In order to obtain Mg alloys with fine microstructures and high mechanical performances,a novel friction-based processing method,name as“constrained friction processing(CFP)”,was *** CFP,defect-free Mg-Zn-Ca rods with greatly refined grains and high mechanical properties were *** to the previous as-cast microstructure,the grain size was reduced from more than 1 mm to around 4μm within 3 s by a single process *** compressive yield strength was increased by 350%while the ultimate compressive strength by 53%.According to the established material flow behaviors by“tracer material”,the plastic material was transported by shear *** the base material to the rod,the material experienced three stages,*** by the tool,upward flow with additional tilt,followed by upward *** microstructural evolution was revealed by“stop-action”*** microstructural development at regions adjacent to the rod is mainly controlled by twinning,dynamic recrystallization(DRX)as well as particle stimulated nucleation,while that within the rod is related to DRX combined with grain growth.

Observation of Non-Local Transport Phenomena with SMBI in HL-2A

The non-local transport phenomenon induced by supersonic molecular beam injection （SMBI） was first observed in the HL-2A tokomak. In comparison with the phenomena induced by other methods in various tokamaks, it has its own feature： the effect induced by SMBI in HL-2A lasts much longer than that induced by pellet injection in other similar size tokomaks. Both the bolometer radiation and He emission decrease when the non-local effect appears. This suggests that an electron transport barrier has been formed at the position just outside the q = 1 surface when the non-local effect appears.

Stability of Tokamak Equilibrium with Internal Transport Barrier against High-n MHD Ballooning Mode

A new eigen-mode equation for the tokamak high-n （the toroidal mode number） ideal magnetohydrodynamic （MHD） ballooning mode in tokamak plasmas is derived to include the toroidal effects that are significant for stability of configurations with internal transport barriers （ITBs）, Fot tokamak equilibria of shift circular flux surfaces, these toroidal effects basically are the finite inverse aspect ratio and the Shafranov shift. The former yields the averaged favorable curvature stabilization while the latter further strengthens this effect, leading to a low shear stable channel connecting the first and second stability regions, and to the shrinkage of unstable region in the （8,α） diagram. The dependence of the critical shear, below which the plasma is stable, on these effects is given. These results are important for understanding the ITB physics to some regards.

New Levels in ^118Pd Observed in the β Decay of Very Neutron-Rich ^118Rh Isotope

We investigate the β decay of very neutron-rich ^118Rh isotope using on-line mass-separated sources which are produced by applying 25 MeV proton induced symmetric fission of natural uranium at the IGISOL facility. The β-γ and γ-γ coincidence spectroscopy is employed to establish the level scheme of daughter nucleus ^118Pd. Five low-lying new levels are identified for the first time with tentative spin and parity assignments based on the even-mass Pd systematics.

From the dynamical equation of barotropic relaxing media beneath pressure perturbations, and using the reductive perturbative analysis, we investigate the soliton structure of a （1＋1）-dimensional nonlinear partial differential evolution （NLPDE） equation δy（δη ＋ uδy ＋（u^2/2）δy）u ＋ auy ＋ u = 0, describing high-frequency regime of perturbations. Thus, by means of Hirota＇s bilinearization method, three typical solutions depending strongly upon a characteristic dissipation parameter are unearthed.

A novel computational screening study of single transition metal(TM),TM-doped,and dual TMs-doped on CdS(110)surfaces via DFT calculations is presented,focusing on their stability and catalytic activity,searching for efficient photocatalysts for hydrogen *** based on key performance descriptors allowed to fine-tune the *** indicate that TM dopants can reduce the energy band gap and enhance impurity ***,Rh,and Pd were found to be the best dopants in TM-doped CdS,since their|ΔG_(H)|is 80%smaller compared to the pristine CdS ***,TM1-TM2-co-doped CdS catalysts show better performance for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)due to synergistic effects of the two TMs,where Co-Pt,Pd-Pt and Co-Rh co-doping CdS significantly reduced|ΔGH|to less than 0.1 *** point out four promising novel co-catalysts(i.e.,Co,Co-Pt,Co-Rh,Rh-Ag)with very good performance in HER,to be further explored in experimental studies.

A power Interruption Technique for Investigation of Temperature Difference in Stabilized Low Direct-Current Arc Burning in Pure Argon-on Atmospheric Pressure

Plasma of argon stabilized arc column, in a current range 3-11 A, is investigated using emission spectrometric diagnostic techniques. Temperatures are evaluated using several methods： argon line to adjacent recombinational continuum intensity ratio, absolute emissivity of argon line, measurement of electron number density, and power interruption. Electron number density is evaluated from absolute emissivity of recombinational continuum. The difference between electron Te and heavy particle Th temperature ranged from 4500 K for 3 A to 2300 K for 11A arc current. By comparing the present with the previously obtained results, using the same arc device but with the introduction of water aerosol, it is concluded that water aerosol reduces the difference Te - Th and brings plasma closer to the partial thermodynamic equilibrium state.

Optimal nitrogen fertilization of boreal conifer forest

The power Supply System for HL-2A Tokamak's Magnetic Field

The highpower pulsed power supply system for the magnetic field of the HL-2A Tokamak is described in this paper. The total output power of its eight magnetic field power supply units of nearly 250 MW. Their highest DC output voltage and current are 3510 V and 45 kA, respectively. All the units are operated in a pulsed mode. The pulse duration is 5 s, and the cyclic period is 15 min. The power supply system consists mainly of pulsed flywheel motor generators, rectifying transformers, thyristor converters, diode rectifiers and switches. The system incorporates many key technologies-supply equalization with two generators and four diode bridges, constant-angle phase triggers with a wide frequency range, current equalization, a status detector for the high current 6-phase converter, and advanced monitoring based on a programmable logic computer and engineering parameter measurement. The experimental results show that the performance of the power supply system satisfies the requirements of HL-2A experiments very well.

Which type of forest management provides most ecosystem services？

Background： Forest ecosystems are increasingly seen as multi-functional production systems, which should provide, besides timber and economic benefits, also other ecosystem services related to biological diversity, recreational uses and environmental functions of forests. This study analyzed the performance of even-aged rotation forest management （RFM）, continuous cover forestry （CCF） and any-aged forestry （AAF） in the production of ecosystem services. AAF allows both even-aged and uneven-aged management schedules. The ecosystem services included in the analyses were net present value, volume of harvested timber, cowberry and bilberry yields, scenic value of the forest, carbon balance and suitability of the forest to Siberian jay. Methods： Data envelopment analysis was used to derive numerical efficiency ratios for the three management systems. Efficiency ratio is the sum of weighted outputs （ecosystem services） divided by the sum of weighted inputs. The linear programing model proposed by Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes was used to derive the weights for calculating efficiency scores for the silvicultural systems. Results and conclusions： CCF provided more ecosystem services than RFM, and CCF was more efficient than RFM and AAF in the production of ecosystem services. Multi-objective management provided more ecosystem services （except harvested timber） than single-objective management that maximized economic profitability. The use of low discount rate （resulting in low cutting level and high growing stock volume） led to better supply of most ecosystems services than the use of high discount rate. RFM where NPV was maximized with high discount rate led to particularly poor provision of most ecosystem services. In CCF the provision of ecosystem services was less sensitive to changes in discount rate and management objective than in RFM.
