To secure power system operations,practical dispatches in industries place a steady power transfer limit on critical inter-corridors,rather than high-dimensional and strong nonlinear stability ***,computational complexities lead to over-conservative pre-settings of transfer limit,which further induce undesirable and non-technical congestion of power *** conquer this barrier,a scenario-classification hybrid-based banding method is proposed.A cluster technique is adopted to separate similarities from historical and generated operating condition *** a practical rule,transfer limits are approximated for each operating ***,toward an interpretable online transfer limit decision,costsensitive learning is applied to identify cluster affiliation to assign a transfer limit for a given *** this stage,critical variables that affect the transfer limit are also picked out via mean impact *** enables us to construct low-complexity and dispatcher-friendly rules for fast determination of transfer *** numerical case studies on the IEEE 39-bus system and a real-world regional power system in china illustrate the effectiveness and conservativeness of the proposed method.

Analytic Formulae for Estimating Motor Proportion of Load Model Under Small Disturbance

In the composite load model(CLM),which is commonly used in china,an equivalent motor and equivalent static load are used to represent all electrical equipment and networks connected to a load *** research has determined typical values of electrical and mechanical parameters for load models of different load types,which improves the basis for load ***,the motor proportion parameter is not the same for different load buses or at different times;therefore,obtaining the actual motor proportion is key to establishing an accurate load *** the existing load modeling method,motor proportion is commonly identified along with other parameters under rare large disturbances;therefore,the value of the motor proportion is fixed by the time when a large disturbance *** this paper,formulae are derived to estimate motor proportion under small disturbances,and these formulae allow direct calculation of motor proportion without using any optimization *** proposed estimation formulae do not rely on any parameters of load model or power system but instead rely only on measurement of the voltage and active power at steady-state points before and after a small *** of universality of small disturbances in power systems,estimating time-varying motor proportion under small disturbances will be helpful for solving the time-varying problem of load ***,the proposed motor proportion estimation formulae are validated by simulations,physical experiments,and field experiments.

The nuclear event risk(NER)is an important and disputed factor that should be reasonably considered when planning the pathway of nuclear power development(NPD)to assess the benefits and risks of developing nuclear power more *** paper aims to explore the impact of nuclear events on NPD pathway *** influence of nuclear events is quantified as a monetary risk component,and an optimization model that incorporates the NER in the objective function is *** optimize the pathway of NPD in the lowcarbon transition course of power supply structure evolution,a simulation model is built to deduce alternative NPD pathways and corresponding power supply evolution scenarios under the constraint of an exogenously assigned carbon emission pathway(CEP);moreover,a method is proposed to describe the CEP by superimposing the maximum carbon emission space and each carbon emission reduction(CER)component,and various CER components are clustered considering the emission reduction characteristics and resource endowments of different power generation technologies.A case study is conducted to explore the impact of NER and its risk valuation uncertainty on NPD pathway *** method presented in this paper allows the impact of nuclear events on NPD pathway planning to be quantified and improves the level of coordinated optimization of benefits and risks.

Improved Unit Commitment with Accurate Dynamic Scenarios Clustering Based on Multi-Parametric Programming and Benders Decomposition

Stochastic unit commitment is one of the most powerful methods to address uncertainty. However, the existingscenario clustering technique for stochastic unit commitment cannot accurately select representative scenarios,which threatens the robustness of stochastic unit commitment and hinders its application. This paper providesa stochastic unit commitment with dynamic scenario clustering based on multi-parametric programming andBenders decomposition. The stochastic unit commitment is solved via the Benders decomposition, which decouplesthe primal problem into the master problem and two types of subproblems. In the master problem, the committedgenerator is determined, while the feasibility and optimality of generator output are checked in these twosubproblems. Scenarios are dynamically clustered during the subproblem solution process through the multiparametric programming with respect to the solution of the master problem. In other words, multiple scenariosare clustered into several representative scenarios after the subproblem is solved, and the Benders cut obtainedby the representative scenario is generated for the master problem. Different from the conventional stochasticunit commitment, the proposed approach integrates scenario clustering into the Benders decomposition solutionprocess. Such a clustering approach could accurately cluster representative scenarios that have impacts on theunit commitment. The proposed method is tested on a 6-bus system and the modified IEEE 118-bus *** results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in clustering scenarios. Compared withthe conventional clustering method, the proposed method can accurately select representative scenarios whilemitigating computational burden, thus guaranteeing the robustness of unit commitment.
