Objective： To observe the influence of Nie-pinching the spine manipulation on the excretory rate ot urine D-xylose in the infants with diarrhea due to spleen deficiency, and to assess the clinical effects. Methods： Sixty infants in conformity with the diagnostic criteria of diarrhea due to spleen deficiency were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group by the random digital table, 30 cases in each group. The infants in the treatment group were treated by Nie-pinching the spine manipulation and traditional infantile tuina, in addition to the routine basic treatment. The infants in the control group were treated by the same traditional infantile tuina in addition to the routine basic treatment. The infants in the two groups were treated once every day, 4 weeks as a course. Totally, the treatment was given for a course. The symptom integrals of spleen deficiency were used to assess the improvement in the symptoms. The colorimetry was used to determine the excretory rate of urine D-xylose. Results： in the comparison of the same group before and after the treatment, the differences in the global score of spleen deficiency symptoms and the excretory rate of urine D-xylose in the two groups were statistically significant （all P〈0.01）. After the treatment, the differences in the global score of spleen deficiency symptoms and the excretory rate of urine D-xylose between the two groups were all statistically significant （both P〈0.01）. Conclusion： Chiropractics can reduce the integrals of spleen deficiency symptoms and elevate the excretory rate of urine D-xylose in the infants with diarrhea due to spleen deficiency, so as to enhance the therapeutic effects by alleviating the symptoms of spleen deficiency and the absorptive function of the small intestine.

Barrett's esophagus in children: what is the evidence?

Background This study systematically reviewed etiology, prevalence, treatment and outcome of Barrett's esophagus (BE) in the pediatric population. Methods PubMed? was searched for terms 'Barrett's esophagus' and 'children'. End points were age of patients, etiology, association with other syndromes, treatment, incidence of carcinoma and outcome. This review was conducted according to the PRISMA guidelines. Data were collected, entered and analyzed into a Microsoft Excel? spreadsheet database. Results Search revealed 278 articles published between 1984 and 2017, of which 18 met the inclusion criteria. There were 130 patients for analysis with a mean age 10.6 years (0.8–17.2 years). BE was diagnosed in 80 patients with confirmed gastroesophageal reflux (GER) only;further 20 patients were neurologically impaired and had GER, 13 after esophageal atresia (EA) with or without tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) repair with associated GER, 6 post-chemotherapy, 1 after post caustic burns, 1 after esophageal replacement with stomach, 1 after peptic esophageal stricture, 1 with secretory diarrhea, 1 with Fanconi anemia, 1 tetralogy of Fallot, and 5 healthy children. Regarding treatment, 26 were on medical treatment only, 16 had surgeries combined with medical treatment, 80 patients underwent surgery only, 1 was on diet management, 4 were on surveillance only and 2 were never treated for BE as death occurred because of associated conditions. Fundoplication was the most commonly performed surgery (82.2%). Adenocarcinoma was found in one 23-year-old patient. Mean follow-up was 3.45 years (10 months–13 years) and long-term outcome showed recurrences in 8 and esophago-mediastinal fistula and proximal esophagus ulcer in 1. There were 7 lethal outcomes which were not directly associated with BE. Conclusions Although BE is considered a premalignant condition;incidence of carcinoma in pediatric population is low. Long-term follow-up with endoscopies and biopsies seems to be advisable for

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of treating infantile diarrhea due to spleen deficiency with five-step pediatric tuina of Huxiang ***:Using a randomized controlled trial design,sixty eligible kids with diarrhea due to spleen deficiency were randomized into an observation group and a control group,with 30 cases in each *** observation group was intervened by the five-step pediatric tuina method of Huxiang school,and the control group received conventional tuina *** intervention was conducted once a day,consecutive 5-day treatment as 1 course,at a 2-day interval between courses,successively for a total of 4 *** in the primary and secondary symptoms of diarrhea due to spleen deficiency were observed,and the clinical efficacy was ***:After treatment,the scores of primary and secondary symptoms and the general score of diarrhea due to spleen deficiency were improved;the improvements in fecal form and frequency,decreased appetite,bloating after meals and fatigue and sluggishness were more significant in the observation group than in the control ***:The five-step pediatric tuina method of Huxiang school and conventional tuina both can improve the primary and secondary symptoms in infantile diarrhea due to spleen deficiency,while the former one can produce more significant efficacy.

Acupoint Shousanli （LI 10） is also called Shangsanli, Guixie, locates at the radial aspect of the back of the forearm, 2 cun below Quchi （LI 11）, on the line joining Yangxi （LI 5） and Quchi （LI 11）. Shousanli （LI 10） was firstly recorded in Zhen Jiu Jia Yi Jing （A-B Canon of Acupuncture and Moxibustion）. It is widely applied in clinic, and especially acts to dredge meridians and collaterals, promote qi circulation to relieve pain. Now, the clinical applications of Shousanli （LI 10） were summarized as follows.

Objective： To observe the clinical efficacy of buccal acupuncture plus exercise therapy in treating scapulohumera periarthritis （SP）. Methods： Sixty-three SP patients were intervened by bucca once every day, 5 sessions as a course, with a 2-3 d interval after 3 courses of treatment. acupuncture plus exercise therapy. The treatment was given between two courses. The therapeutic efficacy was observed Results： Thirty-five patients were recovered, 23 cases were improved, while 5 cases showed ineffective, and the total effective rate was 92.2%. Conclusion： Buccal acupuncture plus exercise therapy can produce a significant efficacy in treating SP, and thus is worth promotion in clinic.
