Objective:The objective of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antiplasmodial properties against malaria parasite in 15 plants mentioned in Indian traditional medicine ***:In vitro antiplasmodial activity of methanolic extracts obtained from Indian traditional medicinal plants was evaluated on Plasmodium falciparum of FCK2 and INdO strains using schizont maturation inhibition assay and parasite lactate dehydrogenase inhibition ***:Methanolic extracts of Adhatoda zeylanica,Embelia ribes,Piper nigrum and Plumbago zeylanica exhibited more than 50%inhibition in both the stains in schizont maturation inhibition *** extracts of seven medicinal plants exhibited antiplasmodial activity at half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50)d methanolic extracts of five medicinal plants exhibited antiplasmodial activity at IC50dehydrogenase(PfLdH)inhibition ***,*** and *** exhibited promising antiplasmodial activity in PfLdH inhibition *** and *** exhibited improved activity against resistant in comparison to sensitive ***:*** and *** were the most promising extracts from this study and deserve further investigation of their antiplasmodial properties.

AIM： To examine the effect of dA-9601, a new gastroprotective agent, on the vulnerability of ethanoltreated rat＇s stomach to naproxen （NAP）. METHOdS： Male Sprague-dawley rats were pretreated with 1 mL of 50% ethanol twice a day for 5 d and then NAP （50 mg/kg） was administered. dA-9601 was admin- istered 1 h before NAP. Four hours after NAP, the rats were killed to examine gross injury index （mm2）, histologic change and to determine mucosal levels of malondialdehyde （MdA）, prostaglandin E2 （PGE2）, glutathione （GSH） and myeloperoxidase （MPO）. RESULTS： Pretreatment of ethanol significantly increased NAP-induced gastric lesions, as well as an increase in NdA and MPO. On the contrary, mucosal PGE2 and GSH contents were decreased dramatically by ethanol pretreatment, which were aggravated by NAR dA-9601 significantly reduced NAP-induced gastric injury grossly and microscopically, regardless of pretreatment with ethanol. dA-9601 preserved, or rather, increased mucosal PGE2 and GSH in NAP-treated rats （P〈0.05）, with reduction in mucosal MdA and MPO levels. CONCLUSION： These results suggest that repeated alcohol consumption renders gastric mucosa more susceptible to NSAIds though, at least in part, reduction of endogenous cytoprotectants including PGE2 and GSH, and increase in MPO activation, and that dA-9601, a new gastroprotectant, can reduce the increased vulnerability of ethanol consumers to NSAIds-induced gastric damage via the mechanism in which PGE2 and GSH are involved.

Aim:To investigate the influence of omeprazole on the pharmacokinetics ofdomperidone given as free base and maleate ***:An open,randomized,2-period crossover study with a washout period of 7 d was conducted in 10healthy Chinese,male *** each study period,the patients were adminis-tered a single oral dose of 10 mg domperidone as free base or maleate salt on d 1,20 mg omeprazole twice daily on d 2 and 3,and once on d 4.A single dose of 10 mgdomperidone as free base or maleate salt was taken at 4 h after administration ofomeprazole on d *** samples were collected on d 1 and 4 after the adminis-tration of domperidone,and the plasma concentrations of domperidone were de-termined by a sensitive liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry ***:For free-base domperidone,pretreatment with omeprazole resulted in a16% decrease in maximum concentration(Cmax),compared with administrationalone（Ppharmacokinetic parameters were significantly *** the free baseand maleate salt were administered alone,no differences were found in any param-eters between the 2 *** contrast,when they were administered in thepresence of omeprazole,the Cmaxof domperidone given as free base was lower（25.9%）than that given as maleate salt（Pdoes not affect the absorption of domperidone maleate,but leads to amoderately decreased rate of absorption of the free base.
