Breakout prediction is one of the important techniques of continuous casting. The software and hardware of the breakout prediction system have been upgraded and revamped time after time since slab casters were put into operation at Baosteel, and its performance and technical indexes have been improved remarkably. This paper reviews the development of the breakout prediction technique of the No. 1 Steelmaking Plant at Baosteel. The newly developed BBPS ^Ⅱ is introduced, and the mould mapping system of the No. 4 slab caster is described. The breakout prediction technique is playing an important role in increasing production capability, improving slab quality and decreasing breakout events.

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy of 6 noninvasive liver fibrosis models and to identify the most valuable model for the prediction of liver fibrosis stage in chronic hepatitis B(CHB) ***:Seventy-eight CHB patients were consecutively enrolled in this *** biopsy was performed and blood serum was obtained at *** diagnosis was made according to the METAVIR *** fibrosis was defined as stage score ≥ 2,severe fibrosis as stage score ≥ *** diagnostic accuracy of 6 noninvasive liver fibrosis models,including serum aspartate aminotransferase(AST) to platelet ratio index(APRI),FIB-4,Forn's index,Fibrometer,Hepascore,and Shanghai Liver Fibrosis Group's index(SLFG),was ***:The APRI,FIB-4 and Forn's index under receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC) for sig-nificant fibrosis were 0.71,0.75 and 0.79,respectively,with a diagnosis accuracy of 67%,77% and 80%,respectively,and 0.80,0.87 and 0.86,respectively,under the AUROC for severe *** Hepascore,SLFG,and Fibrometer were 0.80,0.83 and 0.85,respectively under the AUROC for significant fibrosis(P < 0.01).The diagnosis accuracy of Hepascore and SLFG was 86% and 88%,*** Hepascore,SLFG,and Fibrometer were 0.95,0.93,and 0.94,respectively,under the AUROC for severe fibrosis(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:The models containing direct serum markers have a better diagnostic value than those not containing direct serum markers.

The microstructure of squeezing cast Al-7.8Zn-2.0Mg-1.6Cu-0.15Zr-0.18Sc alloy and those after industrial homogenization treatment and multi-stage solution treatments, were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), optical microscopy (OM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (TEM-EDX). The results shows that, by complex adding the micro-alloying elements Mn, Sc, Zr, etc ,the microstructure of squeezing casting ingot are fine, uniform, equiaxed, and with the average sizes of 40 μm. The melting point of the non-equilibrium eutectic is 468 ℃ for the casting ingot. After industrial homogenization treatment at 450 ℃ for 24 h, the tensile strength of as-cast alloy is 340-350 MPa and the elongation is 3.5%-4.5%. The multi-stage solution treatment at 465 ℃, 48 h +475 ℃, 8 h +485 ℃, 2 h results in the disappearance of the non-equilibrium eutectics at grain boundary, though some phases containing Fe and Cu can not dissolve completely. After 120 ℃, 24 h aging treatment, the tensile strength is nearly 600 MPa, and the elongation improve to more than 10%.

BACKGROUND: The safety of donors in living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) should be the primary consideration. The aim of this study was to report our experience in increasing the safety of donors in LDLTs using right lobe grafts. METHODS: We retrospectively studied 37 living donors of right lobe grafts from January 2002 to March 2006. The measures for increasing the safety of donors in LDLT included carefully selected donors, preoperative evaluation by ultrasonography, angiography and computed tomography; and necessary intraoperative cholangiography and ultrasonography. Right lobe grafts were obtained using an ultrasonic dissector without inflow vascular occlusion on the right side of the middle hepatic vein. The standard liver volume and the ratio of left lobe volume to standard liver volume were calculated. RESULTS: There was no donor mortality in our group. Postoperative complications only included bile leakage (I donor), biliary stricture (1) and portal vein thrombosis (1). All donors recovered well and resumed their previous occupations. In recipients, complications included acute rejection (2 patients), hepatic artery thrombosis (1), bile leakage (1), intestinal bleeding (1), left subphrenic abscess (1) and pulmonary infection (1). The mortality rate of recipients was 5.4% (2/37); one recipient with pulmonary infection died from multiple organ failure and another from occurrence of primary disease. CONCLUSIONS: The first consideration in adult-to-adult LDLT is the safety of donors. The donation of a right lobe graft is safe for adults if the remnant hepatic vasculature and bile duct are ensured, and the volume-of the remnant liver exceeds 35% of the total liver volume.

The material selected for this work was the spray formed Vanadis4 high alloy cold working mould steel （abbreviated to V4 steel）. Its microstructure, hot rolling process, and annealing treatment have been investigated. Observed from the optical and electron microscopes, the as-sprayed V4 steel had the finer microstructure of uniform and equiaxial grains ,while after hot rolling for densification and spheroidized annealing, the V4 steel obtained an excellent spheroidized structure that is favorable to subsequent quenching and tempering treatment. The spheroidized structure and level of annealed hardness of the V4 steel are almost the same as expensive imported powder metallurgy the V4 steel. It is difficult to produce V4 steel with the conventional ingot metallurgical technique, so the multi-step and high-cost powder metallurgy method is generally used at present. Compared to the powder metallurgy technique, using the spray forming technique to produce the V4 steel has obvious advantages and potential market competitiveness in reducing production costs, simplifying working process, and shortening the production cycle.

In this paper, the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-Si-Cu-Mg casting alloy under different solution conditions were investigated by optical metallographic and mechanical property test. The results show that the cast alloys were composed of α-Al, primary Si, eutectic Si, Al2Cu and Al7Cu2Fe phases. Three changes took place during solution treatment: Firstly, with the increase of solution temperature and the solution holding time extension, more and more Al2Cu phase was dissolved into the matrix; Secondly, with the increase of solution temperature and the solution holding time extension, morphology of eutectic Si, Al7Cu2Fe and other insoluble phases changed into more round; Thirdly, at the fixed solution temperature, if the solution time extended too long, it would cause grains, eutectic Si and other insoluble phases aggregated and coarsened. About mechanical properties, when the solution time was fixed, the hardness, tensile strength and the yield strength of the Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloy treated by T6 enhanced while the solution temperature increasing, and when the solution temperature was fixed, the ultimate tensile strength and the elongation of the Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloy treated by T6 increased at first and then decreased while the solution time increasing, but the hardness of the alloys affected less by the solution time.
