Coexistence of ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity in a single material is an intriguing phenomenon, but has been rarely found. Here we studied both the ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity in a group of LaCoO3 films with systematically tuned atomic structures. We found that all films exhibit ferroelastic domains with four-fold symmetry and the larger domain size (higher elasticity) is always accompanied by stronger ferromagnetism. We performed synchrotron x-ray diffraction studies to investigate the backbone structure of the CoO6 octahedra, and found that both the ferromagnetism and the elasticity are simultaneously enhanced when the in-plane Co-O-Co bond angles are straightened. Therefore the study demonstrates the inextricable correlation between the ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity mediated through the octahedral backbone structure, which may open up new possibilities to develop multifunctional materials.

The low cycle fatigue (LCF) behavior of two high strength steels, withnominal chemical compositions (mass fraction, %) of 0.40C-1.5Cr-3Ni-0.4Mo-0.2V (PCrNi3MoV) and0.25C-3Cr-3Mo-0.8Ni-0.1Nb (25Cr3Mo3NiNb), was investigated by using the smooth bar specimenssubjected to strained-controlled push-pull loading. It is found that both steels show cyclicsoftening, but 25Cr3Mo3NiNb steel has a lower tendency to cyclic softening. 25Cr3Mo3NiNb steel hashigher fatigue ductility, and its transition fatigue life is almost three times that of PCrNi3MoV.25Cr3Mo3NiNb steel also shows higher LCF life either at a given total strain amplitude above 0.5% orat any given plastic strain amplitude, despite its lower monotonic tensile strength than that ofPCrNi3MoV. It also means that 25Cr3Mo3NiNb steel can endure higher total strain amplitude andplastic strain amplitude at a given number of reversals to failure within 10~4. 25Cr3Mo3NiNb steelis expected to be a good gun steel with high LCF properties because only several thousand firingsare required for gun barrel in most cases.

Leveraging Uncertainty for Depth-Aware Hierarchical Text Classification

Hierarchical Text Classification (HTC) aims to match text to hierarchical labels. Existing methods overlook two critical issues: first, some texts cannot be fully matched to leaf node labels and need to be classified to the correct parent node instead of treating leaf nodes as the final classification target. Second, error propagation occurs when a misclassification at a parent node propagates down the hierarchy, ultimately leading to inaccurate predictions at the leaf nodes. To address these limitations, we propose an uncertainty-guided HTC depth-aware model called DepthMatch. Specifically, we design an early stopping strategy with uncertainty to identify incomplete matching between text and labels, classifying them into the corresponding parent node labels. This approach allows us to dynamically determine the classification depth by leveraging evidence to quantify and accumulate uncertainty. Experimental results show that the proposed DepthMatch outperforms recent strong baselines on four commonly used public datasets: WOS (Web of Science), RCV1-V2 (Reuters Corpus Volume I), AAPD (Arxiv Academic Paper Dataset), and BGC. Notably, on the BGC dataset, it improves Micro-F1 and Macro-F1 scores by at least 1.09% and 1.74%, respectively.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) occurs more frequently in young males than in females. The prevalence of AS in Taiwan, according to our previous study, is about 0.3%.1 AS mainly affects the spine, however, it can also result in peripheral arthritis that occurs in the toes, ankles, knees, hip joints and the tendon and ligaments around those joints.2 In addition, the spine of some AS patients may develop kyphoscoliosis due to late diagnosis or failure to cooperate in following the routine medication and exercises prescribed by their doctors.

The effects of laser hardening parameters such as beam power, beam diameter and scanning rate on microstructure and hardness of 9CrSi steel were investigated. The microstructure of the surface layer of 9CrSi steel was changed from pearlite to martensite, retained austenite and carbide by laser hardening. The depth of the hardened layer increased with increasing laser energy density and the surface hardeness increased by 3-5 times as high as the untreated steel. The laser hardened surface had good wear resistance due to martensite and carbide in the surface layer. The wear mode at low speed was abrasive, while the wear mode at high speed was adhesive.

Background: Alpha/beta hydrolase domain-containing protein 17C (ABHD17C) is a depalmitoylation enzyme that removes the S-palmitoylation of targeted proteins. The hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells SNU449 and Hep3B use ABHD17C as an oncogene; however, the exact mechanism of this action is yet unknown. Methods: The expression of ABHD17C in liver cancer tissues was analyzed by bioinformatics, and the expression of ABHD17C in clinical liver cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues was detected. Then, the proliferative viability of HCC cells after overexpression or knockdown of ABHD17C was examined, and pyroptosis and apoptosis proteins were detected. Results: ABHD17C was overexpressed in human HCC tissues as well as numerous HCC cell lines. Depletion of ABHD17C caused reduced viability, cell cycle arrest, and defective invasion and migration in HCC cells, while overexpression of ABHD17C exhibited the opposite effect. Moreover, we discovered that the knockdown of ABHD17C resulted in enhanced apoptotic and pyroptotic phenotypes of HCC cells, whereas overexpression of ABHD17C attenuated such phenotypes. Conclusions: It suggests that ABHD17C contributes to HCC carcinogenesis, making it a promising target for medication treatment.

Grass pea ( Lathyrus sativus L.) is an imperative food crop cultured in dryland agricultural ecology. It is a vital source of dietary protein to millions of populaces living in low-income countries in South-East Asia and Africa. This study highlights the improvement of genomic properties and their application in marker-trait relationships for 17 yield-related characters in 400 grass pea genotypes from China and Bangladesh. These characters were assessed via 56 polymorphic markers using general linear model (GLM) (P+G+Q) and mixed linear model (MLM) (P+G+Q+K) in the tassel software based on the linkage disequilibrium and population structure analysis. Population structure analysis showed two major groups and one admixed group in the populace. Statistically signi fi cant loci pairs of linkage disequilibrium (LD) mean value (D ' ) was 0.479. A total of 99 and 61 marker-trait associations in GLM and MLM models allied to the 17 traits were accepted at a 5% level of signi fi cance. Among these markers, 21 markers were associated with more than one trait; 12 marker-trait associations passed the Bonferroni correction threshold. Both models found six markers C41936, C39067, C34100, C47146, C47638, and C43047 signi fi cantly associated with days to maturity, fl ower color, plant height, and seed per pod were detected in the Hebei and Liaoyang location ( p <= 0.01), and the interpretation rate (R 2 value) 11.2% to 43.6%. Conferring to the consequences, the association analysis methodology may operative system for quantitative, qualitative, and biochemical traits related to gene position mapping and support breeders in improving novel approaches for advancing the grass pea quality.

Wavelet transform was firstly used to analyze te singularity of a given signal, and then with the method of wavelet transform modulus maximum(WTMM), the characters of fractal set of triadic Cantor was studied. The results show that one can, not only determine the position of singular of signal, but also estimate the Holder exponent h which describes the strength of singularity and other parameters, such as D(h) and τ(q) correctly. Finally, after applying this method to process temperature data in the Rayleigh-Benard convection further, we found that the multifractal hierarchical and multi-scale structure underlying this flow could be entirely revealed from the parameters h, D(h) and τ(q), and the obtained results agree well with the ones determined from the viewpoint of fractal measures.
