Challenges in applying REE-based thermobarometers: Insights from mafic-ultramafic granulites in Indian southern granulite terrain

High-temperature diffusion of major elements may obscure the records of early and peak metamorphic stages in granulites,while trace elements are more likely to preserve these records due to their lower diffusion ***,using calibrated REE-based thermobarometers has proved essential for reconstructing these key stages,drawing considerable attention and application from ***,the precision of these thermobarometers depends on including both major and trace elements from coexisting minerals to define the correlation coefficients（A,B,and D） among mineral pairs,indicating that the elemental composition of these pairs can affect the *** study examines the mafic-ultramafic granulites in the southern granulite terrain,India,employing integrated methods such as petrography,mineral chemistry,phase equilibrium modeling,and REE-based *** aim to determine their metamorphic conditions and evolutionary history and to identify potential challenges in using REE-based *** garnet,clinopyroxene,and orthopyroxene in the mafic-ultramafic granulite samples display homogeneous compositional profiles,with pronounced Fe-Mg diffusion zones at the interfaces between garnet and ***,the profiles of trace elements within garnet and clinopyroxene are better *** into Fe-Mg exchange and randomly selected mineral pairs significantly influence the accuracy of REE-based ***-Mg exchange can increase in coefficient A,while decreasing coefficient B for light rare earth elements（LREEs） and increasing it for heavy rare earth elements（HREEs）,ultimately resulting in overestimations when calculating REE-based *** example,selecting major compositions with an Ex(=(XMgC-XMg0)/XMg0×100%;where XMgCis the value after Fe-Mg exchange,XMg0is the value before Fe-Mg exchange;XMg=Mg/(Fe2++Mg)) value of ～10 for calculation using the REE-in-Grt-Cpx thermobarometer will result in pressures and t

Tailoring NH4+ storage by regulating oxygen defect in ammonium vanadate

Defect engineering is an effective strategy for modifying the energy storage materials to improve their electrochemical ***, the impact of oxygen defect and its content on the electrochemical performances in the burgeoning aqueous NH+4storage field remains explored. Therefore, for the first time in this work, an oxygen-defective ammonium vanadate [（NH4）2V10O25·8H2O, denoted as Od-NHVO] with a novel 3D porous flower-like architecture was achieved via the reduction of thiourea in a mild reaction condition, which is a facile method that can realize the intention to regulate the oxygen defect content, with the capability of mass-production. The as-prepared OdM-NHVO with moderate oxygen defect content can deliver a stable specific capacitance output(505 F g-1, 252 mAh g-1at 0.5 A g-1with ～80% capacitance retention after 10,000 cycles), which benefits from extra active sites, unimpeded NH+4-migration path and relatively high structure integrity. In contrast, low oxygen defect content will lead to the torpid electrochemical reaction kinetics while too high content of it will reduce the chargestorage capability and induce structural disintegration. The superior NH+4-storage behavior is achieved with the reversible intercalation/deintercalation process of NH+4accompanied by forming/breaking of hydrogen bond. As expected, the assembled flexible OdM-NHVO//PTCDI quasi-solid-state hybrid supercapacitor（FQSS HSC） also exhibits high areal capacitance, energy density and reliable flexibility. This work provides a new avenue for developing materials with oxygen-deficient structure for application in various aqueous non-metal cation storage systems.

A heat transfer model for liquid film boiling on micro-structured surfaces

High heat transfer coefficient(HTC) and critical heat flux(CHF) are achieved in liquid film boiling by coupling vibrant vapor bubbles with a capillary liquid film, which has thus received increased interest for thermal management of high-power electronics. Although some experimental progress has been made, a high-fidelity heat transfer model for liquid film boiling is lacking. This work develops a thermal-hydrodynamic model by considering both evaporation atop the wick and nucleate boiling inside the wick to simultaneously predict the HTC and CHF. Nucleate boiling is modeled with microlayer evaporation theory, where a unified scaling factor is defined to characterize the change of microlayer area with heat flux. The scaling factor η is found to be independent of wicking structure and can be determined from a few measurements. This makes our model universal to predict the liquid film boiling heat transfer for various micro-structured surfaces including micropillar, micropowder, and micromesh. This work not only sheds light on understanding fundamental mechanisms of phase-change heat transfer, but also provides a tool for designing micro-structured surfaces in thermal management.

Investigation of HCAR2 antagonists as a potential strategy to modulate bovine leukocytes

Background Dairy cows experiencing ketosis after calving suffer greater disease incidence and are at greater risk of leaving the herd. In vitro administration of beta-hydroxybutyric acid(BHBA;the primary blood ketone) has inhibitory effects on the function of bovine leukocytes. BHBA is a ligand of HCAR2 and the activation of these receptors promotes an anti-inflammatory response which may be related with immunosuppression observed in transition dairy cattle. The objective of this study was to identify and test antagonists for HCAR2 in bovine immune cells cultured with *** We observed expression of HCAR2 at the protein level within lymphocytes, monocytes, and granulocytes. The proportion of cells expressing HCAR2 tended to be greater in mid-lactation compared to early lactation cows;the increase was a result of increased proportion of T and B cells expressing HCAR2. Stimulation of HCAR2 with niacin or BHBA promoted Ca^(2+) mobilization in neutrophils and mononuclear cells. Mononuclear cells treated with BHBA had diminished intracellular Ca^(2+) responses when HCAR2 was knocked down by si RNA silencing, indicating Ca^(2+) mobilization was mediated by HCAR2 signaling. Two candidate antagonists for HCAR2, synthesized from niacin(NA-1 and NA-5), were tested;monocytes and neutrophils pre-treated with NA-1 and NA-5 had reduced Ca^(2+) mobilization after incubation with BHBA. Furthermore, NA-5 but not NA-1 prevented BHBA-associated reductions in cyclic *** We demonstrated that HCAR2 is present on bovine leukocytes and has greater expression later in lactation. We confirmed that BHBA and niacin derived HCAR2 antagonists alter bovine leukocyte activity. Our results demonstrate that both BHBA and niacin affect bovine leukocyte Ca^(2+) mobilization in a HCAR2-dependent manner.

Implementing a new energy-saving electrochemical synthesis system with high commercial value is a strategy of the sustainable development for upgrading the bulk chemicals preparation technology in the ***,we report a multiple redox-mediated linear paired electrolysis system,combining the hydrogen peroxide mediated cathode process with the I2 mediated anode process,and realize the conversion of furfural to furoic acid in both side of the dividedﬂow cell *** reasonably controlling the cathode potential,the undesired water splitting reaction and furfural reduction side reactions are *** the galvanostatic electrolysis,the two-mediated electrode processes have good compatibility,which reduce the energy consumption by about 22%while improving the electronic efﬁciency by about 125%.This system provides a green electrochemical synthesis route with commercial prospects.

Dear Editor,This letter is concerned with the role of recurrent neural networks(RNNs)on the controller design for a class of nonlinear *** by the architectures of RNNs,the system states are stacked according to the dynamic along with time while the controller is represented as the neural network *** build the bridge between RNNs and finite-time controller,a novel activation function is imposed on RNNs to drive the convergence of states at finite-time and propel the overall control process *** stability proof is briefly provided for the convergence of the proposed finite-time *** last,a numerical simulation example is presented to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed *** networks can be classified as static(feedforward)and dynamic(recurrent)nets[1].The former nets do not perform well in dealing with training data and using any information of the local data structure[2].In contrast to the feedforward neural networks,RNNs are constituted by high dimensional hidden states with dynamics.

All-fluorinated electrolyte for non-flammable batteries with ultra-high specific capacity at 4.7 V

Li metal batteries （LMBs） with Li Ni0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2（NMC811） cathodes could release a specific energy of >500 Wh kg-1by increasing the charge ***,high-nickel cathodes working at high voltages accelerate degradations in bulk and at interfaces,thus significantly degrading the cycling lifespan and decreasing the specific ***,we rationally design an all-fluorinated electrolyte with addictive tri（2,2,2-trifluoroethyl） borate （TFEB）,based on 3,3,3-fluoroethylmethylcarbonate （FEMC） and fluoroethylene carbonate （FEC）,which enables stable cycling of high nickel cathode (Li Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2,NMC811) under a cut-off voltage of 4.7 V in Li metal *** electrolyte not only shows the fire-extinguishing properties,but also inhibits the transition metal dissolution,the gas production,side reactions on the cathode ***,the NMC811||Li cell demonstrates excellent performance by using limited Li and high-loading cathode,delivering a specific capacity>220 m A h g-1,an average Coulombic efficiency >99.6% and capacity retention >99.7% over 100 cycles.

Capacity degradation analysis and knee point prediction for lithium-ion batteries

Analyzing capacity degradation characteristics and accurately predicting the knee point of capacity are crucial for the safety management of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However,the degradation mechanism of LIBs is complex.A key but challenging problem is how to clarify the degradation mechanism and predict the knee *** to the external characteristics such as capacity decline gradievnt and the peak value of increment capacity curve(IC curve),the capacity degradation can be divided into four stages,including initial decline stage,slow decline stage,transition stage and high-speed decline *** degradation mechanism of LIBs is compared from the longitudinal and horizontal aspects,*** them,the battery usage from the initial stage to the end of life(EOL)is longitudinal *** battery under different conditions,such as charging and discharging,different discharge rate,different cathode material degradation mechanism is horizontal ***,a method based on neural network is proposed to predict the knee *** features are used to predict the capacity and cycle of the knee point,which are the gradient of the capacity degradation curve and the difference of the IC curve with the maximum *** experimental results show that a two-dimensional surface can be obtained using only the first 100 cycles,which can provide a reference for the position of the knee point accurately prediction.

Tunable artificial plasmonic nanolaser with wide spectrum emission operating at room temperature

With the rapid development of information and communication technology,a key objective in the field of optoelectronic integrated devices is to reduce the nano-laser size and energy *** nanolasers are unable to exceed the diffraction limit and typically exhibit low modulation rates of several *** contrast,plasmonic nanolaser utilizes highly confined surface plasmon polariton(SPP)mode that can exceed diffraction limit and their strong Purcell effect can accelerate the modulation rates to several ***,we propose a parametrically tunable artificial plasmonic nanolasers based on metal–insulator–semiconductor–insulator–metal(MISIM)structure,which demonstrates its ability to compress the mode field volume toλ/*** the pump power increases,the proposed artificial plasmonic nanolaser exhibits 20-nm-wide output ***,we investigate the effects of various cavity parameters on the nanolaser’s output threshold,offering potentials for realizing low-threshold artificial plasmonic ***,we observe a blue shift in the center wavelength of the nanolaser output with thinner gain layer thickness,predominantly attributed to the increased exciton–photon coupling *** work brings inspiration to several areas,including spaser-based interconnects,nano-LEDs,spontaneous emission control,miniaturization of photon condensates,eigenmode engineering of plasmonic nanolasers,and optimal design driven by artificial intelligence(AI).
