This paper presents the development and experimental utilization of a synchronized off-harmonic laser system designed as a probe for ultra-intense laser±plasma interaction experiments. The system exhibits a novel seed-generation design,allowing for a variable pulse duration spanning over more than three orders of magnitude, from 3.45 picoseconds to 10 nanoseconds. This makes it suitable for various plasma diagnostics and visualization techniques. In a side-view configuration, the laser was employed for interferometry and streaked shadowgraphy of a laser-induced plasma while successfully suppressing the self-emission background of the laser±plasma interaction, resulting in a signal-to-self-emission ratio of 110 for this setup. These properties enable the probe to yield valuable insights into the plasma dynamics and interactions at the PHELIX facility and to be deployed at various laser facilities due to its easy-to-implement design.

background:Adenosine triphosphatase inhibitory factor 1(IF1)is a key protein involved in energy metabolism.IF1 has been linked to various agerelated diseases,although its relationship with physical activity(PA)remains unclear.Additionally,the apolipoprotein A-I(apoA-I),a PA-modulated lipoprotein,could play a role in this relationship because it shares a binding site with IF1 on the cell-surface ATP synthase.We examined here the associations between chronic PA and plasma IF1 concentrations among older adults,and we investigated whether apoA-I mediated these associations.Methods:In the present work,1096 healthy adults(63.8%females)aged 70 years and over who were involved in the Multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial study were included.IF1 plasma concentrations(square root of ng/mL)were measured at the 1-year visit of the Multidomain Alzheimer Prevention Trial,while PA levels(square root of metabolic equivalent task min/week)were assessed using questionnaires administered each year from baseline to the 3-year visit.Multiple linear regressions were performed to investigate the associations between the first-year mean PA levels and IF1 concentrations.Mediation analyses were conducted to examine whether apoA-I mediated these associations.Mixedeffect linear regressions were carried out to investigate whether the 1-year visit IF1 concentrations predicted subsequent changes in PA.Results:Multiple linear regressions indicated that first-year mean PA levels were positively associated with IF1 concentrations(b=0.021;SE=0.010;p=0.043).Mediation analyses revealed that about 37.7%of this relationship was mediated by apoA-I(b_(ab)=0.008;SE=0.004;p=0.023).Longitudinal investigations demonstrated that higher concentrations of IF1 at the 1-year visit predicted a faster decline in PA levels over the subsequent 2 years(time×IF1:b=0.148;SE=0.066;p=0.025).Conclusion:This study demonstrates that regular PA is associated with plasma IF1 concentrations,and it suggests that apoA-I partly mediates this association.Additionally,this study f

The reliable estimation of the wavenumber space(k-space)of the plates remains a longterm concern for acoustic modeling and structural dynamic behavior characterization.Most current analyses of wavenumber identification methods are based on the deterministic hypothesis.To this end,an inverse method is proposed for identifying wave propagation characteristics of twodimensional structures under stochastic conditions,such as wavenumber space,dispersion curves,and band gaps.The proposed method is developed based on an algebraic identification scheme in the polar coordinate system framework,thus named Algebraic K-Space Identification(AKSI)technique.Additionally,a model order estimation strategy and a wavenumber filter are proposed to ensure that AKSI is successfully applied.The main benefit of AKSI is that it is a reliable and fast method under four stochastic conditions:(A)High level of signal noise;(b)Small perturbation caused by uncertainties in measurement points’coordinates;(C)Non-periodic sampling;(D)Unknown structural periodicity.To validate the proposed method,we numerically benchmark AKSI and three other inverse methods to extract dispersion curves on three plates under stochastic conditions.One experiment is then performed on an isotropic steel plate.These investigations demonstrate that AKSI is a good in-situ k-space estimator under stochastic conditions.

Introduction: In serodiscordant couples, sharing serostatus is a crucial step in the HIV risk management process. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and factors associated with serostatus sharing among HIV serodiscordant couples in the city of Parakou. Setting and methods: This study was carried out in the city of Parakou, capital of northern benin. It was a descriptive, analytical cross-sectional study with non-probability sampling for convenience. Socio-demographic data, as well as data on antecedents, behaviours, social and marital life, were collected using a questionnaire gave to the participants. Clinical and therapeutic data were collected from patients’ medical records and follow-up charts. Data were analyzed and processed using R 4.3.1 software. The significance level was set at 5%, and logistic regression was used to identify potential predictors of shared serostatus among serodiscordant couples in the city of Parakou in 2022. Results: A total of 299 participants in long-term serodiscordant relationships were included in our study. The average age of the subjects was 37.55 ± 10.25 years. Women were the infected partner in 80.27% of cases. The most common level of education was secondary (33.45%). Most respondents (230 subjects, 76.92%) were married. The average duration of the couple’s relationship was 121.68 months ± 96.32. The most frequent screening circumstances were: Prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) (50.84%) and hospital screening (26.09%). The infected partner shared his or her serostatus with his or her spouse in 47.83% of cases. Potential predictors of serostatus sharing within the couple were: marital status (p Conclusion: The sharing of serostatus within serodiscordant couples needs to be managed in a way that takes into account the social and marital characteristics of the couple.

Microfungi have been explored further as supplement constituents in shrimp culture due to their rich protein,lipid,essential amino acids,fatty acids,and various bioactive compounds.The researchers have evaluated the effects of two microfungi powders(Mucor circinelloides and Trichoderma harzianum)as feed supplements on growth performance,bacterial communities,and the biomass nutritional profile of white shrimp(Litopenaeus vannamei).The results showed that commercial/artificial feed(Feng-Li)with supplementation microfungi powder had a different effect on white shrimp growth performance than control after 62 days of the grow-out period.Supplementation with 1.5%M.circinelloides powder(M-2)could improve the growth performance of white shrimp,especially the survival rate(81.33%),final body weight(5.21 g),and shrimp biomass(211.35 g).In contrast,supplementation with 1.5%T.harzianum powder(T-2)did not improve the growth performance of white shrimp compared to control(p>0.05).Furthermore,it also affected the profile of the bacterial community in culture water as well as in shrimp intestines.Supplementation with both microfungi could reduce the total number of bacteria in culture water at the end of the experiment,where the lowest number was obtained in treatment T-2(3.9×10^(5)CFU/mL),followed by M-2(9.9×10^(5)CFU/mL)and control(4.4×10^(6)CFU/mL).In the culture water,20 isolates of culturable bacteria were found during the trial,with the dominant bacteria in M-2:bacillus cereus,bacillus velezensis,Gordonia polyisoprenivorans,T-2:Acinetobacter sp.,Gordonia polyisoprenivorans,Micrococcus luteus.based on average well colour development(AWCD),the highest bacterial activity was in the M-2(0.297-0.707),followed by T-2(0.226-0.717)and control(0.094-0.694).The highest substrate group utilised in M-2 and T-2 were polymers(0.896 and 1.348)and control:amines(0.100).The highest Shannon diversity index was obtained in the M-2(2.508),followed by control(2.286)and the T-2(2.157).As many as 11 isolates of culturable bacteria were found in

Luminescence constitutes a unique source of insight into hot carrier processes in metals,including those in plasmonic nanostructures used for sensing and energy applications.However,being weak in nature,metal luminescence remains poorly understood,its microscopic origin strongly debated,and its potential for unraveling nanoscale carrier dynamics largely unexploited.Here,we reveal quantum-mechanical effects in the luminescence emanating from thin monocrystalline gold flakes.Specifically,we present experimental evidence,supported by first-principles simulations,to demonstrate its photoluminescence origin(i.e.,radiative emission from electron/hole recombination)when exciting in the interband regime.Our model allows us to identify changes to the measured gold luminescence due to quantum-mechanical effects as the gold film thickness is reduced.Excitingly,such effects are observable in the luminescence signal from flakes up to 40 nm in thickness,associated with the out-of-plane discreteness of the electronic band structure near the Fermi level.We qualitatively reproduce the observations with first-principles modeling,thus establishing a unified description of luminescence in gold monocrystalline flakes and enabling its widespread application as a probe of carrier dynamics and light-matter interactions in this material.Our study paves the way for future explorations of hot carriers and charge-transfer dynamics in a multitude of material systems.

The Influence of Tartaric Acid in the Silver Nanoparticle Synthesis Using Response Surface Methodology

Silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)synthesized using tartaric acid as a capping agent have a great impact on the reaction kinetics and contribute significantly to the stability of AgNPs.The protective layer formed by tartaric acid is an important factor that protects the silver surface and reduces potential cytotoxicity problems.These attributes are critical for assessing the compatibility of AgNPs with biological systems and making them suitable for drug delivery applications.The aim of this research is to conduct a comprehensive study of the effect of tartaric acid concentration,sonication time and temperature on the formation of silver nanoparticles.Using Response Surface Methodology(RSM)with Face-Centered Central Composite Design(FCCD),the optimization process identifies the most favorable synthesis conditions.UV-Vis spectrum regression analysis shows that AgNPs stabilized with tartaric acid are more stable than AgNPs without tartaric acid.This highlights the increased stability that tartaric acid provides in AgNP ssssynthesis.Particle size distribution analysis showed a multimodal distribution for AgNPs with tartaric acid and showed the smallest size peak with an average size of 20.53 nm.The second peak with increasing intensity shows a dominant average size of 108.8 nm accompanied by one standard deviation of 4.225 nm and a zeta potential of−11.08 mV.In contrast,AgNPs synthesized with polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)showed a unimodal particle distribution with an average particle size of 81.62 nm and a zeta potential of−2.96 mV.The more negative zeta potential of AgNP-tartaric acid indicates its increased stability.Evaluation of antibacterial activity showed that AgNPs stabilized with tartaric acid showed better performance against E.coli and b.subtilis bacteria compared with AgNPs-PVP.In summary,this study highlights the potential of tartaric acid in AgNP synthesis and suggests an avenue for the development of stable AgNPs with versatile applications.
