Seismic Performance Assessment of a Conventional Multi-storey Building

Recent earthquakes have revealed that conventional seismic design philosophy allows for large levels of nonstructural damage. Nonstructural earthquake damage results in extensive repair costs and lengthy functional disruptions, as nonstructural systems comprise the majority of building investment and are essential to building operations. A better understanding of the expected overall seismic performance of code-compliant buildings is needed. This study investigates the seismic performance of a conventional building. A 16-storey steel office building was designed using a modern seismic structural code(Eurocode 8). This study is the first to assess in detail the substantial earthquake repair costs expected in a modern Eurocode concentric braced frame structure, considering nonstructural systems with the FEMA P-58 procedure. The breakdown of total repair costs by engineering demand parameter and by fragility group is novel. The seismic performance assessment indicated that substantial earthquake repair costs are expected. Limitations of the Eurocode nonstructural damage methodology were revealed in a novel manner using FEMA P-58, as the prescribed drift limits did not minimize nonstructural repair costs. These findings demonstrate the need for design procedures that improve nonstructural seismic performance. The study results provide a benchmark on which to evaluate retrofit alternatives for existing buildings and design options for new structures.

联盟结构合作对策一般涉及两个层次合作:局中人先组成小联盟,然后再以小联盟整体参与大联盟的合作。由于一带一路倡议中小联盟群体参与合作项目往往话语权有限,容易处于收益分配的劣势,从而影响参与合作项目的积极性,因而有必要对联盟结构合作对策及其求解方法做进一步的研究。基于此,我们首先构造一种能够考虑小联盟规模对合作影响的新求解方法——加权Owen值。然后,基于联盟结构合作对策与加权Owen值刻画一带一路倡议下的多层次、复杂交叉的合作关系,获得各个单位参与跨境合作项目可能的收益分配范围及性质。最后,通过算例演示了联盟结构合作对策分配策略的计算方法。因此,基于加权Owen值计算各个单位参与跨境合作项目可能的收益分配范围,为跨境合作的大项目提供一定的决策依据。

This study was designed to investigate the molecular epidemiology of mobile colistin resistance(mcr)using a"One-Health"approach in Laos and to predict whether any dominant plasmid backbone and/or strain type influences the dissemination of *** collected 673 samples from humans(rectal normal flora),poultry,and the environment(water,flies,birds,etc.)in Vientiane,Lao People’s Democratic Republic(Laos),from May to September 2018.A total of 238 Escherichia coli(***)isolated from nonduplicative samples,consisting of 98 MCR-positive ***(MCRPEC)("mcr"denotes the gene encoding mobile colistin resistance,and"MCR"denotes the subsequent protein encoded by mcr)and 140 MCRnegative ***(MCRNEC),were characterized by phenotype and Illumina sequencing.A subset of MCRPEC was selected for Min ION sequencing,conjugation assay,plasmid stability,and growth kinetics in *** prevalence of MCRPEC was found to be 14.6%(98/673),with the highest prevalence in human rectal swabs(45.9%(45/98),pds ratio(OR):0.125,95% confidence interval(CI):0.077-0.202).The percentages of MCRPEC from other samples were 14.3%(2/14)in dog feces,12.0%(24/200)in flies,11.0%(11/100)in chicken meat,8.9%(8/90)in chicken cloacal,8.0%(4/50)in chicken caeca,and 7.5%(4/53)in *** was significantly more resistant to co-amoxiclav,sulfamethoxazoletrimethoprim,levofloxacin,ciprofloxacin,and gentamicin than MCRNEC(p3 were Inc FII,Inc FIA,Inc FIB,Inc P1,and Inc *** of highly similar plasmids from both flies and other sampling sectors implied the role of flies in the dissemination of ***-positive plasmids were shown to be conjugative,and a significantly high transfer rate into a hypervirulent clone ST1193 was *** containing mcr irrespective of Inc type w

PhoR is a histidine kinase in a two-component regulatory system that regulates phosphorus metabolic pathways and undertakes the key mission of information transmission in pathogenic *** full-length phoR gene was successfully cloned from the Vibrio alginolyticus HY9901 strain.A comprehensive analysis of the cloned gene was conducted using *** analysis revealed that the total length of the phoR gene(GenBank accession No.:KJ958404.1)is 1299 bp,with the coding region containing a total of 432 amino acid *** phylogenetic tree of PhoR revealed that it belongs to the same subclade as *** SMART program was employed for the purpose of functional domain prediction,which revealed that PhoR possesses three major functional domains:PAS(amino acids 98-166),HisKA(amino acids 205-272),and HATPase_c(amino acids 317-429).

Gas-solid fluidized beds have found extensive utilization in frontline manufacturing,in particular as low-velocity *** fluidization status,the bubbling or turbulent flow regime and the transition in between,determine the system performance in practical *** the convoluted hydrodynamics are quantitively evaluated through numerous data-processing methodologies,none of them alone can reflect all the critical information to identify the transition from the bubbling to the turbulent ***,this study was to exploit a coupling data processing methodology,in the combination of standard deviation,power spectrum density,probability density function,wavelet transform,and wavelet multiresolution method,to jointly explain the micro-flow structure at the regime transition from bubbling to turbulent *** transient differential pressure fluctuation was measured for the evaluation in a fluidized bed(0.267 m i.d.×2.5 m height)with FCC catalysts(d_(p)=65μm,ρ_(p)=1780kg/m^(3))at different superficial gas velocities(0.02–1.4 m/s).The results show that the onset of turbulent fluidization starts earlier in the top section of the bed than in the bottom *** wavelet decomposition displays that the fluctuation of differential pressure mainly concentrates on the sub-signals with an intermediate frequency *** sub-signals could be synthesized into three types of scales(micro-scale,meso-scale,and macro-scale),representing the multi-scale hydrodynamics in the fluidized *** micro-scale signal has the characteristic information of bubbling fluidization,and the characteristic information of turbulent fluidization is mainly represented by the meso-scale *** work provides a systematic comprehension of fluidization status assessment and serves as an impetus for more coupling analysis in this sector.

Arsenate has high affinity for soluble hydroxy-Fe species and Fe-oxyhydroxide pre-cipitates. In addition, the hydrolysis of Fe(III) and the growth of the initially precipitated Fe(III) phases are strongly influenced by the presence of montmorillonite. In this paper, the adsorption of As onto various hydroxy-Fe-montmorillonite (H-F-M) complexes was studied. Three systems of samples were prepared by mixing montmorillonite, hydroxy-Fe and arsenate in different se-quences: (1) Prior mixing of montmorillonite and hydroxy-Fe before the addition of arsenate; (2) prior mixing of hydroxy-Fe and arsenate before the addition of montmorillonite; and (3) prior mixing of montmorillonite and arsenate before the addition of hydroxy-Fe. For each system, the effects of pH, ionic strength, temperature, initial Fe and As concentrations and adsorption dura-tion on the overall uptake of As by H-F-M complexes were studied. Results showed that the up-take of As increased with increasing pH, temperature, initial Fe concentration and adsorption duration, and decreased with increasing ionic strength and initial As concentration to different extents for the three systems. The variation of the As uptake of H-F-M complexes with pH in the range of study is opposite to that reported previously for Fe-O-H systems in the absence of montmorillonite and similar to that reported for montmorillonite in the absence of hydroxy-Fe. The marked influence of ionic strength on the As uptake of H-F-M complexes indicates that outer-sphere complexation plays an important role. This is quite different from the adsorption of As on the surface of either Fe-oxyhydroxides or montmorillonite alone in which inner-sphere complexation dominates. Under all experimental conditions, the H-F-M complexes studied dis-played a very strong affinity for As, among which system 2 had the highest As adsorption capac-ity and system 1 the lowest.
