BACKGROUND: The aim of the study is to evaluate the theoretical knowledge and psychomotor skill acquisition of basic life support(BLS) by a group of secondary school students in Nigeria pre and post BLS training. METHODS: This was quasi-experimental study design with 210 participants. They were taught on adult BLS and all the participants practiced BLS on a Resusci-Anne manikin immediately after the training. Data were collected using American Heart Association(AHA) structured questionnaire and psychomotor skills checklist for BLS at baseline, and post BLS ***: The pre-training knowledge score was 1.9±1.4. This increased after the BLS training to 11.4±2.4, and the mean difference between the pre and post BLS training scores was 9.48571. Pre-training psychomotor skill score was 0.00±0.00, this increased to 8.9±1.9 after the training, and the mean difference was 8.90000. The knowledge and psychomotor skill difference between pre and post BLS training was signifi cant(P<0.000).CONCLUSION: Most Nigerian secondary school students were not knowledgeable about BLS. Therefore, there is need for the creation of more awareness among the students.

Marine ecosystems provide a wide variety of diverse habitats that frequently promote migration and ecological *** extent to which the geographic distribution of marine organism has reshaped by human activities remains *** limitations intrinsic to morphology-based identification systems have engendered an urgent need for reliable genetic methods that enable the unequivocal recognition of fish species,particularly those that are prone to overexploitation and/or market *** the present study,however,an attempt has been taken to identify two locally adapted fish species,Siganus sutor(Valenciennes,1835)and Seriolina nigrofasciata(Rüppell,1829)of order Perciformes,which happens to be the first record in Odisha coast,Bay of *** diagnostic characteristics of Siganus sutor are:dorsal fin XIII-10,anal fin VII-9,pectoral fin 15,pelvic fin II-3,while that of Seriolina nigrofasciata dorsal fin VI-I-35,anal fin I-17,pectoral fin 16,pelvic fin *** COI barcodes generated in this study were matched with reference sequences of expected species,according to morphological *** and likelihood phylogenetic trees were drawn based on DNA barcodes and all the specimens clustered in agreement with their taxonomic classification at the species *** phylogeographic studies based on haplotype network and migration rates suggest that both the species were not panmitic and the high-frequency population distribution indicates successful *** result of this study provides an important validation of the use of DNA barcode sequences for monitoring species diversity and changes within a complex marine ecosystem.

The expression“patient revolution”is the social,educational,cultural,and political movement initiated at the end of the twentieth century and beginning of the twenty-first century,which sustains the protagonism of the patients in their care as the primary decision maker and holder of human *** patient revolution comprises varied approaches and references,such as Patient-Centered Care,Shared Decision-Making,Patient Participation,and Patients’Rights,which combine to uphold that the patient is a moral agent and anchor healthcare in the biopsychosocial *** this sense,this movement is a new proposal of ethics for clinical *** theoretical research primary goal is to develop theoretical contributions that support this new Bioethics dimension,emphasizing the context in healthcare that calls for new ethics in clinical practice,characterized as a patient revolution *** concluded that the patient revolution had driven a new paradigm in healthcare based on Patient-Centricity,SDM,and Patients’*** this critical change in the health sphere,the patient revolution appears to have reverberated in clinical ***,theoretical contributions must be developed for new ethics in the clinic,a task undertaken in this article through the proposal of Healthcare Bioethics as an adequate frame of reference to be adopted at all levels of clinical ***,it is concluded that having Bioethics Healthcare as a beacon of ethics in clinical encounters can contribute to the quality of care and its ethical provision,confronting practices that violate Patients’*** is imperative to change paternalistic theoretical frameworks that mitigate the Patients’Right to participate in every decision regarding their *** with the adoption of new approaches and an insight into the patient’s role in clinical interaction can a new culture in Patient-Centered healthcare take shape.

Background The internet is an integral part of everyone’s *** going adolescents are highly vulnerable to the misuse of the *** To estimate the pooled prevalence of internet addiction(IA)among college students in *** Literature databases(PubMed,Web of Science,Scopus,EMBASE,PsycINFO and Google Scholar)were searched for studies assessing IA using the Young Internet Addiction Test(Y-IAT)among adolescents from India,published in the English language up to December *** included studies from 2010 to 2020 as this is the marked era of momentum in wireless internet connectivity in *** methodological quality of each study was scored,and data were extracted from the published *** prevalence was estimated using the fixed-effects *** bias was evaluated using Egger’s test and visual inspection of the symmetry in funnel *** Fifty studies conducted in 19 states of India estimated the prevalence of IA and the overall prevalence of IA as 19.9%(95%CI:19.3%to 20.5%)and 40.7%(95%CI:38.7%to 42.8%)based on the Y-IAT cut-off scores of 50 and 40,*** estimated prevalence of severe IA was significantly higher in the Y-IAT cut-off points of 70 than 80(12.7%(95%CI:11.2%to 14.3%)vs 4.6%(95%CI:4.1%to 5.2%)).The sampling method and quality of included studies had a significant effect on the estimation of prevalence in which studies using non-probability sampling and low risk of bias(total quality score≥7)reported lower *** overall quality of evidence was rated as‘moderate’based on the Grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development and Evaluation *** Our nationally representative data suggest that about 20%to 40%of college students in India are at risk for *** is a need for further research in the reconsideration of Y-IAT cut-off points among Indian college students.

Objectives:The objectives of this study were to assess the knowledge and practice skills on home-based urinary catheter care among parents of under-five children with urinary *** and Methods:This cross-sectional study was conducted from June 1,2021,to September 11,2021,in a tertiary hospital in north *** sampling was used to select 50 *** instruments were employed for data collection after fulfilling sample criteria;for baseline information demographic tool,knowledge questionnaires,and a practice *** were analyzed using descriptive and inferential ***:On assessment of 50 participants,the majority of parents aged above 30 years(74%).Most of the participants were male(82%),graduated(38%),and working in the private sector(58%).Similarly,two-thirds of participants were residing in a nuclear family(64%)with a single child 32(64%)and family income<5000 rupees per month(60%).The mean score of knowledge was 1.94±0.81 and that of practice skills was 1.98±0.85 on home-based *** analysis showed that knowledge of parents was significantly associated with qualification(β:1.821,P=0.002).Similarly,association of practice skills of parents with gender(β:1.235,P=0.050)and qualification(β:1.889,P=0.00)was ***:The general findings of our study showed that parents’education and occupation played a significant role in a child’s *** education and catheter care skills positively affect the child and reduce readmission rates.

AIM： To investigate the effects of mangiferin on gas- trointestinal transit （GIT） in normal and constipated mice, together with the possible ***： Intragastrically-administered charcoal mealwas used to measure GIT in overnight starved Swiss mice. In the first experiments, mangiferin （3 mg/kg, 10 mg/kg, 30 mg/kg, and 100 mg/kg, po） or tegaserod （1 mg/kg, ip） were administered 30 min before the char- coal meal to study their effects on normal transit. In the second series, mangiferin （30 mg/kg） was tested on delayed GIT induced by several different pharma- cological agonists （morphine, clonidine, capsaicin） or antagonists （ondansetron, verapamil, and atropine） whereas in the third series, mangiferin （30 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg and 300 mg/kg） or tegaserod （1 mg/kg） were tested on 6 h fecal pellets outputted by freely fed mice. The ratio of wet to dry weight was calculated and used as a marker of fecal water content. RESULTS： Mangiferin administered orally significantly （P 〈 0.05） accelerated GIT at 30 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg （89% and 93%, respectively）, similarly to 5-hydroxytrypta- mine4 （5-H%） agonist tegaserod （81%） when compared to vehicle-treated control （63%）. Co-administered man- giferin （30 mg/kg） totally reversed the inhibitory effect of opioid agonist morphine, 5-HT3-receptor antagonist ondansetron and transient receptor potential vanilloid-1 receptor agonist capsaicin on GIT, but only to a partial extent with the GIT-delay induced by ~2-adrenoceptor agonist clonidine, and calcium antagonist verapamil. However, co-administered atropine completely blocked the stimulant effect of mangiferin on GIT, suggesting the involvement of muscarinic acetylcholine receptor activation. Although mangiferin significantly enhanced the 6 h fecal output at higher doses （245.5±10.43 mg vs 161.9±10.82 mg and 227.1±20.11 mg vs 161.9±10.82 mg of vehicle-treated control, at 30 and 100 mg/ kg, P 〈 0.05, respectively）, the effect of tegaserod was more potent （297.4±7.42 mg vs 161.9±1

Factors Associated with Secondary Traumatic Stress among Emergency Nurses: An Integrative Review

Background: Emergency nurses are exposed to traumatized patients as part of their job. Secondary exposure to trauma may lead to traumatic stress similar to those experienced by the primary victim. Emergency nurses develop secondary traumatic stress symptoms more than other nurses due to nature of emergency departments. The consequences of secondary traumatic stress can be noticed at personal, interpersonal, or organizational level. Objectives: This integrative review aimed to explore the literature on the factors attenuate or enhance occurrence of secondary traumatic stress among emergency nurses, to identify these factors, and to provide recommendations for research in the field. Method: An integrative literature review of quantitative and qualitative studies on secondary traumatic stress in emergency nurses were published in English language between 2000 and 2017 through the following data bases: Cumulative Index to nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), ProQuest, Medline, PubMed, Google Scholar, SAGE Journals, Wiley on Line Library, Science Direct and EBSCOhost Sources. Results: The review identified that factors associated with secondary traumatic stress can be classified into personal and organizational factors. Findings on personal factors such as age, gender, and experience are controversial, whereas organizational factors such as trauma case load and perceived organizational support were found to predict traumatic stress more than the personal factors. Conclusions: Emergency nurses are at risk to develop traumatic stress and need to be aware to the contributing factors in order to maintain their well being. Further research is required to explore the factors enhance or attenuate occurrence of secondary traumatic stress.
