Interfacial Zn2+-solvation regulator towards reversible and stable Zn anode

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries （AZIBs） are fundamentally challenged by the instability of the electrode/electrolyte interface,predominantly due to irreversible zinc （Zn） deposition and hydrogen ***,the intricate mechanisms behind the electrochemical discrepancies induced by interfacial Zn2+-solvation and deposition behavior demand comprehensive *** molecules endowed with special functional groups （such as hydroxyl,carboxyl,etc.） have the potential to significantly optimize the solvation structure of Zn2+and regulate the interfacial electric double layer （EDL）.By increasing nucleation overpotential and decreasing interfacial free energy,these functional groups facilitate a lower critical nucleation radius,thereby forming an asymptotic nucleation model to promote uniform Zn ***,this study presents a pioneering approach by introducing trace amounts of n-butanol as solvation regulators to engineer the homogenized Zn （H-Zn） anode with a uniform and dense *** interfacial reaction and structure evolution are explored by in/ex-situ experimental techniques,indicating that the H-Zn anode exhibits dendrite-free growth,no by-products,and weak hydrogen evolution,in sharp contrast to the bare ***,the H-Zn anode achieves a remarkable Zn utilization rate of approximately 20% and simultaneously sustains a prolonged cycle life exceeding 500 ***,the H-Zn//NH4V4O10（NVO） full battery showcases exceptional cycle stability,retaining 95.04%capacity retention after 400 cycles at a large current density of 5 A *** study enlightens solvation-regulated additives to develop Zn anode with superior utilization efficiency and extended operational lifespan.

Different Diffusion Behavior of Cu and Ni Undergoing Liquidesolid Electromigration

The diffusion behavior of Cu and Ni atoms undergoing liquidesolid electromigration（L-S EM） was investigated using Cu/Sn/Ni interconnects under a current density of 5.0 103A/cm2 at 250℃. The flowing direction of electrons significantly influences the cross-solder interaction of Cu and Ni atoms, i.e., under downwind diffusion, both Cu and Ni atoms can diffuse to the opposite interfaces; while under upwind diffusion,Cu atoms but not Ni atoms can diffuse to the opposite interface. When electrons flow from the Cu to the Ni, only Cu atoms diffuse to the opposite anode Ni interface, resulting in the transformation of interfacial intermetallic compound（IMC） from Ni3Sn4into（Cu,Ni）6Sn5and further into [（Cu,Ni）6Sn5t Cu6Sn5], while no Ni atoms diffuse to the opposite cathode Cu interface and thus the interfacial Cu6Sn5 *** electrons flow from the Ni to the Cu, both Cu and Ni atoms diffuse to the opposite interfaces,resulting in the interfacial IMC transformation from initial Cu6Sn5into（Cu,Ni）6Sn5and further into[（Cu,Ni）6Sn5t（Ni,Cu）3Sn4] at the anode Cu interface while that from initial Ni3Sn4into（Cu,Ni）6Sn5and further into（Ni,Cu）3Sn4at the cathode Ni interface. It is more damaging with electrons flowing from the Cu to the Ni than the other way.

Effect of Zn addition in Sn-rich alloys on interfacial reaction with Au foils

To restrain the formation of AuSnx intermetallic components (IMCs) in solder joints, Zn was added into Sn-rich solders. The solder joints were fabricated by a laser reflow soldering method, and then they were aged at 125 ℃. The results show that the total thickness of AuSnx IMCs at the interface of pure Sn solder and Au foils reaches about 54 μm under the condition of 600 h aging. In Sn-1.5Zn solder joints, however, formation of AuSn4 IMCs is restrained greatly. As the content of Zn in the solder is increased to 3.5%(mass fraction), no AuSn4 IMC is observed at the interface. Au-Zn phases form beside AuSn2 and AuSn IMCs layers. As for Sn-9.0Zn solder joints, Au-Zn and Au-Zn-Sn phases and few AuSnx IMCs form at the interface. Moreover, total thickness of the phases and IMCs is far less than that of AuSnx IMCs in the pure Sn solder joints.

Synthesis and characterization of soluble intrinsic black polyimide with excellent comprehensive properties

Black polyimides(BPIs)have attracted increasing attention owing to their growing demand in ***,commonly used black polyimides doped with black fillers suffer from poor mechanical and electrical *** address these issues,a new diamine(2,5-bis(4′-amino-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)-3,4-bis(4-fluorophenyl)cyclopenta-2,4-dien-1-one,TPCPFPDA)bearing a tetraphenylcyclopentadienone(TPCP)moiety bonded with benzene and fluorine units was *** diamine was reacted with 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride(6FDA)to yield a soluble intrinsic black polyimide(TPCPFPPI).Bonding fluorine(auxochrome group)and benzene units to TPCP can increase the conjugation ofπ-electrons systems and facilitate the movement of electron throughout the bigπbond,*** to the structural features,the synthesized TPCPFPPI exhibited complete visible-light absorption with high blackness and *** cutoff wavelength(λ_(cut))and CIE(Commission Internationale de I′Eclairage)parameter L^(*)were 684 nm and 1.33,***,TPCPFPPI displayed exceptional electrical,mechanical,and thermal properties as well as excellent solubility.A detailed theoretical calculation was conducted to gain better insight into the electronic properties of the *** showed that the blackness of TPCPFPPI was chiefly attributed to the electron transition from highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO)to lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO)in the diamines,where the charges primarily migrated from the aryl groups in the 2-and 5-positions to the cyclopentadienone *** as-obtained intrinsic BPI(TPCPFPPI),exhibiting both high solubility and outstanding overall properties,has important applications in photo-electronics.

In-situ construction of MnCO_(3)@CNTs nanosheets for high-capacity aqueous zinc ion batteries

Owing to severe agglomeration of manganese carbonate(MnCO_(3))during its synthesis,it exhibits rapid decay cycle performance when used as a cathode material in aqueous zinc ion *** overcome this drawback,we synthesized a MnCO_(3)material with carbon nanotubes(CNTs)(i.e.,MnCO_(3)@CNTs)via a one-step solvothermal method using a hybrid modification ***_(3)nanospheres were grown in-situ on a two-dimensional(2D)plane that was orderly interwoven by tubular single fibers of carbon to form a leaf-like nanosheet *** surface area of the MnCO_(3)@CNTs material was enlarged enormously through the special nanosheet structure,and its stability was improved by the supporting structure of the *** a result,the MnCO_(3)@CNTs exhibited a discharge capacity of 247.6 mAh g^(-1)at a current density of 0.1 A g^(-1).The energy storage mechanism of MnCO_(3)@CNTs was further explored using a series of electrochemical kinetic analyses and ex-situ characterization *** modification method not only broadens the application field of MnCO_(3),but also provides the possibility of modifying more cathode materials.

Assembling Tunable Time-Resolved Fluorescence Layer onto Nano-Gold

The assembling of a coating of time-resolved fluorescent chelator BSPDA （ abbreviated for 4, 7-bis （ sulfhydrylphenyl）-1, 10-phenanthroline-2, 9-dicarboxylic acid） onto a nano-gold layer was demonstrated. First, BSPDA was synthesized by simple procedures, and then an approach was developed to immobilize BSPDA onto the nano-gold layer deposited on a silane modified glass substrate, whereby europium ion （Ⅲ, Eu^3＋） was captured and released owing to the interactive process of complexation and dissociation between BSPDA functionalized coating and Eu^3＋ solution. The fluorescence spectra and related lifetimes were determined. Also, the BSPDA functionalized coating＇s specific complexation with Eu^3＋ on the BSPDA assembly layer and the nonspecific adsorption of Eu^3＋ on the nano-gold layer were compared. These results allowed a selective complexation of Eu^3＋ by assembling a BSPDA chelating layer on the nano-gold layer; thus, a tunable time-resolved fluorescent layer was covalently attached, The results of the nanoparticle assembling and probing （or labeling） processes to specific bio-systems were very interesting and had significant implications to time-resolved-fluorescence-based detection on biosensor surfaces such as DNA chip and to arrayed light display devices.

The average transient lifetime of a chaotic transient versus the Lyapunov dimension of a chaotic saddle is studied for high-dimensional nonlinear dynamical systems. Typically the average lifetime depends upon not only the system parameter but also the Lyapunov dimension of the chaotic saddle. The numerical example uses the delayed feedback differential equation.

SYNTHESIS OF AROMATIC DIAMINE-BASED BENZOXAZINES AND EFFECT OF THEIR BACKBONE STRUCTURE ON THERMAL AND FLAMMABILITY PROPERTIES OF POLYMERS

Three kinds of novel aromatic diamine-based benzoxazines containing naphthalene, propane-2,2-diyldibenzene and neopentyl groups in the backbone, respectively （designated as BAPNCP, BAPBACP and BAPNPGCP, respectively）, were synthesized and characterized. In addition, the effects of backbone structures on curing behaviors of the monomers and thermal and flammability properties of the resulting polymers were systematically studied. The results indicated that BAPNPGCP displayed the highest enthalpy of the curing reaction associated with the ring-opening of benzoxazine, which was due to the effect of benzoxazine ring content per unit mass. Interestingly, the 5 wt% weight loss temperature and char residue after thermogravimetric test for poly（BAPNPGCP） were 8 ℃ and 7% higher than those of poly（BAPBACP）. Meanwhile, the total heat release of poly（BAPNPGCP） was less than half of that for poly（BAPBACP）, indicating the substantial effect of benzoxazine ring content on flammability and char formation. Furthermore, it was found that poly（BAPNCP） gave the best thermal stability and flame retardancy, which was due to the synergistic effect between naphthalene group and benzoxazine ring content. This study provides new insight into the curing behavior of benzoxazine and further understanding on the high performance of polybenzoxazine.

Modification of mechanical properties by TiO_2 nano-particle for biodegradable materials made from palm oil sludge and activated sludge cake

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nano-particle is widely used in composite materials to its improved mechanical ***2 nano-particle was used in the composite material that consists of palm oil sludge from the palm oil production and activated sludge cake from a papermaking ***2 was synthesized by a hydrolysis of titanium *** parameter was investigated by the mole ratio of reactant to different solvents (isopropanol and isobutanol).The solution was prepared by adjusting pH to acid solution,resulting in different sizes and distributions of precipitate which was heated at different *** obtained samples were then morphologically and structurally characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and particle size distribution (PSD).The experimental results show that the TiO2 sample from isopropanol solvent with heated temperature of 600 °C exhibits the best ***,different mass fractions of TiO2 (0,0.5%,1.0%,2.0%,4.0% and 8.0%) were used for specimens that were made from palm oil sludge mixed with activated sludge *** samples were later characterized by 3-point bending test and compression *** results indicate that the adding 0.5% and 1.0% TiO2 particles to the composite material outperforms the other fractions in terms of enhancing mechanical ***,mechanical properties tends to decrease when adding 2.0% TiO2.

Nanomaterial-based optical indicators: Promise, opportunities, and challenges in the development of colorimetric systems for intelligent packaging

The market and the future trends of smart packaging show a tendency towards a continuous increase. Several reports have revealed about the increase of consumer concern for food quality and safety, which gives rise to the demand of intelligent packaging. Nano-enabled food packaging has attracted considerable interest and driven a variety of potential applications in the intelligent packaging. The presence of nanomaterials as nanodevices or nanosensors has been recognized as a part of the modern intelligent packaging for monitoring the condition of packaged food or the environment surrounding the product. Among of nanosensors, optical indicator has been widely applied in the market due to the convenient and easy to use. The utilization of nanomaterial such as metal nanoparticles or photonic nanocrystals shows superior performance in novel communicative functions than the traditional colorimetric indicator because of their unique optical properties and high surface reactivity. This review focuses exclusively on ongoing scientific research and recent technological breakthroughs related to nanotechnology-derived colorimetric indicators. The challenges of their application are highlighted and discussed to provide adequate information for future development.
