks. In contrast, decentralized systems empower individuals with autonomous decision-making, enhancing adaptability and system robustness. Yet, this flexibility comes at the cost of reduced accuracy and efficiency in task execution. In this work, we present a unique method for regulating the centralized dynamic behavior of self-organizing clusters based on environmental interactions. Within this environment-coupled robot system, each robot possesses similar dynamic characteristics, and their internal programs are entirely identical. However, their behaviors can be guided by the centralized control of the environment, facilitating the accomplishment of diverse cluster tasks. This approach aims to balance the accuracy and flexibility of centralized control with the robustness and task adaptability of decentralized control. The proactive regulation of dynamic behavioral characteristics in active matter groups, demonstrated in this work through environmental interactions, holds the potential to introduce a novel technological approach and provide experimental references for studying the dynamic behavior control of large-scale artificial active matter systems.

Disorder-to-order transition induced by spontaneous cooling regulation in robotic active matter

In classical matter systems, typical phase-transition phenomena usually stem from changes in state variables, such as temperature and pressure, induced by external regulations such as heat transfer and volume adjustment. However, in active matter systems, the self-propulsion nature of active particles endows the systems with the ability to induce unique collectivestate transitions by spontaneously regulating individual properties to alter the overall states. Based on an innovative robot-swarm experimental system, we demonstrate a field-driven active matter model capable of modulating individual motion behaviors through interaction with a recoverable environmental resource field by the resource perception and *** the simulated model, by gradually reducing the individual resource-conversion coefficient over time, this robotic active matter can spontaneously decrease the overall level of motion, thereby actively achieving a regulation behavior like the cooling-down control. Through simulation calculations, we discover that the spatial structures of this robotic active matter convert from disorder to order during this process, with the resulting ordered structures exhibiting a high self-adaptability on the geometry of the environmental boundaries.

Flocking Effects of the Stochastic Cucker-Smale System with Noise

In this paper, the flocking behavior of a Cucker-Smale model with a leader and noise is studied in a finite time. The authors present a Cucker-Smale system with two nonlinear controls for a complex network with stochastic synchronization in probability. Based on the finite-time stability theory of stochastic differential equations, the sufficient conditions for the flocking of stochastic systems in a finite time are obtained by using the Lyapunov function method. Finally, the numerical simulation of the particle system is carried out for the leader and noise, and the correctness of the results is verified.

The great catastrophe: causes of the Permo-Triassic marine mass extinction

The marine losses during the Permo-Triassic mass extinction were the worst ever experienced. All groups were badly affected, especially amongst the benthos(e.g. brachiopods, corals, bryozoans, foraminifers,ostracods). Planktonic populations underwent a fundamental change with eukaryotic algae being replaced by nitrogen-fixing bacteria, green-sulphur bacteria, sulphate-reducing bacteria and prasinophytes. Detailed studies of boundary sections, especially those in South China, have resolved the crisis to a ～55 kyr interval straddling the Permo-Triassic boundary. Many of the losses occur at the beginning and end of this interval painting a picture of a two-phase extinction. Improved knowledge of the extinction has been supported by numerous geochemical studies that allow diverse proposed extinction mechanisms to be studied. A transition from oxygenated to anoxic-euxinic conditions is seen in most sections globally, although the intensity and timing shows regional variability. Decreased ocean ventilation coincides with rapidly rising temperatures and many extinction scenarios attribute the losses to both anoxia and high *** kill mechanisms include ocean acidification for which there is conflicting support from geochemical proxies and, even less likely, siltation(burial under a massive influx of terrigenous sediment) which lacks substantive sedimentological evidence. The ultimate driver of the catastrophic changes at the end of the Permian was likely Siberian Trap eruptions and their associated carbon dioxide emissions with consequences such as warming, ocean stagnation and acidification. Number of Solitons Emerged in the Initial Profile of Shallow Water Using Convolutional Neural Networks

The soliton resolution conjecture proposes that the initial value problem can evolve into a dispersion part and a soliton ***,the problem of determining the number of solitons that form in a given initial profile remains unsolved,except for a few specific *** this paper,the authors use the deep learning method to predict the number of solitons in a given initial value of the Korteweg-de Vries(KdV)*** leveraging the analytical relationship between Asech^(2)(x)initial values and the number of solitons,the authors train a Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)that can accurately identify the soliton count from spatio-temporal *** trained neural network is capable of predicting the number of solitons with other given initial values without any additional *** extensive calculations,the authors demonstrate the effectiveness and high performance of the proposed method.

Existence of Global Solutions to the Nonlocal mKdV Equation on the Line

In this paper, the authors address the existence of global solutions to the Cauchy problem for the integrable nonlocal modified Korteweg-de Vries（nonlocal mKdV for short） equation under the initial data u0 ∈ H3（R） ∩H1,1（R） with the L1（R） small-norm assumption. A Lipschitz L2-bijection map between potential and reflection coefficient is established by using inverse scattering method based on a Riemann-Hilbert problem associated with the Cauchy problem. The map from initial potential to reflection coefficient is obtained in direct scattering transform. The inverse scattering transform goes back to the map from scattering coefficient to potential by applying the reconstruction formula and Cauchy integral operator. The bijective relation naturally yields the existence of global solutions in a Sobolev space H3（R） ∩ H1,1（R） to the Cauchy problem.

Experimental and Numerical Investigation on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of High-Speed Pantographs with Supporting Beam Wind Deflectors

Aiming to mitigate the aerodynamic lift force imbalance between pantograph strips,which exacerbates wear and affects the current collection performance of the pantograph-catenary system,a study has been conducted to support the beam deflector optimization using a combination of experimental measurements and computational fluid dynamics(CFD)*** results demonstrate that the size,position,and installation orientation of the wind deflectors significantly influence the amount of force *** also indicate that the front strip deflectors should be installed downwards and the rear strip deflectors upwards,thereby forming a“π”***,the lift force compensation provided by the wind deflectors increases with the size of the *** wind compensation strategies,such as control circuits,are also discussed,putting emphasis on the pros and cons of various pantograph types and wind compensation approaches.

NeuroPrim:An attention-based model for solving NP-hard spanning tree problems

Spanning tree problems with specialized constraints can be difficult to solve in real-world scenarios,often requiring intricate algorithmic design and exponential ***,there has been growing interest in end-to-end deep neural networks for solving routing ***,such methods typically produce sequences of vertices,which make it difficult to apply them to general combinatorial optimization problems where the solution set consists of edges,as in various spanning tree *** this paper,we propose NeuroPrim,a novel framework for solving various spanning tree problems by defining a Markov decision process for general combinatorial optimization problems on *** approach reduces the action and state space using Prim's algorithm and trains the resulting model using *** apply our framework to three difficult problems on the Euclidean space:the degree-constrained minimum spanning tree problem,the minimum routing cost spanning tree problem and the Steiner tree problem in *** results on literature instances demonstrate that our model outperforms strong heuristics and achieves small optimality gaps of up to 250 ***,we find that our model has strong generalization ability with no significant degradation observed on problem instances as large as 1,*** results suggest that our framework can be effective for solving a wide range of combinatorial optimization problems beyond spanning tree problems.

Optimal pivot path of the simplex method for linear programming based on reinforcement learning

Based on the existing pivot rules,the simplex method for linear programming is not polynomial in the worst ***,the optimal pivot of the simplex method is *** this paper,we propose the optimal rule to find all the shortest pivot paths of the simplex method for linear programming problems based on Monte Carlo tree ***,we first propose the SimplexPseudoTree to transfer the simplex method into tree search mode while avoiding repeated basis ***,we propose four reinforcement learning models with two actions and two rewards to make the Monte Carlo tree search suitable for the simplex ***,we set a new action selection criterion to ameliorate the inaccurate evaluation in the initial *** is proved that when the number of vertices in the feasible region is C_(n)^(m),our method can generate all the shortest pivot paths,which is the polynomial of the number of *** addition,we experimentally validate that the proposed schedule can avoid unnecessary search and provide the optimal pivot ***,this method can provide the best pivot labels for all kinds of supervised learning methods to solve linear programming problems.
