Ground military target recognition plays a crucial role in unmanned equipment and grasping the battlefield dynamics for military applications, but is disturbed by low-resolution and noisyrepresentation. In this paper, a recognition method, involving a novel visual attention mechanismbased Gabor region proposal sub-network(Gabor RPN) and improved refinement generative adversarial sub-network(GAN), is proposed. Novel central-peripheral rivalry 3D color Gabor filters are proposed to simulate retinal structures and taken as feature extraction convolutional kernels in low-level layer to improve the recognition accuracy and framework training efficiency in Gabor RPN. Improved refinement GAN is used to solve the problem of blurry target classification, involving a generator to directly generate large high-resolution images from small blurry ones and a discriminator to distinguish not only real images vs. fake images but also the class of targets. A special recognition dataset for ground military target, named Ground Military Target Dataset(GMTD), is constructed. Experiments performed on the GMTD dataset effectively demonstrate that our method can achieve better energy-saving and recognition results when low-resolution and noisy-representation targets are involved, thus ensuring this algorithm a good engineering application prospect.

The scientific discipline of ethnobotany-the study of human interactions with plants e has applications in many fields of current global concern,including food security,climate change,biodiversity conservation and human health.Ethnobotanical studies can provide insights into the ways that societies interact locally with their environmental resources.Ethnobotanical studies have the potential to bring together and integrate local and scientific knowledge to advance the cause of achieving biocultural conservation(Gaoue et al.,2017;Prance,2007).This special Issue of Plant Diversity contains recent ethnobotanical studies that aim to contribute to determining the most useful ways ethnobotany can be used to confront human problems in the future.Specifically,this issue shows ways in which ethnobotany can contribute to the conservation of biodiversity,especially with regards to documentation and maintenance of indigenous and local knowledge of plants.The research in this issue also describes innovative practices communities have adopted to maintain their plant resources。

The engraving process of a projectile rotating band is one of the most basic research aspects in interior ballistics,which has not been thoroughly understood thus far.An understanding of this process is of great importance from the viewpoints of optimal design,manufacturing,use,and maintenance of gun and projectile.In this paper,the interaction of copper and nylon rotating bands with a CrNiMo gun barrel during engraving was studied under quasi‐static and dynamic loading conditions.The quasi‐static engraving tests were performed on a CSS‐88500 electronic universal testing machine(EUTM)and a special gas‐gun‐based test rig was designed for dynamic impact engraving of the rotating bands.The mechanical behaviors of copper and nylon were investigated under strain rates of 10^(−3) s^(−1) and 2×10^(3) s^(−1) using an MTS 810 and a split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB),respectively.Morphologies of the worn surfaces and cross‐sectional microstructures were observed with scanning electron microscope(SEM)and optical microscope(OM).It was found that large deformation and severe friction occur during engraving.The surface layer is condensed and correlated with a hardness gradient along the depth from the top worn surface.The structure of the rotating band and gun bore,band material,and loading rate have great effects on band engraving.The flow stress‐strain of the copper strongly depends on the applied strain rate.It is suggested that strain rate and temperature play significant roles in the deformation mechanism of rotating bands.

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the common endocrinopathies of women in the reproductive age group. Thyroid hormones have various effects on the reproductive system of female. PCOS and thyroid dysfunction are linked to each other since several years. Objective: To evaluate and detect the thyroid dysfunction in patients with PCOS attending in a tertiary care hospital in Bangladesh. Methodology: This was a prospective cross sectional study conducted from November 2018 to October 2019 at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh on one hundred and fifty (150) PCOS women of reproductive age (15 - 45 years). All data of the study subjects regarding socio-demographic, anthropometric and clinical manifestations were recorded accordingly. Their thyroid function tests (serum level of FT3, FT4, TSH) were done at the hospital laboratory and results were recorded. Result: Mean (±SD) age of the study subjects was 24.57 ± 4.27 years. The maximum numbers [108 (72.0%)] of PCOS women were between 18 - 25 years age group. Among total (150) study population, 51 (34.0%) were overweight, 36 (24.0%) were obese and 63 (42.0%) were within normal weight level. Hirsutism was found in 87 (58%) study subjects while 24 (16%) subjects had acne in their face, 54 (36%) subjects had oligomenorrhea and 45 (30%) subjects had irregular periods. Among 150 PCOS women, 120 (80%) were married and 30 (20%) were single;of them primary infertility was detected in 58 (48.33%) women followed by the normal fertility status [51 (42.5%)] and 11 (9.17%) had secondary infertility. Among total (150) study subjects, 105 (70%) were in euthyroid state, hypothyroidism was found in 33 (22.0%) subjects and hyperthyroidism was detected in 12 (8%) subjects. Conclusions: Present study demonstrated that, thyroid disorders are prevalent in 30.0% of PCOS patients. Hypothyroidism is almost three-fold more prevalent than hyperthyroidism.

AIM:To identify blood donors with occult hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection(OBI) to promote safe blood donation.METHODS:Descriptive cross sectional study was conducted on 3167 blood donors negative for hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg),hepatitis C antibody(HCV Ab) and human immunodeficiency virus Ab.They were subjected to the detection of alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and aspartate transaminase(AST) and screening for anti-HBV core antibodies(total) by two different techniques;[Monoliza antibodies to hepatitis B core(Anti-HBc) Plus-Bio-Rad] and(ARC-HBc total-ABBOT).Positive samples were subjected to quantitative detection of antibodies to hepatitis B surface(anti-HBs)(ETI-AB-AUK-3,Dia Sorin-Italy).Serum anti-HBs titers > 10 IU/L was considered positive.Quantitative HBV DNA by real time polymerase chain reaction(PCR)(QIAGEN-Germany) with 3.8 IU/mL detection limit was estimated for blood units with negative serum anti-HBs and also for 32 whose anti-HBs serum titers were > 1000 IU/L.Also,265 recipients were included,34 of whom were followed up for 3-6 mo.Recipients were investigated for ALT and AST,HBV serological markers:HBsAg(ETI-MAK-4,Dia Sorin-Italy),anti-HBc,quantitative detection of anti-HBs and HBV-DNA.RESULTS:525/3167(16.6%) of blood units were positive for total anti-HBc,64% of those were antiHBs positive.Confirmation by ARCHITECT anti-HBc assay were carried out for 498/525 anti-HBc positive samples,where 451(90.6%) confirmed positive.Reactivity for anti-HBc was considered confirmed only if two positive results were obtained for each sample,giving an overall prevalence of 451/3167(14.2%) for total anti-HBc.HBV DNA was quantified by real time PCR in 52/303(17.2%) of anti-HBc positive blood donors(viral load range:5 to 3.5 x 105 IU/mL) with a median of 200 IU/mL(mean:1.8 x 104 ± 5.1 x 104 IU/mL).AntiHBc was the only marker in 68.6% of donors.Univariate and multivariate logistic analysis for identifying risk factors associated with anti-HBc and HBV-DNA positivity among blood donors showed that age above thirty a
