Many drinking water treatment plants in the U.S. have switched from chlorination to chloramination to lower levels of regulated trihalomethane(THM) and haloacetic acid(HAA) disinfection byproducts(dBPs) in drinking water and meet the current regulations. However, chloramination can also produce other highly toxic/carcinogenic, unregulated dBPs: iodoacids, iodo-THMs, and N-nitrosodimethylamine(NdMA). In practice, chloramines are generated by the addition of chlorine with ammonia, and plants use varying amounts of free chlorine contact time prior to ammonia addition to effectively kill pathogens and meet dBP regulations. However, iodo-dBPs and nitrosamines are generally not considered in this balancing of free chlorine contact time. The goal of our work was to determine whether an optimal free chlorine contact time could be established in which iodo-dBPs and NdMA could be minimized, while keeping regulated THMs and HAAs below their regulatory limits. The effect of free chlorine contact time was evaluated for the formation of six iodo-trihalomethanes(iodo-THMs), six iodo-acids, and NdMA during the chloramination of drinking water. Ten different free chlorine contact times were examined for two source waters with different dissolved organic carbon(dOC) and bromide/iodide. For the low dOC water at ph 7 and 8, an optimized free chlorine contact time of up to 1 h could control regulated THMs and HAAs, as well as iodo-dBPs and NdMA. For the high dOC water, a free chlorine contact time of 5 min could control iodo-dBPs and NdMA at both p Hs, but the regulated dBPs could exceed the regulations at ph 7.

Objective: In patients with spinal cord injury, one of the factors that have a major role in the skeletal bone mass and bone health is nutrition. The two necessary nutrients for bone health are calcium and vitamin d. dairy products and animal sources have been identified as the main sources for calcium and vitamin d in the diet. This study tries to compare serum 25-hydroxyl vitamin d levels and calcium with dietary intakes of chronic spinal cord injury persons. Method: 162 participants, 18-62 years of age, apparently healthy patients with a spinal cord injury were recruited in a cross-sectional study. Their dietary intakes were assessed by a semi quantitative food-frequency questionnaire. Serum calcium, phosphorous and vitamin d were measured. Results: In four different SCI patients group, the percentages of calcium, vitamin d and dairy intake except phosphorous were below guideline reference and were not age or sex dependent. The average values of serum total calcium in age d deficiency was defined for the study patients. Conclusion: Conclusions: Calcium and vitamin d deficiency has been identified in spinal cord injury patients. Adequate sunlight exposure plus supplementation, fortified dairy intake for long periods, correction of nutritional deficits, and nutritional patient education is highly recommended.

Abstract despite important gains in human rights, persons with disabilities -- and in particular women and girls with disabilities -- continue to experience significant inequalities in the areas of sexual, reproductive, and parenting rights. Persons with disabilities are sterilized at alarming rates; have decreased access to reproductive health care services and information; and experience denial of parenthood. Precipitating these inequities are substantial and instantiated stereotypes of persons with disabilities as either asexual or unable to engage in sexual or reproductive activities, and as incapable of performing parental duties. The article begins with an overview of sexual, reproductive, and parenting rights regarding persons with disabilities. Because most formal adjudications of these related rights have centered on the issue of sterilization, the article analyzes commonly presented rationales used to justify these procedures over time and across jurisdictions. Next, the article examines the Convention on the Rights of Persons with disabilities and the attendant obligations of States Parties regarding rights to personal integrity, access to reproductive health care services and information, parenting, and the exercise of legal capacity. Finally, the article highlights fundamental and complex issues requiring future research and consideration.

For the computation of the sediment quantity released from reservoirs, a vertical two-dimensional hydrodynamic model is combined with a sediment transport model. The hydrodynamic model is based on the equations of mass and momentum conservation along with a k ?ε model for closure of the Reynolds stresses. The sediment transport model is based on the convection-diffusion equation of sediment concentration and the sediment continuity equation. Both the hydrodynamic and sediment transport models are developed in a boundary-fitted curvilinear co-ordinate system. Comparison of the predicted mean velocity field with laboratory results indicates that the present model captures most experimental trends with reasonable accuracy. Also good agreement is found in comparison of the sediment transport results for the numerical model and the experimental model.

＜正＞ This paper deals with the energy management of instantaneous electrical generation/ electrical storage power split in serie’s Hybrid Electric Vehicle （HEV）. This energy management is related to some rules that have been performed by state flow toolbox （ver 5） of Matlab 6.5 software. The efficient management of the power-train of HEV requires the careful coordination of engine and other of ancillary power reservoirs such as batteries which performed by simulink and advisor *** system is simulated to demonstrate the validity and the convenience of a qualitative approach instead of a deterministic one. It prepares a good environment for supervisory control of engine in this kind of hybrid systems. The simulation results confirm the feasibility and encourage more research toward an actual application.
