The Impact of Big Five Personality Traits on Older Europeans’ Physical Health

Investigating the role of Big Five personality traits in relation to various health outcomes has been extensively studied. The impact of “Big Five” on physical health is here explored for older Europeans with a focus on examining age groups differences. The study sample included 378,500 respondents derived from the seventh data wave of Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The physical health status of older Europeans was estimated by constructing an index considering the combined effect of well-established health indicators such as the number of chronic diseases, mobility limitations, limitations with basic and instrumental activities of daily living, and self-perceived health. This index was used for an overall physical health assessment, for which the higher the score for an individual, the worst health level. Then, through a dichotomization process applied to the retrieved Principal Component Analysis scores, a two-group discrimination (good or bad health status) of SHARE participants was obtained as regards their physical health condition, allowing for further con-structing logistic regression models to assess the predictive significance of “Big Five” and their protective role for physical health. Results showed that neuroti-cism was the most significant predictor of physical health for all age groups un-der consideration, while extraversion, agreeableness and openness were not found to significantly affect the self-reported physical health levels of midlife adults aged 50 up to 64. Older adults aged 65 up to 79 were more prone to open-ness, whereas the oldest old individuals aged 80 up to 105 were mainly affected by openness and conscientiousness. .

A geographical information system approach for evaluating the optimum location of point-like facilities in a hierarchical network

Nhis paper discusses a methodology for solving the problem of finding an optimum location for a number of facilities entering an existing hierarchical *** locational optimization problem is approached with a continuous *** facilities are considered as *** proposed methodology solves these problems by using Voronoi diagrams to define the catchment area and minimizes the average distance traveled by the *** approach is implemented by loose coupling between the Directed Tabu Search algorithm for continuous nonlinear optimization with constraints and the Geographical Information System where the cost function is *** the case study example,facilities operate in a hierarchical network consisting of bank branches and Automated Teller Machines(ATM)of a private Greek bank.A new bank branch location and the insertion of an ATM were examined and compared,providing an improvement of 25.6 and 12.8%,*** proposed approach resulted in visualizing the optimum location on the map,providing the ability to study the modifications that *** could be a useful tool in the hands of practitioners and provide new options in the decision-making process.

Financial Effectiveness of Greek Municipalities： An Empirical Investigation

Municipalities are autonomous economic and administrative entities, with common actions and responsibilities. Moreover, all Municipalities are quite different considering specific characteristics, such as geographic, demographic, and economic. The aim of this research is to separate the entire sample of Municipalities in Greece into categories, based on the effectiveness of financial management and financial performance into effective and ineffective ones. For the separation of the sample into groups, cluster analysis was preferred. For this reason, three variables were used： the lending capacity of the Municipality, flexibility in making non-investment costs, and flexibility in investment spending. These three variables were considered to be the key dimensions of effectiveness in financial management and therefore their use, representatively describes the effectiveness of Greek Municipalities. Thus, this paper presents the literature review of the financial effectiveness of Municipalities and the methodology of an empirical research through structured questionnaire that was sent to the entire population of Greek Municipalities, characterized in this way with considerable heterogeneity. In this way, it investigates the views of Mayors in the two categories of Municipalities （effective and non effective financial management and financial performance） as regards：（a） the biggest problems faced by the citizens in their Municipality, and （b） the biggest personnel problems faced by their Municipality. Concluding, the prioritization of both problems seems to be the same for both groups of Municipalities. The frequency of responses differs slightly and differences are not so large that financial performance can be considered to affect respondents＇ opinions.

This investigation is substantial because it is very interesting in-depth observation of current situation of the financial management capabilities of Municipalities, and additionally because it is crucial to extract the differences in specific characteristics between economical efficient and inefficient Municipalities. For the separation of the sample into groups, cluster analysis was preferred. For this reason, three variables were used： the lending capacity of the municipality, flexibility in making non-investment costs, and flexibility in investment spending. These three variables were considered to be the key dimensions of effectiveness in financial management and therefore their use, representatively describes the effectiveness or not of Greek Municipalities. In this study, it investigated the existence of differences between the characteristics of these two categories. The features are ＂how Municipalities are working with specialist consultants＂ and ＂how Municipalities are using modem technologies＂. The main objective is to investigate the influence of these two characteristics in the efficiency of managing financial resources.

The Client Attachment to Therapist Scale (CATS) in a Greek Clinical Population: A Validation Study

Client attachment to therapist has been long considered a prominent process variable in psychotherapy research. The purpose of this study was to translate in Greek and evaluate the structure, reliability, convergent and discriminant validity of the well-known and widely administered Client Attachment to Therapist Scale (CATS) with exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis in a clinical sample of 153 clients of different treatment modalities and at different agencies. The results indicated that the EFA resulted in a model almost identical to the Mallinckrodt, Gantt and Coble’s [1] original model after the deletion of six items. Moreover, the findings indicated adequate internal consistency, test-retest reliability, convergent and discriminant validity of the three factors. Normalized scores were provided to help mental health professionals interpret the scale scores. In conclusion, CATS is a valid and reliable tool to measure client attachment to therapist, whose use can promote psychotherapeutic process and outcome. Thus, more validation studies should be conducted in several cultural contexts to better understand its structure and psychometric characteristics.

Εvaluation of Health-Related Quality of Life in Lung Cancer Patients in Greece and Associations with Demographic and Medical Characteristics

Lung cancer is a common type of cancer. The aim of this study was to examine Health-Related Quality of Life (ΗRQOL) in lung cancer patients and the demographic/medical characteristics that are related to it. A cross-sectional study was conducted in “Sotiria” Chest Diseases Hospital, Greece, with a sample of 200 lung cancer patients. Patients completed a composite questionnaire including demographic/medical information, EORTC-QLQ-C30 and ΕΟRTC-QLQ-LC13. The duration of the study was 17 months (April 2014 to August 2015). SPSS v.25 was used for the analysis of data. Mean age was 68.5 years, 70.5% were men, 81% were married, 84% had Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and 16% had Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC). Patients evaluated their ΗRQOL as moderate (Μ = 51.71). The predominant symptoms were fatigue, pain, dyspnoea, insomnia, and appetite loss. Most of the symptoms were negatively correlated with the functional scales of EORTC-QLQ-C30. Better perceived health and ΗRQOL were related to the absence of recurrence and higher educational level. All functional scales were significantly affected by recurrence. Gender, income status, metastases, information about the diagnosis and months elapsed since diagnosis significantly affected only some functional scales. These results can be used to identify patients at high risk for having poor HRQOL and to improve their therapy plan. Future research is suggested, in order to further investigate and clarify the study’s results.

The science of technology keeps growing and evolving, through which people try to used both their lifestyle relative services and products to facilitate the fulfillment of needs and desires of consumers. For this reason, the following research has been written, which studies the electronic business＇s advantages and position on the precise definition in the Greek industry. Finally, econometric regression models are analyzed; those are specific to the field of e-banking in Greece. People in this country are frustrated due to the criminal cases, especially elder. That can be the reason they have to use internet. How do they feel of being part of this new model, do they have to be afraid of being robbed？ This paper presents a new way to do business such as start-ups and spins-offs, moreover introduces some of them, most recognized, that take place in Greece. It explains the necessary process in order to use those programs. The opportunities for innovative applications from young people will be held and conclusions are regarding to consumer behavior towards these services. Everything has to be measured--age, income, sex, even, and the occupation. Demographic variables are those which define the most decisive results that identify the consumer behavior.

Sense of Coherence, Self-Disclosure, and Depression in Lung Cancer Patients

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sense of coherence and depression and the mediating role of self-disclosure in lung cancer patients. Α cross-sectional study was conducted in “Sotiria” Chest Diseases Hospital, Greece, with a sample of 200 lung cancer patients. The administered questionnaires included demographic-medical information, SOC-13, Distress Disclosure Index, and CES-D scale. Analysis was performed by SPSS v.23 and PROCESS. Depression was common (41%) and negatively correlated to SOC (rho = -0.843, df = 198, p SOC of these patients.

Models of Tax Planning Simulation: The Case of Greece

This paper highlights the timeless failure of the tax system in Greece despite its continuous reform, addressing the study of tax evasion phenomenon with a different approach. The study aims to identify socio-psychological characteristics and attitudes that affect the study of tax behavior using the mathematical research of linear models for tax policy and to assess tax behavior with simulation models, where state reform, tax reform and fiscal restructuring—along with social consensus, transparency and fair taxation—are control parameters. The survey involved 320 taxpayers from the entire Greek territory. Mathematical study using linear analysis showed that a linear model integrates fiscal, social and psychological factors are significantly better in representing tax behavior, lowering tax evasion. Specifically, a main futures model is bettering the tax behavior (R2 = 0.237) improving the tax revenues. These results plainly infer the conclusion that tax behavior in Greece might affected by fiscal, social and psychological factors.

Dealing with Multicollinearity in Factor Analysis: The Problem, Detections, and Solutions

Multicollinearity in factor analysis has negative effects, including unreliable factor structure, inconsistent loadings, inflated standard errors, reduced discriminant validity, and difficulties in interpreting factors. It also leads to reduced stability, hindered factor replication, misinterpretation of factor importance, increased parameter estimation instability, reduced power to detect the true factor structure, compromised model fit indices, and biased factor loadings. Multicollinearity introduces uncertainty, complexity, and limited generalizability, hampering factor analysis. To address multicollinearity, researchers can examine the correlation matrix to identify variables with high correlation coefficients. The Variance Inflation Factor (VIF) measures the inflation of regression coefficients due to multicollinearity. Tolerance, the reciprocal of VIF, indicates the proportion of variance in a predictor variable not shared with others. Eigenvalues help assess multicollinearity, with values greater than 1 suggesting the retention of factors. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) reduces dimensionality and identifies highly correlated variables. Other diagnostic measures include the condition number and Cook’s distance. Researchers can center or standardize data, perform variable filtering, use PCA instead of factor analysis, employ factor scores, merge correlated variables, or apply clustering techniques for the solution of the multicollinearity problem. Further research is needed to explore different types of multicollinearity, assess method effectiveness, and investigate the relationship with other factor analysis issues.
