Nonlinear relationship between urban form and transport CO_(2)emissions:Evidence from Chinese cities based on machine learning

Reducing carbon emissions from the transport sector is essential for realizing the carbon neutrality goal in *** substantial studies on the influence of urban form on transport cO_(2)emissions,most of them have treated the effects as a linear process,and few have studied their nonlinear *** research focused on 274 Chinese cities in 2019 and applied the gradient-boosting decision tree(GBDT)model to investigate the nonlinear effects of four aspects of urban form,including compactness,complexity,scale,and fragmentation,on urban transport CO_(2)*** was found that urban form contributed 20.48%to per capita transport CO_(2)emissions(pTCEs),which is less than the contribution of socioeconomic development but more than that of transport *** contribution of urban form to total transport CO_(2)emissions(TCEs)was the lowest,at 14.3%.In particular,the effect of compactness on TCEs was negative within a threshold,while its effect on pTCEs showed an inverted U-shaped *** effect of complexity on pTCEs was positive,and its effect on TCEs was *** effect of scale on TCEs and pTCEs was positive within a threshold and negative beyond that *** effect of fragmentation on TCEs was also nonlinear,while its effect on pTCEs was positively *** results show the complex effects of the urban form on transport CO_(2)***,strategies for optimizing urban form and reducing urban transport carbon emissions are recommended for the future.

Signifying quantum uncertainty relations by optimal observable sets and the tightest uncertainty constants

Quantum uncertainty relations constrain the precision of measurements across multiple non-commuting quantum mechanical observables. Here, we introduce the concept of optimal observable sets and define the tightest uncertainty constants to accurately describe these measurement uncertainties. For any quantum state, we establish optimal sets of three observables for both product and summation forms of uncertainty relations, and analytically derive the corresponding tightest uncertainty constants. We demonstrate that the optimality of these sets remains consistent regardless of the uncertainty relation form. Furthermore, the existence of the tightest constants excludes the validity of standard real quantum mechanics, underscoring the essential role of complex numbers in this field. Additionally, our findings resolve the conjecture posed in [phys. Rev. Lett. 118, 180402(2017)],offering novel insights and potential applications in understanding preparation uncertainties.

Intravascular photoacoustic and optical coherence tomography imaging dual-mode system for detecting spontaneous coronary artery dissection: A feasibility study

In this work,we present an intravascular dual-mode endoscopic system capable of both intravascular photoacoustic imaging(IVpAI)and intravascular optical coherence tomography(IVOCT)for recognizing spontaneous coronary artery dissection(SCAD)*** provides high-resolution and high-penetration images of intramural hematoma(IMH)at different depths,so it is especially useful for imaging deep blood clots associated with imaging *** can readily visualize the double-lumen morphology of blood vessel walls to identify intimal *** also demonstrate the capability of this dual-mode endoscopic system using mimicking phantoms and biological samples of blood clots in ex vivo porcine *** results of the experiments indicate that the combined IVpAI and IVOCT technique has the potential to provide a more accurate SCAD assessment method for clinical applications.

Discriminative explicit instance selection for implicit discourse relation classification

Discourse relation classification is a fundamental task for discourse analysis,which is essential for understanding the structure and connection of *** discourse relation classification aims to determine the relationship between adjacent sentences and is very challenging because it lacks explicit discourse connectives as linguistic cues and sufficient annotated training *** this paper,we propose a discriminative instance selection method to construct synthetic implicit discourse relation data from easy-to-collect explicit discourse *** expanded instance consists of an argument pair and its sense *** introduce the argument pair type classification task,which aims to distinguish between implicit and explicit argument pairs and select the explicit argument pairs that are most similar to natural implicit argument pairs for data *** also propose a simple label-smoothing technique to assign robust sense labels for the selected argument *** evaluate our method on pDTB 2.0 and pDTB *** results show that our method can consistently improve the performance of the baseline model,and achieve competitive results with the state-of-the-art models.

Examining the Spatiotemporal Dynamics and Determinants of Land Urbanization in prefecture-level Cities,China

Examining the spatiotemporal dynamics and determinants of land urbanization is critical for promoting healthy urban development and the rational use of land *** on the dataset consisting of land use change data and selected factors in 2010 and2020,this study used visual analysis to reveal the spatiotemporal dynamics of land urbanization across prefecture-level cities in ***,the driving forces underlying land urbanization were examined by using geographical detector *** are the findings:1)we find that there exist notable spatial variances in land urbanization across prefecture-level ***,the differentiation in land urbanization between the northern and southern cities is more pronounced than that between the coastal and inland cities,or between the eastern and western ***-level cities located in central and western China have experienced the most rapid growth in land ***,the growth rate in northeastern China is the lowest,while the velocity in eastern China remains relatively *** using spatial autocorrelation analysis,this study reveals that the land urbanization level in prefecture-level cities has significant spatial agglomeration.2)We further find that land urbanization in China is influenced by factors related to urban land supply and demand,and urban population growth,economic growth,land financial and political incentive have greater impact on land urbanization than other factors.3)We also find that the impacts of determinants on China’s land urbanization vary over time,the explanatory power of economic development increased,while the explanatory power of state forces *** argue that integrating the supply and demand factors of land urbanization can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the driving mechanisms underlying land urbanization in China and other transitional countries,and help decision-makers in these countries formulate more detailed and specif

Extending Structures for Gel'fand-Dorfman Bialgebras

Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebra,which is both a Lie algebra and a Novikov algebra with some compatibility condition,appeared in the study of Hamiltonian pairs in completely integrable *** also emerged in the description of a class special Lie conformal algebras called quadratic Lie conformal *** this paper,we investigate the extending structures problem for Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebras,which is equivalent to some extending structures problem of quadratic Lie conformal ***,given a Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebra(A,o,[.,.]),this problem is how to describe and classify all Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebra structures on a vector space E(A⊂E)such that(A,o,[.,.])is a subalgebra of E up to an isomorphism whose restriction on A is the identity *** by the theories of extending structures for Lie algebras and Novikov algebras,we construct an object gH2(V,A)to answer the extending structures problem by introducing the notion of a unified product for Gel'fand-Dorfman bialgebras,where V is a complement of A in *** particular,we investigate the special case when dim(V)=1 in detail.

probing the peripheral self-generated magnetic field distribution in laser-plasma magnetic reconnection with Martin-puplett interferometer polarimeter

Magnetic reconnection of the self-generated magnetic fields in laser-plasma interaction is an important laboratory method for modeling high-energy density astronomical and astrophysical *** use the Martin-puplett interferometer(MpI)polarimeter to probe the peripheral magnetic fields generated in the common magnetic reconnection configuration,two separated coplanar plane targets,in laser-target *** introduce a new method that can obtain polarization information from the interference pattern instead of the sinusoidal function fitting of the intensity.A bidirectional magnetic field is observed from the side view,which is consistent with the magneto-hydro-dynamical(MHD)simulation results of self-generated magnetic field *** find that the cancellation of reverse magnetic fields after averaging and integration along the observing direction could reduce the magnetic field strength by one to two orders of *** indicates that imaging resolution can significantly affect the accuracy of measured magnetic field strength.

Design of Low-power Turbo Encoder and Decoder for NB-IoT

Turbo code is an error correction coding scheme close to the Shannon limit, usually used in wireless data transmission. Based on the parallel Turbo code algorithm, a parallel Turbo code circuit design scheme is *** the encoder, the recursive systematic convolutional encoder is multiplexed. The decoder is divided into branch metric, recursive, maximum likelihood ratio, and external information calculation modules. The decoding algorithm is based on Max-Log-MAp, controlling the component decoder in parallel. And the state metric calculation in the decoding circuit is combined to reduce the overall power consumption effectively, enabling the encoder and decoder to be used in narrowband Internet of things(NB-IoT). Finally, the hardware scheme of the main functional modules of Turbo code encoding and decoding is designed and implemented. The results show that the dynamic power consumption is less than 50 m W. The overall on-chip power consumption is reduced by 40% at the frequency of 125 MHz compared with previous jobs.
