Introduction:The study was conducted in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve,in the Western Ghats to understand the effect of a single fire event on tree diversity and regeneration *** forest patches were selected which were unburned,2-year-old burn,5-year-old burn,and 15-year-old *** 0.1 ha square plots were laid randomly in all four patches and analyzed for tree diversity,stand structure,and regeneration of tree ***:A total of 4129 individuals of tree species were recorded in field surveys,comprising 3474 seedlings,121 saplings,and 534 ***,40 tree species were recorded in study plots,from which 28 species were seedlings,16 species were saplings,and 37 species were at tree ***:Tree diversity decreased in 2-year-old and 5-year-old burnt plots and was reached to the level of unburnt plots in 15 years of *** of small size classes started increasing after the *** density increased linearly in subsequent years after fire but sapling and tree density recorded less than control in B2 but was higher in B5 and *** overall fire affected diversity,but regeneration showed a positive trend.

The VRP is classified as an NP-hard problem. Hence exact optimization methods may be difficult to solve these problems in acceptable CPU times, when the problem involves real-world data sets that are very large. To get solutions in determining routes which are realistic and very close to the actual solution, we use heuristics and metaheuristics which are of the combinatorial optimization type. A literature review of VRPTW, TDVRP, and a metaheuristic such as the genetic algorithm was conducted. In this paper, the implementation of the VRPTW and its extension, the time-dependent VRPTW (TDVRPTW) has been carried out using the model as well as metaheuristics such as the genetic algorithm (GA). The algorithms were implemented, using Matlab and HeuristicLab optimization software. A plugin was developed using Visual C# and DOT NET framework 4.5. Results were tested using Solomon’s 56 benchmark instances classified into groups such as C1, C2, R1, R2, RC1, RC2, with 100 customer nodes, 25 vehicles and each vehicle capacity of 200. The results were comparable to the earlier algorithms developed and in some cases the current algorithm yielded better results in terms of total distance travelled and the average number of vehicles used.

Fe-doped ZnO (Zn0.99Fe0.01O) powders are successfully prepared by ball milling with different milling time, and are inves- tigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. The structural analysis using XRD reveals that the Fe-doped ZnO milled at different milling time can crystallize in a wurtzite structure, and in the XRD patterns, the secondary phase related to Fe cluster with the sensitivity of the XRD instrument can not be found. The SEM image of the sample milled for 24 h shows the presence of spherical nanoparticles. From the optical analysis, the optical band gap is found to decrease with increasing the milling time, which indicates the incorporation of Fe2+ ions into the ZnO lattice. The magnetization measurement using VSM reveals that the nanoparticles exhibit ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature, and the magnetization increases gradually with increasing the milling time. The conclusion is further confirmed by the electron paramagnetic resonance of the nanoparticles examined at room temperature, which shows an intense and broad ferromagnetic resonance signal related to Fe ions.

Impact of patch size on woody tree species richness and abundance in a tropical montane evergreen forest patches of south India

We examined the effects of forest patch size on woody tree species richness and abundance in tropical montane evergreen forest patches of the Nilgiri region,south India. We sampled woody trees(>1 cm dbh) from 21 forest patches in the upper Nilgiri hills(> 2000 m elevation) and recorded a total of 35,146 individuals of 61 species, 45 genera and 30 families. Species richness and abundance of sapling/shrubs(≥ 1 to < 10 cm dbh)increased significantly with increasing patch size, but the species richness and abundance of small, medium and larger trees(≥ 10 to < 30, ≥ 30 to < 60 and ≥ 60 cm dbh,respectively) did not. Overall, forest interior species richness and abundance increased significantly with increasing patch size but edge species richness did not. Species richness and abundance of shade-tolerant and shade-demanding tree species also increased with increasing patch size. The abundance of zoochory dispersed tree species was significantly related to increasing patch size, but those dispersed by autochory did not display any clear relationship between patch size and species richness or *** findings suggest that with increasing forest patch area,tree compositional patterns may be driven by species specific shade-tolerance adaptations and dispersal *** responses in these traits by the plant community within the individual habitat zones of forest edge and interiors likely plays a major role in determining the inherent plant community and thus the subsequent ecological processes of forest patches, including their responses to increasing patch area.

With the speeding up of social activities,rapid changes in lifestyles,and an increase in the pressure in professional fields,people are suffering from several types of sleep-related *** is a very tedious task for clinicians to monitor the entire sleep durations of the subjects and analyse the sleep staging in traditional and manual laboratory environmental *** the purpose of accurate diagnosis of different sleep disorders,we have considered the automated analysis of sleep epochs,which were collected from the subjects during sleep *** complete process of an automated approach of sleep stages5 classification is majorly executed through four steps:pre-processing the raw signals,feature extraction,feature selection,and *** this study,we have extracted 12 statistical properties from input *** proposed models are tested in three different combinations of features *** the first experiment,the feature set contained all the 12 *** second and third experiments were conducted with the nine and five best *** patient records come from the ISRUC-Sleep *** highest classification accuracy was achieved for sleep staging through combinations with the five feature *** the categories of the subjects,the reported accuracy results were found to exceed above 90%.As per the outcome from the proposed system the random forest classification techniques achieved best accuracy incomparable to that of the other two classifiers.

This research considers the time-dependent vehicle routing problem (TDVRP). The time-dependent VRP does not assume constant speeds of the vehicles. The speeds of the vehicles vary during the various times of the day, based on the traffic conditions. During the periods of peak traffic hours, the vehicles travel at low speeds and during non-peak hours, the vehicles travel at higher speeds. A survey by TCI and IIM-C (2014) found that stoppage delay as percentage of journey time varied between five percent and 25 percent, and was very much dependent on the characteristics of routes. Costs of delay were also estimated and found not to affect margins by significant amounts. This study aims to overcome such problems arising out of traffic congestions that lead to unnecessary delays and hence, loss in customers and thereby valuable revenues to a company. This study suggests alternative routes to minimize travel times and travel distance, assuming a congestion in traffic situation. In this study, an efficient GA-based algorithm has been developed for the TDVRP, to minimize the total distance travelled, minimize the total number of vehicles utilized and also suggest alternative routes for congestion avoidance. This study will help to overcome and minimize the negative effects due to heavy traffic congestions and delays in customer service. The proposed algorithm has been shown to be superior to another existing algorithm in terms of the total distance travelled and also the number of vehicles utilized. Also the performance of the proposed algorithm is as good as the mathematical model for small size problems.

The Dergaon fall represents a shock-melted H4-5 （S5） ordinary chondrite which includes at least ten textural varieties of chondrules and belongs to the high chondrule-matrix ratio type. Our study reveals that the chondrules are of diverse mineralogy with variable olivine-pyroxene ratios （Type Ⅱ）, igneous melt textures developed under variable cooling rates and formed through melt fractionations from two different melt reservoirs. Based on the experimental analogues, mineralogical associations and phase compositions, it is suggested that the Dergaon chondrules reflect two contrasting environments： a hot, dust-enriched and highly oxidized nebular environment through melting, without significant evapora- tion, and an arrested reducing environment concomitant with major evaporation loss of alkali and highly volatile trace elements. Coexistence of chlorapatite and merrillite suggests formation of the Dergaon matrix in an acidic accretionary environment. Textural integration and chemical homogenization occurred at - I atmospheric pressure and a mean temperature of 765 ℃ mark the radiogenic thermal event. Equilibrated shock features （olivine mosaicism, diaplectic plagioclase, polycrystalline troilite） due to an impact-induced thermal event reflect a shock pressure 〉45 GPa and temperature of 600 ℃. By contrast, the local disequilibrium shock features （silicate melt veins comprising of olivine crystallites, troilite melt veins and metal droplets） correspond to a shock pressure up to 75 GPa and temperature 〉950 ℃.

Male reproductive health has deteriorated considerably in the last few decades. Nutritional, socioeconomic, lifestyle and environmental factors （among others） have been attributed to compromising male reproductive health. In recent years, a large volume of evidence has accumulated that suggests that the trend of decreasing male fertility （in terms of sperm count, quality and other changes in male reproductive health） might be due to exposure to environmental toxicants. These environmental contaminants can mimic natural oestrogens and target testicular spermatogenesis, steroidogenesis, and the function of both Sertoli and Leydig cells. Most environmental toxicants have been shown to induce reactive oxygen species, thereby causing a state of oxidative stress in various compartments of the testes. However, the molecular mechanism（s） of action of the environmental toxicants on the testis have yet to be elucidated. This review discusses the effects of some of the more commonly used environmental contaminants on testicular function through the induction of oxidative stress and apoptosis.
