Low-temperature chlorination roasting technology for the simultaneous recovery of valuable metals from spent LiCoO_(2)cathode material

With the continuous increase in the disposal volume of spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),properly recycling spent LIBs has become essential for the advancement of the circular *** study presents a systematic analysis of the chlorination roasting kinetics and proposes a new two-step chlorination roasting process that integrates thermodynamics for the recycling of LIB cathode *** activation energy for the chloride reaction was 88.41 kJ/mol according to thermogravimetric analysis–derivative thermogravimetry data obtained by using model-free,model-fitting,and Z(α)function(αis conversion rate).Results indicated that the reaction was dominated by the first-order(F1)model when the conversion rate was less than or equal to 0.5 and shifted to the second-order(F2)model when the conversion rate exceeded *** conditions were determined by thoroughly investigating the effects of roasting temperature,roasting time,and the mass ratio of NH_(4)Cl to LiCoO_(2).Under the optimal conditions,namely 400℃,20 min,and NH_(4)Cl/LiCoO_(2)mass ratio of 3:1,the leaching efficiency of Li and Co reached 99.43% and 99.05%,*** of the roasted products revealed that valuable metals in LiCoO_(2)transformed into CoCl_(2) and ***,the reaction mechanism was elucidated,providing insights for the establishment of a novel low-temperature chlorination roasting technology based on a crystal structure *** technology can guide the development of LIB recycling processes with low energy consumption,low secondary pollution,high recovery efficiency,and high added value.

Effect of lamellarization on the microstructure and mechanical properties of marine 10Ni5CrMoV steel

Multistage heat treatment involving quenching(Q), lamellarizing(L), and tempering(T) is applied to marine 10Ni5CrMoV steel. The microstructure and mechanical properties were studied by multiscale characterizations, and the kinetics of reverse austenite transformation, strain hardening behavior, and toughening mechanism were further investigated. The lamellarized specimens possess low yield strength but high toughness, especially cryogenic toughness. Lamellarization leads to the development of film-like reversed austenite at the martensite block and lath boundaries, refining the martensite structure and lowering the equivalent grain size. Kinetic analysis of austenite reversion based on the JMAK model shows that the isothermal transformation is dominated by the growth of reversed austenite,and the maximum transformation of reversed austenite is reached at the peak temperature(750°C). The strain hardening behavior based on the modified Crussard–Jaoul analysis indicates that the reversed austenite obtained from lamellarization reduces the proportion of martensite, significantly hindering crack propagation via martensitic transformation during the deformation. As a consequence, the QLT specimens exhibit high machinability and low yield strength. Compared with the QT specimen, the ductile–brittle transition temperature of the QLT specimens decreases from-116 to-130°C due to the low equivalent grain size and reversed austenite, which increases the cleavage force required for crack propagation and absorbs the energy of external load, respectively. This work provides an idea to improve the cryogenic toughness of marine 10Ni5CrMoV steel and lays a theoretical foundation for its industrial application and comprehensive performance improvement.

Solubility of RE_2O_3(RE=La and Nd) in light rare earth fluoride molten salts

The chemical reaction and dissolution processes of RE2 O3 in REF3-LiF（RE = La and Nd） molten salts were studied by X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis and chemical analysis. Firstly, RE2 O3 disperses in molten salts and reacts with REF3 and LiF, which lead to the generation of a new phase REOF, resulting in the dissociation or formation of complex ions by part of REOF, and the sedimentation of excessive REOF at the bottom. The RE contents in molten salts were used to determine the solubility of RE2 O3. The results show that with 20 mol%-40 mol% of REF3, the solubility ranges from 1.79 to 3.05 g RE2 O3 per100 g electrolyte and the corresponding mole concentration is 0.33%-0.87%. RE2 O3 solubility increases with increasing temperature and REF3 concentration. The natural logarithm of the RE2 O3 solubility is plotted against 1/T and can be interpreted by linear relationship. The fitting parameters can be used to estimate the solubility of RE2 O3 with minimized experimental efforts and difficult experiment conditions.

Modelling Effect of Circulation Flow Rate on Inclusion Removal in RH Degasser

Based on the similarity principles, a 1 ： 7 scale physical model was established to study the behavior of molten steel flow and inclusion removal in a 145 t Rheinsahl-Heraeus （RH） degasser. On the basis of the quantitative measurements of the circulation flow rate and inclusion removal under various lifting gas flow rates, the effect of circulation flow rate on inclusion removal was investigated in the RH degasser. The inclusion removal rate shows the trend of first increase and then decrease twice with increasing the circulation flow rate when the circulation flow rates are smaller than 104.7 L/min. Whereas, the inclusion removal rate increases again with the further increase in circu- lation flow rate when the circulation flow rate is larger than 104.7 L/min. At lower circulation flow rates, inclusions are mainly removed by Stokes flotation to the slag/steel interface after inclusions are transferred near the slag/steel interface by the circulation flow. At higher circulation flow rates, the collision and aggregation of inclusions improves the inclusion removal efficiency. With the further increase in the circulation flow rate, inclusions are mainly removed by following the turbulent fluctuation （turbulent diffusion） to the slag/steel interface after inclusions are transferred near the slag/steel interface by the circulation flow.

Effects of smelting parameters on the slag/metal separation behaviors of Hongge vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite metallized pellets obtained from the gas-based direct reduction process

Smelting separations of Hongge vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite metallized pellets（HVTMP）prepared by gas-based direct reduction were investigated,and the effects of smelting parameters on the slag/metal separation behaviors were *** mechanisms were elucidated using X-ray diffraction analysis,FACTSAGE 7.0 calculations,and scanning electron microscopy *** results show that,when the smelting temperature,time,and C/O ratio are increased,the recoveries of V and Cr of HVTMP in pig iron are improved,the recovery of Fe initially increases and subsequently decreases,and the recovery of Ti O_2 in slag *** the smelting Ca O/Si O_2 ratio is increased,the recoveries of Fe,V,and Cr in pig iron increase and the recovery of Ti O_2 in slag initially increases and subsequently *** appropriate smelting separation parameters for HVTMP are as follows：smelting temperature of 1873 K;smelting time of 30–50 min;C/O ratio of 1.25;and Ca O/Si O_2 ratio of *** these optimized parameters（smelting time：30 min）,the recoveries of Fe,V,Cr,and Ti O_2 are 99.5%,91.24%,92.41%,and 94.86%,respectively.

Magnetizing roast and magnetic separation of iron in rare-earth tailings

Magnetic separation of iron in rare-earth tailings was achieved by magnetizing roast process with coal as reductant. Effects of the temperature, carbon to oxygen ratio, and cooling type on magnetic susceptibility and composition of rare-earth tailings were investigated. The results show that roast conditions with the temperature of 650℃, carbon to oxygen ratio of 3.85, and holding time of 2.5 h are in favor of reduction of Fe_2O_3 to Fe_3O_4 when the roasted rare-earth tailings is cooled along with furnace. Under these roast conditions, magnetic susceptibility of rare-earth tailings is 2.36 that is very close to theoretical value（2.33）. However, magnetic separation results of iron in rare-earth tailings cooled along with furnace are not satisfactory. Through comparing magnetic separation results of iron in rare-earth tailings cooled by different ways, it is found that water cooling is more favored of magnetic separation of iron in the roasted rare-earth tailings than furnace cooling and air cooling. Grade and recovery of iron in concentrate from rare-earth tailings cooled by water are 45.00%-49.00% and 65.00%-77.50%, respectively.

Effects of MgO and TiO_2 on the viscous behaviors and phase compositions of titanium-bearing slag

The effects of MgO and TiO_2 on the viscosity, activation energy for viscous flow, and break-point temperature of titanium-bearing slag were studied. The correlation between viscosity and slag structure was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared（FTIR） spectroscopy. Subsequently, main phases in the slag and their content changes were investigated by X-ray diffraction and Factsage 6.4 software package. The results show that the viscosity decreases when the MgO content increases from 10.00wt% to 14.00wt%. Moreover, the break-point temperature increases, and the activation energy for viscous flow initially increases and subsequently decreases. In addition, with increasing TiO_2 content from 5.00wt% to 9.00wt%, the viscosity decreases, and the break-point temperature and activation energy for viscous flow initially decrease and subsequently increase. FTIR analyses reveal that the polymerization degree of complex viscous units in titanium-bearing slag decreases with increasing MgO and TiO_2 contents. The mechanism of viscosity variation was elucidated. The basic phase in experimental slags is melilite. Besides, as the MgO content increases, the amount of magnesia–alumina spinel in the slag increases. Similarly, the sum of pyroxene and perovskite phases in the slag increases with increasing TiO_2 content.
