Flame-retardant ammonium polyphosphate/MXene decorated carbon foam materials as polysulfide traps for fire-safe and stable lithium-sulfur batteries

Lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries are one of the most promising modern-day energy supply systems because of their high theoretical energy density and low ***,the development of high-energy density Li-S batteries with high loading of flammable sulfur faces the challenges of electrochemical performance degradation owing to the shuttle effect and safety issues related to fire or explosion *** this work,we report a three-dimensional(3D)conductive nitrogen-doped carbon foam supported electrostatic self-assembled MXene-ammonium polyphosphate(NCF-MXene-APP)layer as a heat-resistant,thermally-insulated,flame-retardant,and freestanding host for Li-S batteries with a facile and costeffective synthesis ***,through the use of NCF-MXene-APP hosts that strongly anchor polysulfides,the Li-S batteries demonstrate outstanding electrochemical properties,including a high initial discharge capacity of 1191.6 mA h g^(-1),excellent rate capacity of 755.0 mA h g^(-1)at 1 C,and long-term cycling stability with an extremely low-capacity decay rate of 0.12%per cycle at 2 *** importantly,these batteries can continue to operate reliably under high temperature or flame attack ***,this study provides valuable insights into the design of safe high-performance Li-S batteries.

High-temperature superconductivity(HTSC)remains one of the most challenging and fascinating mysteries in condensed matter ***,superconductivity with transition temperature exceeding liquid-nitrogen temperature is discovered in La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(7) at high pressure,which provides a new platform to explore the unconventional *** this work,using high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and ab initio calculation,we systematically investigate the electronic structures of La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(7) at ambient *** experiments are in nice agreement with ab initio calculations after considering an orbital-dependent band renormalization *** strong electron correlation effect pushes a flat band of d_(z^(2))𝑧2 orbital component below the Fermi level(E_(F)),which is predicted to locate right at E_(F) under high ***,the d_(x^(2)−y^(2)) band shows pseudogap-like behavior with suppressed spectral weight and diminished quasiparticle peak near E_(F).Our findings provide important insights into the electronic structure of La_(3)Ni_(2)O_(7),which will shed light on understanding of the unconventional superconductivity in nickelates.

Olefin polymerization is one of the most im portant chemical reactions in *** work presents a strategy that emphasizes the synergistic meta/poro-steric hindrance of N-aryl groups and electronic effects in newly synthesized neutral salicylaldiminato nickel *** nickel(Ⅱ)catalysts exhibit exceptional thermostability,ranging from 30℃to 130℃,demonstrating enhanced catalytic activities and broadly regulated polyethylene molecular weights(3-341 kg·mol^(-1))and controlled polymer branch density(2-102 brs/1000C).The preferred catalyst Ni3 with concerted steric and electronic effects enables the production of solid-state semi-crystalline polyethylene materials at temperatures below 90℃.Notably,Ni3 exhibits an impressive tolerance of 110℃and can withstand even the challenging polymerization temperature of 130℃,leading to the production of polyethylene wax and ***,functionalized polyethylene is produced.

Designing metal-organic framework fiber network reinforced polymer electrolytes to provide continuous ion transport in solid state lithium metal batteries

Polyethylene oxide(PEO)-based solid-state electrolytes are considered ideal for electrolyte materials in solid-state lithium metal batteries(SSLMBs).However,practical applications are hindered by the lower conductivity and poor interfacial ***,we propose a strategy to construct a three-dimensional(3D)fiber network of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs).Composite solid electrolytes(CSEs)with continuous ion transport pathways were fabricated by filling a PEO polymer matrix in fibers containing interconnected *** 3D fiber network provides a fast Li+transport path and effectively improves the ionic conductivity(1.36×10^(-4) S·cm^(-1),30℃).In addition,the network of interconnected MOFs not only effectively traps the anions,but also provides sufficient mechanical strength to prevent the growth of Li *** from the advantages of structural design,the CSEs stabilize the Li/electrolyte interface and extend the cycle life of the Li-symmetric cells to 3000 *** assembled SSLMBs exhibit excellent cycling performance at both room and high *** addition,the constructed pouch cells can provide an areal capacity of 0.62 mA·h·cm^(-2),which can still operate under extreme *** work provides a new strategy for the design of CSEs with continuous structure and stable operation of SSLMBs.

A robust indium-organic framework with open tubular channels for efficient separation of acetylene

Considering the tremendous applications and purification requirement of acetylene(C_(2)H_(2)),seeking appropriate adsorbents with high capacity and selectivity is a vital task and remains an enduring ***,we designed and synthesized a robust three-dimensional(3D)indium-organic framework([(Me)_(2)NH_(2)][In(L6)_(0.5)(IPA)_(0.5)]·DMA·2H_(2)O(In-L6-IPA,DMA=dimethylammonium,IPA=isopropyl alcohol))featuring two types of one-dimensional(1D)tubular *** activated In-L6-IPA displayed high loading for C_(2)H_(2)(104.4 cm^(3)·g^(-1),the second highest value among all reported indium-based metal-organic frameworks(MOFs))and simultaneously selective adsorption for C_(2)H_(2) over CO_(2),C_(2)H_(6),and ethylene(C_(2)H_(4))at 298 K under 100 *** modelling revealed that the porous wall of In-L6-IPA provides more and stronger multiple interactions for C_(2)H_(2) than CO_(2),C_(2)H_(6),and C_(2)H_(4) containing C–H···π,C–H···O,and O···π*** experiments validated the actual separation ability for various ratios of binary C_(2)H_(2)/C_(2)H_(4) and C_(2)H_(2)/CO_(2) mixtures as well as equimolar ternary C_(2)H_(2)/C_(2)H_(4)/CO_(2) and C_(2)H_(2)/C_(2)H_(4)/C_(2)H_(6) mixtures with excellent reusability.

Systematic study of the synthesis of heavy and superheavy nuclei in 48Ca-induced fusion-evaporation reactions

We systematically studied the evaporation residue cross sections of ^(48)Ca-induced reactions on lanthanide and actinide target nuclei under the Dinuclear System(DNS)model framework to check the reliability and applicability of the *** produce new proton-rich Fl and Lv isotopes through hot fusion reactions in the superheavy element region with Z≥104,we utilized the reactions ^(48)Ca+^(236,238,239) Pu and ^(48)Ca+^(242,243,244,250) ***,owing to the detection limit of available equipment(0.1 pb),only 283Fl and 287−289Lv,which have the maximum evaporation residue cross section values of 0.149,0.130,9.522,and 0.309 pb,respectively,can be ***,to produce neutron-deficient isotopes of actinides near the proton drip line with Z=93−100,we attempted to generate the new isotopes(224−227Pu,228−232,237Cm)using the reactions ^(48)Ca+180,182,183 W and ^(48)Ca+^(184,186,187,192) *** maximum evaporation residue cross section values are 0.07,0.06,0.26,and 0.30 nb for the former set of reactions,and 1.96 pb,5.73 pb,12.16 pb,19.39 pb,54.79 pb,and 6.45 nb for the latter,*** results are expected to provide new information for the future synthesis of unknown neutron-deficient isotopes.

Booming sophisticated robotics and prosthetics put forward high requirements on soft conductive materials that can bridge electronics and biology,those soft conductive materials should imitate the mechanical properties of biological tissues and build information transmission *** now,it remains a great challenge to handle the trade-off among ease of preparation,high conductivity,processability,mechanical adaptability,and external stimuli ***,a kind of readily prepared and processed multifunctional MXene nanocomposite hydrogel is reported,which is prepared via the fast gelation of cationic monomer initiated by delaminated MXene *** gelation time can be adjusted(several seconds to minutes)based on the MXene *** adjusting the MXene ratio,the resulting nanocomposites are ultrastretchable(>5000%),three-dimensional(3D)printable,and show outstanding mechanical and electrical *** expected,the integration of multifunctional systems onto various substrates(e.g.,gloves and masks)is further demonstrated via 3D printing and could achieve diverse sensory capabilities toward strain,pressure,and temperature,showing great prospects as smart flexible electronics.

Negative enthalpy alloys and local chemical ordering:a concept and route leading to synergy of strength and ductility

Solid solutions are ubiquitous in metals and alloys. Local chemical ordering(LCO) is a fundamental sub-nano/nanoscale process that occurs in many solid solutions and can be used as a microstructure to optimize strength and ductility. However, the formation of LCO has not been fully elucidated, let alone how to provide efficient routes for designing LCO to achieve synergistic effects on both superb strength and ductility. Herein, we propose the formation and control of LCO in negative enthalpy alloys. With engineering negative enthalpy in solid solutions, genetic LCO components are formed in negative enthalpy refractory high-entropy alloys(RHEAs). In contrast to conventional ‘trial-and-error' approaches, the control of LCO by using engineering negative enthalpy in RHEAs is instructive and results in superior strength(1160 MPa) and uniform ductility(24.5%) under tension at ambient temperature, which are among the best reported so far. LCO can promote dislocation cross-slip, enhancing the interaction between dislocations and their accumulation at large tensile strains; sustainable strain hardening can thereby be attained to ensure high ductility of the alloy. This work paves the way for new research fields on negative enthalpy solid solutions and alloys for the synergy of strength and ductility as well as new functions.

Energy flux and waveform of gravitational wave generated by coalescing slow-spinning binary system in effective one-body theory

We extend our research on the energy flux and waveform characteristics of gravitational waves generated by merging nonspinning binary black holes through self-consistent effective one-body theory to include binary systems with slowly spinning black ***,we decompose the equation for the null tetrad component of the gravitationally perturbed Weyl tensorψ_4~B into radial and angular parts,leveraging the second-order approximation of the rotation parameter ***,we derive an analytical solution for the radial equation and observe that our results are contingent upon the parameters a_(2),a_(3),and a,which represent the second-and third-order correction parameters,***,we calculate the energy flux,the radiation-reaction force and the waveform for the“plus”and“cross”modes of the gravitational waves generated by merging slowly spinning binary black holes.
