BACKGROUND Differences in the preoperative characteristics and weight loss outcomes after sleeve gastrectomy(SG)between patients with familial aggregation of obesity(FAO)and patients with sporadic obesity(SO)have not been *** To explore the impact of SG on weight loss and the alleviation of obesity-related comorbidities in individuals with *** A total of 193 patients with obesity who underwent SG were *** with FAO/SO were matched 1:1 by propensity score matching and were categorized into 4 groups based on the number of first-degree relatives with obesity(1 SO vs 1FAO,2SO vs 2FAO).The baseline characteristics,weight loss outcomes,prevalence of obesity-related comorbidities and incidence of major surgeryrelated complications were compared between *** We defined FAO as the presence of two or more first-degree relatives with *** with FAO did not initially show significant differences in baseline data,short-term postoperative weight loss,or obesity-related comorbidities when compared to patients with SO ***,distinctions between the two groups became evident at the two-year mark,with statistically significant differences in both percentage of total weight loss(P=0.006)and percentage of excess weight loss(P<0.001).The FAO group exhibited weaker remission of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)(P=0.031),hyperlipidemia(P=0.012),and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)(P=0.003)as well as a lower incidence of acid reflux(P=0.038).CONCLUSION FAO patients is associated with decreased mid-to-long-term weight loss outcomes;the alleviation of T2DM,hyperlipidemia and NAFLD;and decreased incidence of acid reflux postoperatively.

obesity has brought great challenges to global human health， and how to effectively prevent and control the occurrence and development of obesity has become an urgent problem. The role and mechanism of 4-[(α-L-Rhamnosyloxy) benzyl] isothiocyanate (MITC)， an active ingredient of Moringa oleifera Lam.， in the regulation of lipid metabolism have not been comprehensively investigated. In the present study， we investigated the mechanism of MITC in inhibiting lipid accumulation in mice fed with a high-fat diet (HFD) in terms of both lipolysis and central appetite regulation mediated by the gut microbe–gut–brain axis. MITC enhanced the characteristic indices associated with HFD mice and also promoted adipocytolysis and brown fat thermogenesis. Moreover， MITC was observed to improve leptin resistance， modulate the composition of gut microbiota such as Ruminococcaceae， Parasutterella， and Acetatifactor， promote 5-HT secretion， further enhance the secretion of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and peptide tyrosine-tyrosine (PYY) to activate peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) signaling in the hypothalamus， and modulate feeding behavior to inhibit lipid accumulation in HFD mice. These data suggest that MITC supplementation can help to alleviate obesity or obesity-related diseases.

Objective：To explore the regulative efficacy of Pu＇er tea（普洱茶）extract on metabolic syndrome. Methods：Ninety patients with metabolic syndrome were randomly divided into two groups,the intervention group administered with Pu＇er tea extract,and the placebo group with placebo *** 3 months＇ treatment, body mass index,waist hip ratio,blood lipids,blood sugar,immune and inflammatory index,and oxidation index of the patients with metabolic syndrome were tested and ***：In the intervention group,the body mass index,waist-hip ratio,fasting and 2 h postprandial blood glucose,serum total cholesterol,triglycerides, low density lipoprotein and apolipoprotein B-100 all decreased in the patients with metabolic syndrome,and also the high-density lipoprotein level increased and apolipoprotein A-1 showed the tendency to increase. Serum C-reactive protein,tumor necrosis factor-α,and interleukin-6 were decreased in the intervention group. lnterleukin-10 level was increased,MDA was decreased and superoxide dismutase was *** with before treatment and the placebo group,there were significant differences（P0.05,P0.01）.Conclusions： Pu＇er tea demonstrated excellent potential in improving central obesity,adjusting blood lipid,lowering blood sugar,regulating immunity and resisting *** can adjust the metabolic syndrome of different clinical phenotypes to different degrees,and is ideally fit for early prevention of metabolic syndrome.

In order to investigate the effects of simvastatin on secretion and mRNA expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and adiponectin in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, mouse 3T3-L1 adipocytes were stimu- lated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Production and mRNA expression of IL-6 and adiponectin in 3T3-L1 adipocytes were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), respectively. The results showed that simvastatin could significantly suppress LPS-induced IL-6 production and mRNA expression in adipocytes (Pobesity-induced metabolic changes in adipocytes.

Cancer of the small intestine is very *** are 4 main histological subtypes:adenocarcinomas,carcinoid tumors,lymphoma and *** incidence of small intestine cancer has increased over the past several decades with a four-fold increase for carcinoid tumors,less dramatic rises for adenocarcinoma and lymphoma and stable sarcoma *** little is known about its *** increased risk has been noted for individuals with Crohn's disease,celiac disease,adenoma,familial adenomatous polyposis and Peutz-Jeghers *** behavioral risk factors including consumption of red or smoked meat,saturated fat,obesity and smoking have been *** prognosis for carcinomas of the small intestine cancer is poor(5 years relative survival obesity and cigarette smoking,there are no established modifiable risk factors which might provide the foundation for a prevention program aimed at reducing the incidence and mortality of cancers of the small *** research with better quality and sufficient statistical power is needed to get better understanding of the etiology and biology of this *** addition,more studies should be done to assess not only exposures of interest,but also host susceptibility.

Predatory hunting is an important type of innate behavior evolutionarily conserved across the animal *** is typically composed of a set of sequential actions,including prey search,pursuit,attack,and *** behavior is subject to control by the nervous *** studies used toads as a model to probe the neuroethology of hunting,which led to the proposal of a sensory-triggered release mechanism for hunting *** recent stud-ies have used genetically-trackable zebrafish and rodents and have made breakthrough discoveries in the neuroethol-ogy and neurocircuits underlying this ***,we review the sophisticated neurocircuitry involved in hunting and summarize the detailed mechanism for the circuitry to encode various aspects of hunting neuroethology,including sensory processing,sensorimotor transformation,motivation,and sequential encoding of hunting *** also discuss the overlapping brain circuits for hunting and feeding and point out the limitations of current *** propose that hunting is an ideal behavioral paradigm in which to study the neuroethology of motivated behaviors,which may shed new light on epidemic disorders,including bingeeating,obesity,and obsessive-compulsive disorders.

Background:To assess the effect of weight loss in overweight and/or obese women on the in vitro fertilization(IVF)treatment outcome before IVF cycles by a systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical ***:Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials(RCTs)and cohort studies were *** literature searches were conducted,and all randomized trials that evaluated the impact of weight loss in IVF treatment cycles were included in the *** selection,quality estimation,and data extractions were performed independently and in ***:A total of 924 patients were enrolled in seven studies;the effects of weight loss on the IVF treatment outcome before the IVF treatment cycle were *** clinical pregnancy rate(risk ratio[RR]:1.61,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.15-2.27),miscarriage rate(RR:0.56,95%CI:0.34-0.93),and live birth rate(RR:1.86,95%CI:1.41-2.45)had a statistically significant difference between the intervention and control *** significant differences were observed in the number of oocytes retrieved(weighted mean difference[WMD]:0.84,95%CI:−0.12-1.79),gonadotropin consumption(WMD:2.59,95%CI:−6.61-1.42),or the duration of stimulation(WMD:−0.46,95%CI:−1.64-0.71).Conclusions:Before IVF treatment,obese and overweight women should lose weight by physical activity and/or dietary management because weight loss can improve pregnancy rate,reduce miscarriage rate,and meliorate live birth *** the same time,further prospective RCTs are required to establish which methods of weight loss are most suited to this purpose,as well as determining whether cut points for body mass index need to be recommended before accessing IVF.
