Here we report a new iguanodontian dentary found from the Lower Cretaceous Khok Kruat Formation,Nakhon Ratchasima,northeast Thailand.A unique character,which is an elongated and flat shape of the dentary ramus,makes it possible to assign the specimen to the new genus of non-hadrosaurid iguanodontian,Ratchasimasaurus suranareae *** *** shows both primitive and derived characters,such as a caudally inclined coronoid process and alveolar trough with a primitive crown impression,and a derived buccal shelf between tooth row and coronoid *** discovery of a new iguanodontian from the Indochina Terrene,considering that the previously reported 'Probactrosaurus-like' iguanodontian,points out a great diversity of this group in the late Early Cretaceous in Thailand,and corresponds to the Asian iguanodontian diversity at that time.

A sedimentary profile exposed in soil quarries a few kilometers north of Noen Sa-nga district,Chaiyaphum province,NE Thailand,reveals a Quaternary geological *** lower part of the soil profile is a gravel deposit characterized by sub-angular to well-rounded pebbles representing an abandoned river sedimentary *** gravel bed in some places is coated by iron oxide as a thin layer of ferricrete at the uppermost *** upper part of the soil profile is a bright reddish brown structureless sand deposit with fining upward sedimentary structure at the basal portion,the Yasothon soil series.A piece of tektite was discovered at the contact boundary between the two sedimentary *** is characterized by an irregular shape with a smooth concaved surface regarding as an external mold of a piece of well-rounded *** piece of tektite indicates that a solidified tektite had fallen from high sky then was remelted into a plastic form prior to reach and partly cover a piece of well-rounded *** evidences suggest that there was a meteoritic or cometary impact on our earth surface somewhere in the region then catapulted numbers of melted silica ejecta with vast volume of dust into the *** melted silica ejecta were solidified into splash-form tektites with various shapes while they were in the high *** that the tektites had fallen down and remelted into a plastic form prior to reach the ground surface and then solidified as a tektite deposit followed by larger-sized sediments and angular quartz fragments forming a fining upward sedimentary *** finer sediments were gradually settled down forming a bright reddish brown structureless sand deposit,the Yasothon soil *** meteoritic impact event occurred at about 0.77 Ma ago as the evidence of the previous tektite radiometric dating.

The lower central plain of Thailand is characterized by a flat, low-lying area in the central region bound by mountain to the west, north and east and connected to a coastal shoreline of the Gulf of Thailand to the south as a sedimentary basin containing a thick sequence of Quaternary sediments. The present study focused on the Bangkok Clay, a dark grey to black, soft marine clay sandwiched between thin layers of peat and fluvial sediments. The Bangkok Clay is about 25 meters thick in the middle portion of the shoreline, tapering towards the basin margin to the west, north and east forming a half lens-shaped, dark grey clay body. The Bangkok Clay contains abundant and diverse organic remains including vertebrates, invertebrates, plants and microscopic algae. Palynological analysis has yielded diverse assemblages of pollen, spores and diatoms. The pollen and spores include several types of Avicenniaceae, Brownlowia sp., Combretaceae, Cyperaceae, Myrtaceae, Pinaeeae, Poaeeae, Rhizophoraceae, Sonneratiaceae, Xylocarpus sp., Acrostichum spp., Gleicheniaceae and Stenochlaena palustris. In addition, coastal diatoms derived from the palynological slides include Diploneis elliptica, Tryblionella cocconeiformis, Coscinodiscus radiata, Nitzchia sp., Tryblionella cf. compressa, Coscinodiscus sp., Paralia sulcata, Actinocyclus sp., Triceratium reticulum, Surirella sp., Cocconeis costata, and Thalassiosira sp. The Bangkok Clay was, therefore, formed in intertidal and shallow subtidal environments under a tropical moist climate. The Bangkok Clay is sandwiched between two thin peat layers. The basal peat developed through continuous accumulation of plant debris along the shoreline during the marine transgression of the Late Pleistocene to Early Holocene （ca. 8,000-7,000 years ago） whereas the upper peat formed during the Early Holocene to present day marine regression. A new vertebrate fossil site, “Phu Sung” in Sakon Nakhon Province was discovered. Various vertebrate fossils belonging to fresh water shark, bony fish, turtle, crocodile and dinosaur were found in reddish silty mudstone of the Early Cretaceous Sao Khua Formation of the Khorat Group. Crocodilian remains including a complete skull and partial articulated skeleton are very well preserved associated with turtle remains. Moreover, well preserved 19 turtle shells were found accumulated together. These discoveries will certainly fulfill our knowledge about these aquatic taxa from the Early Cretaceous Sao Khua Formation. The exceptional preservation of Phu Sung fossils could probably relate to the paleoenvironment in the Early Cretaceous of Thailand.

Nine fossil wood samples from the Mesozoic bedrock and the Quaternary terrace deposits of the Lower Mekong Basin in Southeast Asia including Thailand,Laos and Cambodia were investigated in order to assist in developing a hypothesis about the Mekong River palaeocourses. Six of the samples were conifers assigned to Aga-thoxylon sp.,and three were dicots of cf. Pahudioxylon sp. and two unknown taxa( Dicotyloxylon sp.).The preservation of two dicotyledonous wood samples is insufficient for precise identification to family level,such that the samples are not suitable with respect to investigation of the river palaeocourse. However,these findings increase the systematic data of the fossil wood from the Mekong Basin. Further investigations of fossil wood from the Mekong Basin are in progress to gain a regional perspective on the plant communities and to form better reconstruction of the palaeoenvironment.

泰国东北部柯叻府及邻区中-新生代木化石非常丰富并保存有完好的解剖构造,是探究热带植被历史、古气候演化以及古环境变迁等问题的重要实证材料.最近的野外调查和专题研究确认该地区中-新生代木化石11科19属约50个种或种级分类单元,分别隶属于裸子植物和被子植物两大分类群,其中有5科7属20种(包括未定种)为前人在泰国未曾报道的类型.当前木材化石群揭示出在中生代后期,泰国东北部热带针叶树植被以南洋杉科为主;在中新世-更新世时期,该地区主要发育落叶和常绿阔叶树植被,代表热带气候环境.

Diverse and rich fossil wood records have been documented from the Mesozoic of Liaoning Province, NE China. The Tiaojishan Formation(mainly distributed in Beipiao, Chaoyang, Fuxin and Jianchang regions) is one of the most significant horizons for the Jurassic petrified wood in Liaoning Province. Previously, wood fossils of this formation were mainly reported in Beipiao and Chaoyang regions, whereas fossil wood record was merely known in Jianchang region. Here we describe new fossil wood specimens from the Tiaojishan Formation in Jianchang County, western Liaoning. Two fossil wood taxa, i.e., Protaxodioxylon jianchangense Tian et Wang sp. nov. and Xenoxylon peidense Zheng et Zhang were recognized on the basis of anatomical features. These fossil wood records add new data for understanding the fossil wood diversity, floral composition and palaeoclimate of the Tiaojishan Formation. The occurrence of Xenoxylon and Protaxodioxylon implies a cool temperate, wet and seasonal climate condition with interannual variations during the Middle to Late Jurassic transition in western Liaoning region.

文章报道了云南元谋盆地上中新统小河组芝麻大村小夹巷巷地点的脊棱齿象属（Stegolophodon）的新化石材料：包括一完整的、轻度磨耗的左上第二臼齿,和一不完整的、重度磨耗的右上第三臼齿.第二臼齿和第三臼齿主齿柱中附锥和前中心小尖愈合;后中心小尖很弱小;前二脊发育中沟,且几乎排成一条直线,仅主齿柱的中附锥比主尖略微靠前;第三臼齿的后三脊略向前弯.这些特征与西瓦利克道克派珊组的剑齿象型脊棱齿象（Stegolophodon stegodontoides）形态上十分相似,可归为同一种.元谋盆地小河组此前发现的所谓“Stegolophodon banguoensis”和“Stegolophodon ***”经比较均可以归为此种.小河组的磁性地层年代约为8.3～ 7.2Ma,而相距不远的昭通盆地出产最原始的剑齿象Stegodon zhaotongensis的层位的磁性地层年代约为6.5～***,因此,剑齿象型脊棱齿象代表了脊棱齿象演化到晚中新世中期的进步类型,此后,脊棱齿象便迅速演化为剑齿象.小河组的剑齿象型脊棱齿象的新材料,能为这一幕演化历史提供生物年代学和形态学的双重证据.
