Background: Successful implementation of evidence-based research into clinical practice was determined by four core elements, self-belief, the nature and level of evidence, the conductive context into which the study is to be implemented, and organizational factors facilitating the process. Aim: The current study aimed to examine barriers influencing evidence-based practice among critical care nurses in QATAR. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was utilized for the study resulting in data collected from 278 nurses during the period of Feb-2021 to March 2021 using the Barriers to Research Utilization Scale (BTRUS). The BTRUS consisted of data on various information sources utilized by nurses for support in practice, potential barriers for evidence-based practice, and perceived skills on applying research-based evidence. Result: The most significant organizational barriers were lack of time, lack of empowerment to change practice, lack of support from colleagues in implementing research evidence, and lack of access to research articles. Self-perceived barriers were irrelevance of research evidence to current practice, studies having methodological flaws, skepticism about research findings, a large amount of research evidence, and inability to understand statistics. The Nurse’s age, years of nursing practice, academic attainment, and organizational position influenced self-reported barriers and utilization of sources of Evidence. Conclusion: Organizational support, improved self-belief, and evidence-based practice expertise may reduce barriers to implementing research evidence in clinical Practice.

Symptom distress and interference among cancer patients with osteoradionecrosis of jaw: A cross-sectional study

Objective:Osteoradionecrosis of the jaws(ORNJ)is among the most serious oral complications of head and neck cancer treatment with radiation therapy.This study aimed to examine the level of symptom distress and interference of ORNJ in head and neck cancer patients in China.Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted to profile patient reported symptom severity.Ninetyfive hospitalized ORNJ patients were recruited.Participants completed the MD Anderson Symptom Inventory-Head and Neck Module-Chinese version.Results:The percentage of participants who reported that they experienced at least one type of symptom was 97.9%,and 85.2%patients reported interference.The 10 most severe symptoms were as follows:limited mouth opening,problem with teeth/gums,difficulty swallowing/chewing,dry mouth,oral malodor,difficulty with voice/speech,dental ulcer,tinnitus/ear obstruction,skin pain/burning/rash,and difficulty hearing.The problem of limited mouth opening was more severe in patients with longer time to onset of ORNJ after radiotherapy.The interference of patients positively correlated with core symptoms(r=0.612),head and neck symptoms(r=0.709),and ORNJ symptoms(r=0.440)(P<0.01).The longer time to the onset of ORNJ after radiotherapy was positively and significantly correlated with symptom distress(r=0.479,P<0.001),and mouth opening correlated negatively with symptom distress(r=-0.298,P=0.003).Conclusions:ORNJ patients suffered mainly from limited mouth opening and other maxillofacial symptoms.The problem of limited mouth opening was more severe in patients with longer time to onset of ORNJ after radiotherapy.ORNJ patients commonly had symptom distress,which influenced their quality of life.

Human caring is regarded as the essence and core of nursing.Based on Dr.Watson′s human caring science theory,nursing staff in Wuhan Union Hospital and other healthcare institutions have delivered warm human caring service in patients′ daily care.During the outbreak of major infectious disease-pandemic of COVID-19,patients are suffering from great psychological distress and pressure.Like nursing professionals around the world,nurses in Wuhan,Hubei,China,along with the colleagues from the National Aid Medical Team,used entire of themselves to conduct diversity human caring measures to patients suffering from the major infectious disease with love and responsibilities,which greatly demonstrated the essence and value of nursing care,and has wide implications for further development of nursing.

BACKGROUND As one of the fatal diseases with high incidence,lung cancer has seriously endangered public health and safety.Elderly patients usually have poor self-care and are more likely to show a series of psychological problems.AIM To investigate the effectiveness of the initial check,information exchange,final accuracy check,reaction(IIFAR)information care model on the mental health status of elderly patients with lung cancer.METHODS This study is a single-centre study.We randomly recruited 60 elderly patients with lung cancer who attended our hospital from January 2021 to January 2022.These elderly patients with lung cancer were randomly divided into two groups,with the control group taking the conventional propaganda and education and the observation group taking the IIFAR information care model based on the conventional care protocol.The differences in psychological distress,anxiety and depression,life quality,fatigue,and the locus of control in psychology were compared between these two groups,and the causes of psychological distress were analyzed.RESULTS After the intervention,Distress Thermometer,Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HADS)for anxiety and the HADS for depression,Revised Piper’s Fatigue Scale,and Chance Health Locus of Control scores were lower in the observation group compared to the pre-intervention period in the same group and were significantly lower in the observation group compared to those of the control group(Pcore 30(QLQ-C30),Internal Health Locus of Control,and Powerful Others Health Locus of Control scores were significantly higher in the observation and the control groups compared to the pre-intervention period in their same group,and QLQ-C30 scores were significantly higher in the observation group compared to those of the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The IIFAR information care model can help elderly patients with lung cancer by reducing their anxiety and depression,psychological distress,and fatigue,improving the

The development of Electronic Health Literacy worldwide: a bibliometric analysis

Objective:This study aimed to review researches on electronic health literacy,provided some suggestions and identified directions for further research.Methods:The literatures were collected by searching the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI)and the core collection database of Web of Science from inception to November 17,2019.SPSS software was used for regression analysis,and citespace 5.5.R2 was used for visual analysis.Results:A total of 249 valid documents were retrieved,of which 205 were in English and 44 were in Chinese.Among them,USA had the largest number of publications,followed by Australia,Germany,Netherlands,and China.In China,Beijing has the most published literatures,followed by Anhui,Shanghai,Guangdong,and Shandong.The English-language journal with the most publications was journal of Medical Internet Research,and Chinese-language journal was Chinese health education.However,the Chinese and English core journals were relatively scattered,and no core journal group had yet formed.There were 111 funding institutions in both Chinese and English literature.Research content mainly included current situation investigation,influencing factors,clinical practice interventions,scale preparation and translation,qualitative interviews,etc.Conclusion:At present,there are many researches in the field of e-health literacy worldwide.However,the quality and depth of research still need to be further improved.The field of research also needs to be further expanded to meet the opportunities and challenges that the Internet brings to the medical industry.

A systematic review of the effect of mobile health on cardiac rehabilitation among coronary heart disease patients

Objective： Mobile health （mHealth） provides an innovative and effective approach to promote prevention and management of coronary heart disease. However, the magnitude of its effects is unclear. The aim of this systematic review was to examine the impact of mHealth-based cardiac rehabilitation outcomes among coronary heart disease patients. Methods： Medline, CINAHL, Embase, PubMed, Google Scholar, NICE, and Cochrane library were searched for randomized controlled trials published between January 2002 and March 2017 which compared mHealth with conventional cardiac rehabilitation programs among coronary heart disease patients. Results： Eight articles were included in this review. The impact of mHealth interventions on physical activity, medicine adherence, smoking cessation, level of anxiety, and quality of life was inconsistent among the articles. Conclusions： Further research is needed to conclusively determine the impact of mHealth interventions on cardiac rehabilitation outcomes. The limitations of the included studies （e.g., inadequate sample size, failure to address the core components of cardiac rehabilitation programs, and lack of theory-based design） should be taken into account when designing future studies.

Application of network pharmacology in uncovering the biological basis of using the Banxia Baizhu Tianma decoction for hypertension treatment

Background:The Banxia Baizhu Tianma decoction(BBTD)is widely used in the clinical treatment of hypertension and has definite curative effects.However,its active ingredients and mechanism of action in hypertension treatment are still unknown.In this study,network pharmacology was used to elucidate the potential antihypertensive mechanism of BBTD.Methods:The active ingredients and targets of BBTD were screened in the pharmacological database of the Chinese medicine system.The targets that are related to hypertension were obtained from the Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man(OMIM),Drugbank,and Genecards databases.The String database was used to analyze the prevention and treatment of hypertension by BBTD.The interaction of important targets was assessed,and the related network data was visualized using the Cytoscape software.The OmicShare platform was employed in conducting enrichment analyses of gene functions and pathways of important targets,in addition to evaluating the relationship between important targets and the phenotype of hypertension.Molecular docking of the main active ingredients with important targets was also assessed.Results:In this study,194 main active ingredients and 616 targets of BBTD were screened,and 5,819 related targets that are closely related to hypertension were unearthed.A total of 445 BBTD key targets for the treatment of hypertension were obtained,along with 73 core targets from performed network topology and module analysis on the key targets.The enrichment analyses of GO and KEGG showed that oxidative stress,HIF-1 signal,IL-17 signal,and TNF signal play a vital role in hypertension.Molecular docking studies have revealed that the main biologically active components can be combined with key targets quite well.Conclusion:The potential mechanism of BBTD in treating hypertension involves many components,targets,and pathways.Some of the potential targets for the prevention and treatment of hypertension are ESR1,MAPK,TP53,TNF,and MMP9.These findings provide a reference for further researc

Adaptive Regression for Nonlinear Interrupted Time Series Analyses with Application to Birth Defects in Children of Vietnam War Veterans

The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of adaptive regression modeling and demonstrate its use in conducting nonlinear analyses of interrupted time series (ITS) data. Adaptive regression modeling is based on heuristic search over alternative models for data controlled by likelihood-cross validation (LCV) scores with larger scores indicating better models. Extended linear mixed models are used for correlated data like ITS data. Power transforms of predictor variables are used to account for nonlinearity. The use of adaptive regression modeling for assessing ITS effects is demonstrated using data on annual proportions of major birth defects in children fathered by male Air Force veterans of the Vietnam War over a 59-year period. The interruption for this ITS is conception after versus before the start of a participant’s first tour in the Vietnam War. Whether the ITS effect is related to dioxin exposure is also addressed. Dioxin is a highly toxic contaminant of the herbicide Agent Orange used in the Vietnam War. The core findings of the reported analyses are that a substantial adverse ITS interruption effect is identified and that this adverse effect can reasonably be attributed to participants having a high dioxin exposure level. Moreover, these results indicate that adaptive regression modeling can identify nonlinear ITS effects in general situations that can lead to consequential insights into nonlinear relationships over time, possibly varying with other available predictors.

Purpose:To supply further references by analyzing the status of research on mild cognitive impairment nursing in China.Methods:Papers on mild cognitive impairment nursing published between 2005 and 2014were collected from China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wanfang Data,and China Biological Medicine database,while their publication dates,journals,and types were subjected to a bibliometric analysis using NoteExpress and Excel.Results:A total of 68 papers were collected from the selected databases.The number of papers on mild cognitive impairment nursing increased annually.The selected papers were published in 44 journals,55.88% of them were published in core journals,35.29%received funding support,35.29% were published by hospitals affiliated to colleges,47.06%were published by other local hospitals,author collaboration is 2.66,and 66.18% showed co-authorship.These papers covered a wide range of topics,but were only conducted based on clinical interventions.Around 29.41% of these papers had a citation frequency of over 5,the highest citation frequency was 29,and the highest h-index was 23.Conclusion:Beijing and Shanghai established core author groups for mild cognitive impairment nursing research.These studies should focus on the community and psychological nursing of such impairment.Targeted nursing interventions on different types of mild cognitive impairment should be adopted,new avenues for research should be opened,and various research methods should be introduced.
