Structural Ultrafine Grained Steels Obtained by Advanced Controlled Rolling

Steels with ultrafine grains （lower than 5 μm）, which usually known as ultrafine ferrite or ultrafine grained materials, are presently the object of intense research, because of the improvement in resistance and fracture toughness they may reach compared to conventional steels （with grain sizes above this value）. It is shown that the forenamed steels designated in the Euronorm EN 10149-2, which are manufactured by advanced techniques of controlled rolling and mainly used in automotive industry, have an ultrafine grain size in the range of 2.5 to 3.5 μm, and with elastic yield stresses higher than 400 MPa. Based on the Morrison-Miller criterion, it is shown that values of the strain-hardening coefficient lower than 0.08 would make the industrial application of these steels unfeasible.

Galtung （1998a） held that there are two ways of covering a conflict： the low road and the high road; each road is different in focus. The first is called war journalism and the second is called peace journalism. Based on this, a specialized journalism model on conflict coverage was created： peace journalism. The principles and actions of this model could be used to analyze the making of news that responds to the criteria of peace journalism. In other words, they can be applied in two separate ways, either as tools for the analysis of information on conflicts or as guidelines to create new information. This article focuses on the first approach, the content analysis, to determine if the analyzed news is oriented to either War journalism or peace journalism, according to what peace journalism proposes. The author cares about how the ideology influence in this point. The author analyzed three major newspapers, on its online version： The New York Times, USA; La Jornada, M6xico, and El Mundo, Spain. The first two could be considered left-wing newspapers and the last one is right-wing oriented. The issues covered by the newspapers were the Mexican government war against drugs principally, and issues related with the war against drugs in the world. The results show that the newspaper who scored best and was located within the standards of peace journalism is El Mundo.

In keeping with a view that is explicitly formulated by Aristotle in his Motion of Animals, general kinetic principles must be specified according to the different types of movable entities existing in the universe. At issue, essentially, are the motions of the stars and the motions of animals. Whereas the cosmological immovable mover is the object of two complementary analyses （in Bk. Ⅷ of Physics and in Chs. 6 and 7 of Bk. Ⅻ of Metaphysics）, information on the immovability of the first mover responsible for animal motion is to be found in the psychological and psycho-physiological treatises （On the Soul, in Bk. Ⅰ, Chs. 3 and 4, and in Bk. Ⅲ, Ch. 10 and in Ch. 6 of the Motion of Animals）. But it is also found in Ch. 7, Bk. Ⅻ of the Metaphysics, in the very context of the argument concerning the absolutely first immovable mover of the world. This suggests that the two types of motion, that of the stars and that of animals, however distinct the arguments about them are, rest on a single scheme, and maybe even on a common principle. This is liable to surprise us, as much as stars and animals appear to us to belong to heterogeneous orders of reality. But the situation is different for Aristotle, who, as attentive as he is to differences, tends nonetheless to conceive the stars as living things of a particular kind. This fact is the source of a series of difficulties that Aristotle generously left for his many commentators to solve. Aim of this text, which was initially directed to a larger audience, is to set some of these complex issues in both simple and up to date terms.

In additive manufacturing(also known as 3D printing),a layer-by-layer buildup process is used for manufacturing *** laser 3D printers can work with various materials including metal *** particular,mixing various-sized spherical powders of titanium alloys is considered most promising for the aerospace *** achieve desired mechanical properties of the final product,it is necessary to maintain a certain proportional ratio between different powder *** this paper,a modeling approach for filling up a rectangular 3D volume by unequal spheres in a layer-by-layer manner is proposed.A relative number of spheres of a given radius(relative frequency)are known and have to be fulfilled in the final packing.A fast heuristic has been developed to solve this special packing *** results are compared with experimental findings for titanium alloy spherical *** relative frequencies obtained by using the imposed algorithm are very close to those obtained by the *** provides an opportunity for using a cheap numerical modeling instead of expensive experimental study.

Objective: To know the natural history of the first wave of pandemic influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 in the Southern hemisphere, through the detection of antibodies against influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 in a selected community, to estimate the population attack rate and its variations, the consultation rates, hospitallization and mortality rates. Methodology: A representative random sample of the population of a commune in Chile (San Felipe) was interviewed and taken blood samples between January and March 2010. A study against the antibodies of the influenza A(H1N1) pdm09 virus was conducted, by the technique of the Hemaglutination Inhibition (HAI) according to standardized methodology. Subjects with antibody titers ≥1:40 were considered positive. Results: 13.5% of the population of San Felipe had antibodies against influenza A(H1N1)pdm09;this percentage reached 30% of the population between 0 and 18 years and 6.1% among those over 19 years. The age variable was the only factor that evidenced significant differences in the prevalence of antibodies. There were no significant differences related to gender, vaccination history against seasonal inluenza, or comorbidity. 51% of people with positive serology showed IN-FLUENZA-LIKE SYMPTOMS. Conclusions: A relevant percentage of subclinical disease was detected in the first pandemic wave in Chile and the proportion of people with SARI and deaths was small. Data from epidemiological surveillance were useful to estimate the trend of TSI but not its magnitude.

Are Functional Foods Marketed in Honduras a Healthy Option?

Background: Functional foods have been proposed as vehicles to prevent diseases in response to disease increase throughout the world. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study. The nutritional labeling of processed functional foods (PFF) commercially available in Honduras was examined to consider health benefits based on functionality according to the Central American Technical Regulation (CATR) and critical nutrient content according to the profile of the panamerican Health Organization (PAHO). Results: Out of a national sample of 631 commercial processed foods (CPF), 144 were defined as functional;sweetened and flavored yogurts and cereal bars reached the highest proportions (70% and 66%) of products available in their respective categories. None of the categories was on average “low in calories” according to criteria of CATR;sweetened breakfast cereals were the most caloric (180 kcal) and only sweetened juices had “calorie free” products (15%). Prepared meat did not meet the criterion of “low cholesterol” even though all the products in this category were the reduced fat version of the original CPF. All categories of cereal-based products met the “source of dietary fiber” criteria and 64% of baked products were “high in dietary fiber”. More than 70% of PFF exceeded the sugar recommendation of the PAHO profile, mainly sweetened breakfast cereals (100%) and sweetened juices (93%). 49% of the products exceeded the sodium recommendation, particularly baked products (100%) and cheeses (86%);100% of the later exceeded the recommendation of total fats. More than 60% of products simultaneously exceeded between 2 and 3 of PAHO profile criteria;5% exceeded all the criteria and 4% met all the PAHO profile criteria. The average price of PFF was $2.34, while that of conventional products was $1.87;sweetened breakfast cereals were the most expensive ($3.49 and $3.28) and sweetened juices were the cheapest ($1.79 and $1.89) for both CPF and PFF.
