In an effort to investigate the status of human exposure to PBDEs in China,available monitoring data in human specimens(including breast milk,serums,and blood) was collected from the general population as well as specific groups that are occupationally *** exposure profiles and concentration levels were compared with their counterparts in the United States of *** was found that PBDE burdens in general Chinese population are one order lower and have different congener profiles from that in the US,showing higher percentages of BDE-28 or BDE-153 in human specimens from *** and residents in electronic wastes recycling regions or areas of commercial PBDE manufacturing have the highest PBDE exposure levels reported worldwide,which are close or higher than the exposure levels of the general population in the US. Highly brominated congeners,such as BDE-207 and 209,are among the major PBDE congeners,and BDE-209 has the highest percentage(above 50%) for all occupational populations *** components analysis(PCA) demonstrates that the exposure of the general population in the US is closely related to penta-BDE while the human burden in China is *** PBDE in indoor air(gas phase) in the US is highly correlated with the PBDE burden in the general population in the US,indicating a major exposure *** the occupationally exposed populations in China,the congener profiles are closely related to the commercial deca-BDE *** of exposure profiles for general and occupational populations in China suggests that it is essential to include more highly brominated congeners,such as BDE-207 and 209,in future human exposure studies,in order to assess the real burdens and profiles of PBDEs exposure in *** pollution prevention and occupational protection procedures are in need in China to avoid the PBDE contamination problem that has occurred in the US.

Global health degree programs are now offered by institutions of higher education in most world *** on our review of the curricula for many of these programs,we identified five domains that are central to current global health education.“Parity”emphasizes health equity as the ultimate goal of global health.“People”comprises the social,economic,cultural,and political contributors to health and access to medical care for individuals and communities.“Planet”encompasses various aspects of globalization and environmental health that affect population health.“Priorities”and“practices”include the values,data,and tools used to design,implement,and evaluate partnerships,policies,programs,and other global health interventions in countries of all income *** pandemic is likely to increase student demand for global health education from the undergraduate through the graduate and professional ***“5 Ps model of global health education”provides a comprehensive framework for the core student learning objectives for global health *** of each of these domains is essential for preparing students for meaningful experiential learning and skilled professional practice in global health.

This article addresses the important role school health education program can play in reducing youth risky behaviors that lead to incarceration, diseases and fatalities or that impact their academic performance in school. Children growing up are at risks of exposure to different behaviors and common social influences which if unchecked result in unexpected health consequences common among youth in America today. According to US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, the six leading behaviors that cause death, disability, and social problems among American children are: unintentional injuries and violence, alcohol and drug use, tobacco use, unhealthy diets, inadequate physical activities, and sexual behaviors and diseases. This article shows that school health program: 1) can provide the foundation for children to learn desired healthy behaviors in order to preserve life, 2) protects the future of children and that of the nation, 3) can teach students skills to recognize risky behaviors and resist them, 4) can boost community efforts to achieve desired health behaviors, 5) closes socio-economic gaps that interfere with basic nurturing of children, and 6) finally links local stakeholders as partners in promoting community safety. Through review of literature, the authors found that it costs ($588) daily or (214,620) annually to incarcerate a juvenile and only $75 daily for the cost of individualized community-based services. The cost to New York is over $900,000, yet does not address the causative issues. The authors recommend that schools teach comprehensive school health from kindergarten to grade 12 and employ health educators to support teachers teach health promotion and education.

SpART: Bringing People Together Through Sport and Art

SpART was a one-year part time artist residency whose goal was to engage members of a recreational community center in making artistic expressions of the sports they participated in Over 200 participants actively engaged and over a thousand members of the public saw and watched their art works. Overall, participation was enthusiastic. The project demonstrated how art could be introduced in daily operations of a sport-focused community center. A video of sporting memories highlighted the benefits of sport in building community, friendships and maintaining health. Space and time were limitations.

Recent work has shown that the vaginal microbiome exerts a strong impact on women's gynecological ***,collection of vaginal specimens is invasive and requires previous clinical training or the involvement of a trained *** contrast,urine sample collection is routine and noninvasive and does not require involvement of a *** sought to compare the vaginal and urogenital microbiomes to assess the utility of voided urine samples as a proxy for the vaginal *** urogenital and vaginal samples were collected from pregnant women and characterized by 16S rRNA taxonomic *** examined diversities and compositions of paired urogenital and vaginal microbiomes using five discrete strategies to explore the similarity between the vaginal and urogenital microbiomes.A strategy comparing the paired urogenital and vaginal microbiomes in which taxa were assigned using the STIRRUPS database and urine-specific taxa were removed showed no significant difference in diversity and composition between the paired urogenital and vaginal ***,the relative abundances of common vaginal taxa were linearly correlated with those in the paired *** similarities suggest that voided urine samples could represent a noninvasive protocol for accurate profiling of the vaginalmicrobiome with likely clinical ***,a machine learning model was established in which the voided urine microbiome was compared favorably to the vaginal microbiome in predicting bacterial vaginosis.

Background:Discordance in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)staging between pre-transplant imaging and explant pathology is associated with an increased risk of recurrence and *** aim was to evaluate variables that predicted concordance/discordance in the era of new generation locoregional therapies(LRT)and improved radiologic technology in ***:A single-center retrospective study was performed on patients who received a liver transplant for HCC between ***-and post-LT variables,including type of LRT,downstaging(DS),transplant time period,and radiologic response to LRT,were analyzed for concordance/***-Meier analysis was used to assess post-LT ***:Of 146 patients transplanted within Milan Criteria(MC),discordance rates(understaged)were 45%.Discordance was associated with≥3 HCC lesions at diagnosis but not newer generation LRT(transarterial radioembolization/stereotactic body radiation therapy),traditional LRT or *** differences in discordance were seen between transplant periods(2008-2013 vs.2014-2019),but those within MC in the earlier period had higher concordance rates.A trend was observed between DS and ***:HCC stage discordance remains common and poorly *** was associated with three or more HCC lesions at the time of *** within MC transplanted between 2008-2013 was associated with concordance,while a trend was noted between DS and *** other pre-or post-LT variables predicted discordance/*** was associated with decreased survival.

Atmospheric pressure plasma-liquid interactions exist in a variety of applications,including wastewater treatment,wound sterilization,and *** practice,the phenomenon of liquid surface depression will inevitably *** applied gas will cause a depression on the liquid surface,which will undoubtedly affect the plasma generation and further affect the application ***,the effect of liquid surface deformation on the plasma is still *** this work,numerical models are developed to reveal the mechanism of liquid surface depressions affecting plasma discharge characteristics and the consequential distribution of plasma species,and further study the influence of liquid surface depressions of different sizes generated by different helium flow rates on the *** show that the liquid surface deformation changes the initial spatial electric field,resulting in the rearrangement of electrons on the liquid *** charges deposited on the liquid surface further increase the degree of distortion of the electric ***,the electric field and electron distribution affected by the liquid surface depression significantly influence the generation and distribution of active species,which determines the practical effectiveness of the relevant *** work explores the phenomenon of liquid surface depression,which has been neglected in previous related work,and contributes to further understanding of plasma-liquid interactions,providing better theoretical guidance for related applications and technologies.

BACKGROUND Severe spasticity may negatively impact functionality and quality of life after spinal cord injury(SCI).Intrathecal baclofen treatment(IBT)is effectively used to manage severe spasticity and reduce ***,long-term IBT may have a negative effect on bone mineral content(BMC),bone mineral density(BMD)and body composition(such as percentage fat mass and lean body mass).We demonstrated the negative effects of long-term IBT use in a single case compared with two non-IBT *** SUMMARY A 46-year old Caucasian male Veteran(case)with a 21 year history of complete tetraplegia(complete C6 SCI)was implanted with IBT for 20 *** case was matched to two participants with different time since injuries[2(match 1)and 13(match 2)years]without *** BMC and BMD at the epiphysis and metaphysis of the distal femur and proximal tibia were evaluated using dual knee and the dual femur modules of GE Lunar iDXA *** and leg body composition assessments were also conducted for the three *** effect of long-term IBT was demonstrated by changes in BMD,consistent with bone demineralization,at the distal femur and proximal tibia and changes in percentage fat mass and lean mass of *** case showed 113%lower BMD at the distal femur,and 78.1%lower at the proximal tibia compared to match 1,moreover the case showed 45%lower BMD at the distal femur,and no observed changes at the proximal tibia compared to match *** case had 27.1%and 16.5%greater leg%fat mass compared to match 1 and match 2,***,the case had 17.4%and 11.8%lower%leg lean mass compared to match 1 and match 2,*** Long-term IBT may impact bone health and body composition parameters in persons with complete *** may be prudent to encourage regular screening of individuals on long-term IBT considering the prevalence of osteoporosis related fractures,cardiovascular diseases,and metabolic disorders in this population.
