New perspectives on the genetic structure of dotted gizzard shad(Konosirus punctatus)based on RAD-seq

To maintain,develop and rationally utilize marine organisms,understanding their genetic structure and habitat adaptation pattern is *** punctatus,which is a commercial fish species inhabiting the Indo-west Pacific ocean,has shown an obvious annual global capture and aquaculture production decline due to climate changes and human *** the present study,restriction-site associated DNA sequencing(RAD-seq)was used to describe its genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphisms panel(SNPs).Among 146 individuals collected at nine locations scattered in China,Korea and Japan,a set of 632,090 SNPs were *** genetic analysis showed that *** individuals were divided into two significant genetic ***,potential genetic differentiation between northern and southern population of *** was *** results indicated that gene flow existed among sampling locations of ***,especially from southern Japan to ***,candidate genes associated with habitat adaptations of *** were identified,which are involved in diverse physiological processes of *** including growth and development(e.g.,KIDINS220,PAN3),substance metabolism(e.g.,PGM5)and immune response(e.g.,VAV3,CCT7,HSPA12B).Our findings may aid in understanding the possible mechanisms for the population genetic structure and local adaptation of ***,which is beneficial to establish the management and conservation units of ***,guiding the rational use of resources,with reference significance for a profound understanding of the adaptative mechanisms of other marine organisms to the environment.

Bionic soft robotic gripper with feedback control for adaptive grasping and capturing applications

Robots are playing an increasingly important role in engineering *** robots have promising applications in several fields due to their inherent advantages of compliance,low density,and soft interactions.A soft gripper based on bio-inspiration is proposed in this *** analyze the cushioning and energy absorption mechanism of human fingertips in detail and provide insights for designing a soft gripper with a variable stiffness *** investigate the grasping modes through a large deformation modeling approach,which is verified through *** characteristics of the three grasping modes are quantified through testing and can provide guidance for robotics ***,the adaptability of the soft gripper is verified by grasping multi-scale and extremely soft ***,a cushioning model of the soft gripper is proposed,and the effectiveness of cushioning is verified by grasping extremely sharp objects and living ***,we validate the advantages of the variable stiffness of the soft gripper,and the results show that the soft robot can robustly complete assemblies with a gap of only 0.1 *** to the unstructured nature of the engineering environment,the soft gripper can be applied in complex environments based on the abovementioned experimental ***,we design the soft robotics system with feedback capture based on the inspiration of human catching *** feasibility of engineering applications is initially verified through fast capture experiments on moving *** design concept of this robot can provide new insights for bionic machinery.

The conventional theory of concerted evolution has been used to explain the lack of sequence variation in ribosomal RNA(rRNA)genes across diverse eukaryotic ***,recent investigations into rRNA genes in flatfish genome have resulted in controversial *** study focuses on 18S rRNA genes of the widely distributed tongue sole,Cynoglossus abbreviatus(Pleuronectiformes:Cynoglossidae),aiming to explore sequence *** distinct 18S rDNA sequence types(Type A,B,R1,R2,and R3)were identified,suggesting a departure from concerted evolution.A combination of general criteria and variations in highly conserved regions were employed to detect *** results pinpointed Type A sequences as potential pseudogenes due to significant sequence variations and deviations in secondary structure within highly conserved *** types(Type R1,R2,and R3)were identified as recombinants between Type A and B sequences,with simple crossing over and gene conversion as the most likely recombination *** findings not only contribute to rRNA pseudogene identification but also shed light on the evolutionary dynamics of rRNA genes in teleost genomes.

Study of the Relationship Between New Ionic Interaction Parameters and Salt Solubility in Electrolyte Solutions Based on Molecular Dynamics Simulation

Studying the relationship between ionic interactions and salt solubility in seawater has implications for seawater desalination and mineral *** this paper,a new method of expressing ion-to-ion interaction is proposed by using molecular dynamics simulation,and the relationship between ion-to-ion interaction and salt solubility in a simulated seawater water-salt system is *** analyzing the variation of distance and contact time between ions in an electrolyte solution,from both spatial and temporal perspectives,new parameters were proposed to describe the interaction between ions:interaction distance(ID),and interaction time ratio(ITR).The best correlation between characteristic time ratio and solubility was found for a molar ratio of salt-to-water of 10:100 with a correlation coefficient of *** the same salt,a positive correlation was found between CTR and the molar ratio of salt and *** type 1-1,type 2-1,type 1-2,and type 2-2 salts,the correlation coefficients between CTR and solubility were 0.93,0.96,0.92,and 0.98 for a salt-to-water molar ratio of 10:100,*** solubility of multiple salts was predicted by simulations and compared with experimental values,yielding an average relative deviation of 12.4%.The new ion-interaction parameters offer significant advantages in describing strongly correlated and strongly hydrated electrolyte solutions.

An Innovative Coupled Common-Node Discrete Element Method-Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics Model Developed with LS-DYNA and Its Applications

In this study,a common-node DEM-SPH coupling model based on the shared node method is proposed,and a fluid–structure coupling method using the common-node discrete element method-smoothed particle hydrodynamics(DS-SPH)method is developed using LS-DYNA *** DEM and SPH are established on the same node to create common-node DEM-SPH particles,allowing for fluid–structure *** simulations of various scenarios,including water entry of a rigid sphere,dam-break propagation over wet beds,impact on an ice plate floating on water and ice accumulation on offshore structures,are *** interaction between DS particles and SPH fluid and the crack generation mechanism and expansion characteristics of the ice plate under the interaction of structure and fluid are also *** results are compared with available data to verify the proposed coupling ***,the simulation results demonstrated that controlling the cutoff pressure of internal SPH particles could effectively control particle splashing during ice crushing failure.

Effect of particle composition and consolidation degree on the wave-induced liquefaction of soil beds

The wave-induced liquefaction of seabed is responsible for causing damage to marine *** composition and consolidation degree are the key factors affecting the pore water pressure response and liquefaction behavior of the seabed under wave *** present study conducted wave flume experiments on silt and silty fine sand beds with varying particle ***,a comprehensive analysis of the differences and underlying reasons for liquefaction behavior in two different types of soil was conducted from both macroscopic and microscopic *** experimental results indicate that the silt bed necessitates a lower wave load intensity to attain the liquefaction state in comparison to the silty fine sand ***,the duration and development depth of liquefaction are greater in the silt *** dissimilarity in liquefaction behavior between the two types of soil can be attributed to the variation in their permeability and plastic deformation *** permeability coefficient and compression modulus of silt are lower than those of silty fine ***,silt is more prone to the accumulation of pore pressure and subsequent liquefaction under external *** research has demonstrated that silt beds with varying consolidation degrees exhibit distinct initial failure ***,a dense bed undergoes shear failure,whereas a loose bed experiences initial liquefaction *** study utilized discrete element simulation to examine the microscopic mechanisms that underlie this phenomenon.

Insight into the Inhibition of the Poisonous Sulfide Production from Sulfate-Reducing Microbiota in Mariculture Habitat

The production of toxic sulfides is a common environmental problem in ***,the effective inhibition of sulfidogens is the key to prevent sulfides *** this study,the possibility and mechanism of nitrate(NO_(3)^(−))inhibiting the activity of the sulfate-reducing microbiota(SRM)from mariculture sediments was *** results showed that 1,3,and 5 mmol L^(−1)NO_(3)^(−)continuously inhibited sulfide production for 1-3 *** NO_(3)^(−) dosage increased to 7 mmol L^(−1),the duration of inhibition increased to 6 *** product NO_(2)^(−)heavily inhibited the activity of dissimilar sulfate reductase gene(dsrB)by 3 orders,which was the main reason that the sulfate-reducing activity was *** SRM structure changed significantly with the dosage of NO_(3)^(−),while the abundance of sulfidogens Desulfovibrio species increased due to their capability of detoxifying nitrite through nitrite ***,sulfidogens Desulfovibrio species are more adaptable to a high nitrate/nitrite environment,and the traditional control strategies by dosing nitrate/nitrite should be paid more attention *** findings will serve as helpful guidelines for sulfate-reducing microbiota in the habitat of mariculture to reduce their generation of poisonous sulfide.

Evaluation on the state of sand filling layer and the influence on segment deformation of immersed tunnels

The immersed tunnel is considered an effective solution for traffic problems across rivers and *** sand filling layer,as an important part of immersed tunnel foundation treatments,directly affects segment attitude *** to difficulties in quality control of concealed construction and the complex hydrodynamic environment,the sand filling layer is prone to compaction defects,further leading to changes in segment ***,limited by structural concealment and state complexity,most studies consider the sand filling layer part of the foundation to study its impact on settlement while neglecting its influence on segment *** research proposes an evaluation method for the sand filling layer state based on elastic wave testing and the elastic wave characteristic parameters selected come from analysis of the time domain,frequency domain and time–frequency *** classifying the elastic wave characteristic parameters through the K-means clustering method,the relationship between the state of the sand filling layer and the elastic wave characteristic parameters is *** state of the sand filling layer is divided into dense,incompact,and void.A numerical model is established based on the Guangzhou BI-UT immersed tunnel with incompact and void sand filling layer states to simulate deformation and *** results indicate that the settlement of the tunnel segment is low in the eastern region and high in the western region due to the presence of a less dense sand filling layer,with a maximum differential settlement of 0.04 *** evaluation method plays a crucial role in guiding the construction of immersed tube tunnels.
