Integrated analysis of public datasets for the discovery and validation of survival-associated genes in solid tumors

Identifying genes with prognostic significance that can act as biomarkers in solid tumors can help stratify patients and uncover novel therapy ***,our goal was to expand our previous ranking analysis of survival-associated genes in various solid tumors to include colon cancer specimens with available transcriptomic and clinical data.A Gene Expression Omnibus search was performed to identify available datasets with clinical data and raw gene expression measurements.A combined database was set up and integrated into our Kaplan-Meier plotter,making it possible to identify genes with expression changes linked to altered *** a demonstration of the utility of the platform,the most powerful genes linked to overall survival in colon cancer were identified using uni-and multivariate Cox regression *** combined colon cancer database includes 2,137 tumor samples from 17 independent *** most significant genes associated with relapse-free survival with a false discovery rate below 1%in colon cancer carcinoma were RBPMS(hazard rate[HR]=2.52),TIMP1(HR=2.44),and COL4A2(HR=2.36).The three strongest genes associated with shorter survival in stage II colon cancer include CSF1R(HR=2.86),FLNA(HR=2.88),and TPBG(HR=2.65).In summary,a new integrated database for colon cancer is presented.A colon cancer analysis subsystem was integrated into our Kaplan-Meier plotter that can be used to mine the entire database(https://***).The portal has the potential to be employed for the identification and prioritization of promising biomarkers and therapeutic target candidates in multiple solid tumors including,among others,breast,lung,ovarian,gastric,pancreatic,and colon cancers.

Shell-model representations of the microscopic version of the Bohr-Mottelson collective model

The nuclear event risk(NER)is an important and disputed factor that should be reasonably considered when planning the pathway of nuclear power development(NPD)to assess the benefits and risks of developing nuclear power more *** paper aims to explore the impact of nuclear events on NPD pathway *** influence of nuclear events is quantified as a monetary risk component,and an optimization model that incorporates the NER in the objective function is *** optimize the pathway of NPD in the lowcarbon transition course of power supply structure evolution,a simulation model is built to deduce alternative NPD pathways and corresponding power supply evolution scenarios under the constraint of an exogenously assigned carbon emission pathway(CEP);moreover,a method is proposed to describe the CEP by superimposing the maximum carbon emission space and each carbon emission reduction(CER)component,and various CER components are clustered considering the emission reduction characteristics and resource endowments of different power generation technologies.A case study is conducted to explore the impact of NER and its risk valuation uncertainty on NPD pathway *** method presented in this paper allows the impact of nuclear events on NPD pathway planning to be quantified and improves the level of coordinated optimization of benefits and risks.

An improved simple model for α decay half-lives

In this paper,using theαparticle preformation probabilities Pαfrom Xu et al.[Xu and Ren,***.A 760,303(2005)],which were extracted by fitting experimental half-lives ofαdecay,based on a phenomenological harmonic oscillator potential model(HOPM)[Bayrak,J Phys G 47,025102(2020)],refitting 178αdecay half-lives of even-even nuclei obtained from the latest nuclear property table NUBASE2020,we obtain the only one adjustable parameter V0-162.6 MeV in the HOPM,i.e.,the depth of nuclear *** corresponding root-mean-square(rms)deviation isσ-***,to consider the contribution of centrifugal potential to unfavoredαdecay half-lives,adding a new term■(d and l are the adjustable parameter and orbital angular momentum carried away by emittedαparticle)to the logarithmic form of favoredαdecay half-lives under the HOPM framework,we propose an improved simple model(ISM)for calculating favored and unfavoredαdecay *** the experimental half-lives of 205 unfavoredαdecay,we obtain *** ISM is used to calculate the unfavoredαdecay half-lives of 128 odd-A and 77 odd-odd *** results improve by 54.2%and 53.6%,respectively,compared with *** addition,we extend the ISM to predict theαdecay half-lives of 144 nuclei with Z=117,118,119,and *** comparison,the improved model with eight parameters(DUR)proposed by Deng et al.[Deng,***.C 101,034307(2020)]and the modified universal decay law(MUDL)proposed by Soylu et al.[Soylu,***.A 1013,122221(2021)]are also *** predictions of these models and/or formulas are generally consistent with each other.

Systematic study of cluster radioactivity in trans-lead nuclei with various versions of proximity potential formalisms

In this study,based on the framework of the Coulomb and proximity potential model(CPPM),we systematically investigate the cluster radioactivity half-lives of 26 trans-lead nuclei by considering the cluster preformation probability,which possesses a simple mass dependence on the emitted cluster according to *** and ***[***.61,1930(1988)].Moreover,we investigate 28 different versions of the proximity potential formalisms,which are the most complete known proximity potential formalisms proposed to describe proton radioactivity,two-proton radioactivity,αdecay,heavy-ion radioactivity,quasi-elastic scattering,fusion reactions,and other *** calculated results show that the modified forms of proximity potential 1977,denoted as Prox.77-12,and proximity potential 1981,denoted as Prox.81,are the most appropriate proximity potential formalisms for the study of cluster radioactivity,as the root-mean-square deviation between experimental data and relevant theoretical results obtained is the least;both values are *** comparison,the universal decay law(UDL)proposed by Qi et al.[***.C 80,044326(2009)],unified formula of half-lives forαdecay and cluster radioactivity proposed by Ni et al.[***.C 78,044310(2008)],and scaling law(SL)in cluster radioactivity proposed by Horoi et al.[***.G 30,945(2004)]are also *** addition,utilizing CPPM with Prox.77-12,Prox.77-1,Prox.77-2,and Prox.81,we predict the half-lives of 51 potential cluster radioactive candidates whose cluster radioactivity is energetically allowed or observed but not yet quantified in *** predicted results are in the same order of magnitude as those obtained using the compared semi-empirical and/or empirical *** the same time,the competition betweenαdecay and cluster radioactivity of these predicted nuclei is *** comparing the half-lives,this study reveals thatαdecay predominates.

In this study,proton emission half-lives were investigated for deformed proton emitters with 53≤Z≤83based on the presented deformed Gamow-like model,where the deformation effect was included in the Coulomb *** experimental half-lives of proton emitters can be reproduced within a factor of *** comparison,the results from the universal decay law and the new Geiger-Nuttall law are also ***,the relevance of the half-lives to the angular momentum l for ^(117)La,^(121)Pr,^(135)Tb,and ^(141)Ho were analyzed,and the corresponding possible values of l were proposed:l=3,3,4,4.

In this work,considering the preformation factor of the emitted two protons in parent nucleus S_(2p) and the effect of the parent nucleus deformation,based on the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin approximation and Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization condition,we improve a simple phenomenological model proposed by Bayrak[***.G:47,025102(2020)]to systematically study 2p radioactivity *** model contains two adjustable parameters V_(0) and a_(β),which are related to the depth of nuclear potential and effect of *** calculated results show that this model can effectively reproduce the experimental data with a corresponding root-mean-square(RMS)standard deviation of σ=*** comparison,we include the Gamow-like model(GLM)proposed by Liu et al.[***.C 45,044110(2021)],generalized liquid drop model(GLDM)proposed by Cui et al.[***.C 101,014301(2020)],effective liquid drop model(ELDM)proposed by *** et al.[***.B 774,14(2017)],two-potential approach with Skyrme-Hartree-Fock(TPASHF)proposed by Pan et al.[***.C 45,124104(2021)],phenomenological model with a screened electrostatic barrier(SEB)propoesed by Zou et al.[***.C 45,104101(2021)],unified fission model(UFM)proposed by Xing et al.[***.C 45,124105(2021)],Coulomb and proximity potential model for deformed nuclei(CPPMDN)proposed by Santhosh[***.C 104,064613(2021)],two-parameter empirical formula proposed by Liu et al.[***.C 45,024108(2021)],and four-parameter empirical formula proposed by Sreeja et al.[***.J.A 55,33(2019)].In addition,we use this model to 2p predict the radioactive half-lives of some possible potential nuclei whose 2p radioactivity are energetically allowed or observed but not yet quantified in NUBASE2020.

Unraveling the role of formate in improving nitrogen removal via coupled partial denitrification-anammox

The addition of traditional carbon sources(e.g.,acetate)could favor heterotrophic overgrowth in partial denitrification coupled with anammox(PD–A)systems,thus hindering the performance and stability of this novel wastewater nitrogen removal ***,it is necessary to develop an effective,environmentally friendly,and inexpensive *** study demonstrated the potential of formate to enhance the performance and community stability of PD–A under mainstream *** a laboratory-scale biofilm reactor,formate addition(COD/NO_(3)^(–)–N=1.75)improved nitrogen removal efficiency(from 72.1±3.5%to 81.7±2.7%),EPS content(from 106.3±8.1 to 163.0±15.5 mg/gVSS)and increased anammox bacteria growth(predominantly Candidatus Brocadia,from 29.5±0.7%to 34.5±5.4%)while maintaining stable heterotrophs dominated by methylotrophic ***–NanoSIMS revealed a formate uptake using *** and Desulfobacillus,with *** being the major contributor to partial nitrate reduction to *** can synthesize diverse hydrophobic amino acids and provide key nutrients for *** achieve comparable nitrogen removal,the cost of the formate-driven PD–A process should be 11.2%lower than that of *** results greatly enrich our understanding of C1 metabolism represented by formate in anammox communities and its application in the context of coupling partial denitrification–anammox toward enhanced nitrogen removal in global wastewater treatment systems.

Unconfined compressive strength and failure behaviour of completely weathered granite from a fault zone

Understanding the strength characteristics and deformation behaviour of the tunnel surrounding rock in a fault zone is significant for tunnel stability *** this study,a series of unconfined compression tests were conducted to investigate the mechanical characteristics and failure behaviour of completely weathered granite(CWG)from a fault zone,considering with height-diameter(h/d)ratio,dry densities(ρd)and moisture contents(ω).Based on the experimental results,a regression mathematical model of unconfined compressive strength(UCS)for CWG was developed using the Multiple Nonlinear Regression method(MNLR).The research results indicated that the UCS of the specimen with a h/d ratio of 0.6 decreased with the increase ofω.When the h/d ratio increased to 1.0,the UCS increasedωwith up to 10.5%and then ***ρd is conducive to the improvement of the UCS at anyω.The deformation and rupture process as well as final failure modes of the specimen are controlled by h/d ratio,ρd andω,and the h/d ratio is the dominant factor affecting the final failure mode,followed byωandρ*** specimens with different h/d ratio exhibited completely different fracture mode,i.e.,typical splitting failure(h/d=0.6)and shear failure(h/d=1.0).By comparing the experimental results,this regression model for predicting UCS is accurate and reliable,and the h/d ratio is the dominant factor affecting the UCS of CWG,followed byρd and thenω.These findings provide important references for maintenance of the tunnel crossing other fault fractured zones,especially at low confining pressure or unconfined condition.

Frost Resistance of Pervious Concrete Mixed with Waste Glass Powder

The contents of waste glass powder(WGP)(0%,10%,15%,20%,25%)and water-binder ratio(W/C)(0.24,0.26,0.28)were used as influencing factors,and the quality loss rate(Δm)and compressive strength loss rate(Δfc)were used as characterization *** Ca/Si ratio and main element contents of C-S-H gels with different WGP content were investigated by energy dispersive spectrometry(EDS).The pore structure evolution characteristics of WGP composite cementing materials were investigated by low field nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR).UsingΔfc as the index of frost resistance degradation and Weibull function,the frost resistance degradation of glass doped pervious concrete(WGP-PC)was *** results show that,with WGP,for the same number of cycles,Δm andΔfc decrease and increase with the increase of *** the same WGP content,Δm andΔfc decrease first and then increase with the increase of W/*** 100 freeze-thaw cycles,the samples with WGP content of 20%and W/C of 0.26 have the best *** tests show that with the increase of WGP content,the Ca/Si ratio of C-S-H gel decreases at first and then increases with the increase of WGP *** extreme value of Ca/Si is 2.36 when WGP is added by 20%.The pore volume of hardened paste with 20%WGP content decreased by 18.6%compared with that of cement system without *** overall compactness of the specimen was *** the basis of the test data,a life prediction model was established according to Weibull *** experiment showed thatΔfc could be used as a durability degradation index,and the slope of the reliability curve became gentle after WGP was added,which reduced the damage degradation rate of PC.W/C was ***'s about 5000 hours.
