Poly(disulfide)s have been widely used in flexible wearable electronics,smart materials,and drug *** synthesis of poly(disulfide)s usually utilizes external stimuli or toxic initiators to promote the ***,we indicated that the long-range electronic effect can significantly alter the reactivity of the disulfide ***,we established deprotonation-promoted ring-opening polymerization of thioctic acid(TA)as a highly effective and simple method to synthesize poly(disulfide)s due to the long-range electronic effect and nucleophilic *** external stimuli and initiators,simple mixing of TA and deprotonation reagent,choline bicarbonate,in different ratios at room temperature rapidly produced a series of high molecular weight(up to 772 kDa)ionic liquid crystal poly(disulfide)s elastomers with room temperature self-healing ability,adjustable conductivity(2.39×10^(−2)∼0.28×10^(−2)S m^(−1)),degradability,biocompatibility,antibacterial property,and tissue-like softness(Young’s moduli ranging from 18.2±6.0 to 111.1±36.7 kPa).The experiments and density functional theory calculations also revealed the principle of long-range electronic effect to establish a new synthetic strategy of poly(disulfide)s with superior properties favorable for bioelectronics.

Objective: This study aims to systematically examine the existing evidence regarding the clinical benefits of carbocysteine as an adjunctive treatment in acute bronchopulmonary and otorhinological processes. Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Data sources: An electronic search was conducted across PubMed, Cochrane Library, ***, and the European Clinical Trial Register, with the search dated to May 2023. Bibliographic references from other literature reviews and meta-analyses were also reviewed. The search was limited to randomized clinical trials published in any language and year. It was completed by cross-checking the references of the located articles. Methods: Inclusion criteria covered studies assessing systemic or inhaled carbocysteine, regardless of dosing regimen. Concomitant medication use was acceptable if balanced between intervention and control groups. Authors independently extracted data, resolving disagreements through consensus. Methodological quality assessment relied on critical reading of each study. Dichotomous variables were analyzed using odds ratio (OR), and a final effect size was calculated. Statistical significance was established when confidence intervals did not cross the neutral value. Heterogeneity was assessed via the X2 test and I2 index. Results: Out of 318 initially identified studies, 4 met inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis for poor general condition yielded an OR of 0.45 in favor of intervention, p = 0.013, with non-significant heterogeneity. Cough events showed a percentage of 15.8% for carbocysteine vs. 27.2% for placebo. On the seventh day, expectoration rates were 18.37% for carbocysteinevs 33.3% for placebo. Conclusions: The observed clinical benefits align with carbocysteine’s mucoactive and muco-regulatory properties, complemented by anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions. AIM： To determine whether there was an association between inter-cellular adhesion molecule-1 （ICAM-1） gene polymorphism and biliary atresia （BA）, and to investigate the relationship between serum soluble ICAM-1 （sICAM-1） and clinical outcome in BA patients after surgical treatment, METHODS： Eighty-three BA patients and 115 normal controls were genotyped. K469EICAM-1 polymorphism was analyzed using PCR assay. Serum sICAM-1 was determined using ELISA rnebhod from 72 BA patients. In order to evaluate the association between these variables and their clinical outcome, the patients were categorized into two groups： patients without jaundice and those with persistent jaundice. RESULTS： There were no significant differences between BA patients and controls in terms of gender, K469E ICAM-1 genotypes, and alleles. The proportion of patients having serum sICAM-1 ≥3 500 ng/mL in persistent jaundice group was significantly higher than that in the other group. In addition, there was no association between K469EICAM-1 polymorphism and the status of jaundice in BA patients after Kasai operation. CONCLUSION： ICAM-1 possibly plays an important and active role in the disease progression. However, the process is not associated with genetic variation of K469E ICAM-1 polymorphism.

Background Respiratory syncytial virus(RSV)is the leading global cause of respiratory infections and is responsible for about 3 million hospitalizations and more than 100,000 deaths annually in children younger than 5 years,representing a major global healthcare *** is a great unmet need for new agents and universal strategies to prevent RSV infections in early life.A multidisciplinary consensus development group comprising experts in epidemiology,infectious diseases,respiratory medicine,and methodology aims to develop the current consensus to address clinical issues of RSV infections in *** sources The evidence searches and reviews were conducted using electronic databases,including PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,and the Cochrane Library,using variations in terms for"respiratory syncytial virus","RSV","lower respiratory tract infection","bronchiolitis","acute","viral pneumonia","neonatal","infant""children",and"pediatric".Results Evidence-based recommendations regarding diagnosis,treatment,and prevention were proposed with a high degree of *** supportive care remains the cornerstone for the management of RSV infections,new monoclonal antibodies,vaccines,drug therapies,and viral surveillance techniques are being rolled *** This consensus,based on international and national scientific evidence,reinforces the current recommendations and integrates the recent advances for optimal care and prevention of RSV *** improvements in the management of RSV infections will require generating the highest quality of evidence through rigorously designed studies that possess little bias and sufficient capacity to identify clinically meaningful end points.

BACKGROUND The gastrointestinal symptom rating scale(GSRS)is a questionnaire in English language which is designed to assess the clinical symptoms in patients with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)and peptic ulcer *** validated scale has questions on around 15 items and has been validated in patients with dyspepsia and *** To translate and validate the English version of the GSRS questionnaire to the Hindi *** The purpose of the present work was to create a Hindi version of this questionnaire for use in the Indian *** process involved various steps as per the World Health Organization methodology including initial forward translation,backward translation,and assessment by an expert *** pilot testing was followed by testing in healthy and diseased *** The Hindi translation was pilot tested in 20 individuals and further validated in healthy controls(n=30,15 females)and diseased individuals(n=72,27 females).The diseased group included patients with functional dyspepsia and ***'s alpha for internal consistency on the final translated GSRS questionnaire was 0.715 which is considered *** questions significantly differentiated the diseased population from the healthy population(P valueunity surveys in Hindi speaking populations.

To the Editor:Air pollution can lead to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases(CVDs),and its impact on human health is very *** particles less than 0.1µm can pass through the blood brain barrier,reach the brain,and enter the central nervous system,causing physiological and pathological changes.A study shows that long-term exposure to fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))will increase the risk of CVDs among Chinese residents.^([1])Another study found that a short time exposure to low concentrations of air pollutants may also lead to the onset of acute coronary syndrome within one hour.^([2])A meta-analysis based on seven databases showed that environmental air pollution was positively correlated with elevated blood pressure and hypertension.^([3])Mounting evidence indicates that air pollution can cause cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and affect human health furtherly.
