Metal-halide perovskites are revolutionizing the world of X-ray detectors,due to the development of sensitive,fast,and cost-effective ***-powered operation,ensuring portability and low power consumption,has also been recently demonstrated in both bulk materials and thin ***,the signal stability and repeatability under continuous X-ray exposure has only been tested up to a few hours,often reporting degradation of the detection *** it is shown that self-powered direct X-ray detectors,fabricated starting from a FAPbBr_(3)submicrometer-thick film deposition onto a mesoporous TiO_(2)scaffold,can withstand a 26-day uninterrupted X-ray exposure with negligible signal loss,demonstrating ultra-high operational stability and excellent *** structural modification is observed after irradiation with a total ionizing dose of almost 200 Gy,revealing an unexpectedly high radiation hardness for a metal-halide perovskite thin *** addition,trap-assisted photoconductive gain enabled the device to achieve a record bulk sensitivity of 7.28 C Gy^(−1)cm^(−3)at 0 V,an unprecedented value in the field of thin-film-based photoconductors and photodiodes for“hard”***,prototypal validation under the X-ray beam produced by a medical linear accelerator for cancer treatment is also introduced.

Neurotrophins,and growth factors in general,are proteins which exert many actions in central nervous system *** promote the survival and neuronal function of neurons and exert neuroprotective effects in pathological models of neurodegenerative *** humans several clinical trials based on the use of these proteins have been carried out. Among them, it is worth to mention gene ther- apy especially in Parkinson＇s disease （PD）（Kordower and Bjorklund, 2013）, and a series of experiments using vectors capable of carrying neurotrophins in the selected target re- gion where they can exert their beneficial action （Ghosh et al., 2014）.

Utilization of Bitter Orange Seed as a Novel Pectin Source:Compositional and Rheological Characterization

The seeds from bitter orange,the by-product of juice making units,hold the potential to facilitate novel,easy yet high-quality pectin *** test this hypothesis,orange seed pectin(OSP)was extracted by distilled water and its compositional parameters and rheological behavior were then *** showed that galacturonic acid was the major component of OSP(∼425 mg/g)confirming the purity of the extracted pectin,followed by glucose and some minor neutral *** Mw(weight-average molar mass),Rn(number average molar mass),and Rz(z-average molar mass)values for the OSP were 4511.8 kDa,61 nm,and 61.1 nm,*** measurements showed a shear-thinning behavior for OSP so that the viscosity of the gum decreased by increasing the temperature from 5 to 45℃.The Power-law model fitted as the best rheological model describing the flow behavior of *** strain sweep dynamic rheological measurements confirmed an entangled network structure for OSP and the NaCl addition to the gum dispersion decreased the consistency coefficient from 35.6 to 23.18 ***,while the flow behavior index remained *** results demonstrate that the OSP can be used as a new source of pectin,with likely a wide range of applications in the food industry.

Financial Statements Frauds: Does Their Intensity Have a Connection with Earnings Management?

This study investigates the relationship between earnings management and financial statements *** examine how earnings management practices;done in the two years before the fraud,impact the likelihood of fraud ***,we introduce a new measure for the fraud *** a sample of 70 fraud and 70 no-fraud firms,we find that firms committing fraud of higher intensity have managed earnings in the two years before the fraud *** paper contributes to the literature about fraud antecedents because it is the first study measuring the relationship between earnings management and the intensity of the fraud,and it can be also useful for practitioners,because using the analysis of earnings management practices,analysts can foresee and prevent financial statements frauds.

Defining the Entrepreneurial Capital Construct

The purpose of this paper is to show preliminary results from an international research project on intellectual capital and value creation led by Lappeenranta university of Technology (Finland). In the case of this paper, results from Italy will be reported and specifically. The Italian analysis focuses on the entrepreneurial capital (EC) and it analyses how large Italian companies develop and enhance this intangible element. The main research question is: What is the current level of EC in Italian organizations and how does it affect value creation? To this end, the research addressed the different definitions of EC that literature offers. As a secondary step, this paper analysed the variables suggested by previous literature and proposed an original definition for the research project. The definition is that EC is a stock of competences and the personnels" attributes related to proactive, risky, and aggressive decision-making and behaviour. This research provides researchers and managers with unique insights into the evolutionary nature of the relationships between distinct IC variables and draws a picture on the state of art of corporate EC in the selected sample. This research highlights and improves companies" abilities to manage their EC. Furthermore, this research will set the agenda for improving the EC practices of Italian companies and will allow future comparison with firms from other countries that are participating in the same project identifying different pathways to success.

Primary Hyperparathyroidism:A Tale of Two Cities Revisited-New York and Shanghai

In the 1970s, with the advent of biochemical multichannel screening in the United States and other western countries, the clinical presentation of primary hyperparathyroidism （PHPT） changed from a symptomatic to an asymptomatic disorder. However, in Asian countries, like China, PHPT did not show this evolution, but rather continued to be a symptomatic disease with target organ involvement. In this paper, we revisit the clinical features of PHPT in New York and Shanghai, representative United States and Chinese cites, over the past decade. The questions we address are whether the disease evolved in China to a more asymptomatic one and, whether in the United States further changes are evident. The results indicate that while PHPT con- tinues to present primarily as an asymptomatic disease in the United States, a new phenotype characterized by normal serum calcium and high parathyroid hormone levels, normocalcemic PHPT, has emerged. Data from Shanghai demonstrates a trend for PHPT to present more commonly as an asymptomatic disorder in China. However, most patients with PHPT in China still manifest classical symptoms, i.e. nephrolithiasis and fractures. A comparison of the two cohorts shows that Chinese patients with PHPT are younger, with higher serum calcium and PTH levels, and lower 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels than patients in New York. Normocalcemic PHPT has not yet been recognized in Shanghai. In summary, although the phenotypes of PHPT in both cities are evolving towards less evident disease, sharp clinical and biochemical differences are still apparent in PHPT as expressed in China and the United States.

Allograft tissue irradiation and failure rate after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction:A systematic review

AIM:To evaluate whether anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) allograft irradiation is effective for sterility without compromising graft integrity and increasing failure ***:A literature search was conducted using Pub Med,Cochrane,and *** following search terms were used:"Gamma irradiation AND anterior cruciate ligament AND allograft" with a return of 30 *** used included:English language,years *** were 6 hits that were not reviewed,as there were only abstracts *** 5 hits were discarded,as they did not pertain to the topic of *** were 9 more articles that were excluded:Three studies were performed on animals and 6 studies were ***,a total of 10 articles were applicable to ***:There is a delicate dosing crossover where gamma irradiation is both effective for sterility without catastrophically compromising the structural integrity of the *** note,low dose irradiation is considered less than 2.0 Mrad,moderate dose is between 2.1-2.4 Mrad,and high dose is greater than or equal to 2.5 *** upon the results of the literature search,the optimal threshold for sterilization was found to be sterilization at less than 2.2 Mrad of gamma irradiation with the important caveat of being performed at low *** graft selection process also must include thorough donor screening and testing as well as harvesting the tissue in a sterile *** of higher dose(≥ 2.5 Mrad) of irradiation causes greater allograft tissue laxity that results in greater graft failure rate clinically in patients after ACL ***:Allograft ACL graft gamma irradiatedwith less than 2.2 Mrad appears to be a reasonable alternative to autograft for patients above 25 years of age.
