Impacts of the Two Types of El Ni?o on Pacific Tropical Cyclone Activity

It is well known that Tropical cyclone （TC） activities over the Pacific are affected by E1 Nino events. In most studies El Nifio phenomena have been separated into east Pacific warming （EPW） and central Pacific wanning （CPW） based on the location of maximum SST anomaly. Since these two kinds of El Nino have different impacts on Pacific tropical cyclone activities, this study investigates different features of TC activities and the genesis potential index （GPI） during EPW years and CPW years. Four eontrib- nting factors, i.e., the low-level absolute vorticity, the relative humidity, the potential intensity and the vertical wind shear, are exam- ined to determine which factors are most important in causing the anomalous TC activities. Our results show that during EPW years in July-August （JA-0）, TC activities are more frequent with stronger intensity over the Western North Pacific （WNP） and Eastern North Pacific （ENP）. The maximum anomaly center of TC activities then drifts eastward siguifieantly in September-October （SO-0）. However, centers of anomalous TC activity barely change from JA-0 to SO-0 during CPW years. In January-February-March （JFM-1） of the decaying years of warming events, TC frequency and intensity both have positive anomaly over the South Pacific, The anoma- lies in EPW years have larger amplitude and wider spatial distribution than those in CPW years. These anomalous activities of TC are associated with GPI anomaly and the key factors affecting GPI anomaly for each ocean basin are quite different.

Investigating the impacts of spatial-temporal variation features of air density on assessing wind power generation and its fluctuation in China

Air density plays an important role in assessing wind *** density significantly fluctuates both spatially and *** literature typically used standard air density or local annual average air density to assess wind *** present study investigates the estimation errors of the potential and fluctuation of wind resource caused by neglecting the spatial-temporal variation features of air density in *** air density at 100 m height is accurately calculated by using air temperature,pressure,and *** spatial-temporal variation features of air density are firstly *** the wind power generation is modeled based on a 1.5 MW wind turbine model by using the actual air density,standard air densityρst,and local annual average air densityρsite,***ρstoverestimates the annual wind energy production(AEP)in 93.6%of the study *** significantly affects AEP in central and southern China *** more than 75%of the study area,the winter to summer differences in AEP are underestimated,but the intra-day peak-valley differences and fluctuation rate of wind power are ***ρsitesignificantly reduces the estimation error in *** AEP is still overestimated(0-8.6%)in summer and underestimated(0-11.2%)in *** for southwest China,it is hard to reduce the estimation errors of winter to summer differences in AEP by usingρ***ρsitedistinctly reduces the estimation errors of intra-day peak-valley differences and fluctuation rate of wind power,but these estimation errors cannot be ignored as *** impacts of air density on assessing wind resource are almost independent of the wind turbine types.

Single-shot AAV-vectored vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 with fast and long-lasting immunity

Due to the insufficient long-term protection and significant efficacy reduction to new variants of current COVID-19 vaccines,the epidemic prevention and control are still ***,we employ a capsid and antigen structure engineering(CASE)strategy to manufacture an adenoassociated viral serotype 6-based vaccine(S663V-RBD),which expresses trimeric receptor binding domain(RBD)of spike protein fused with a biological adjuvant ***,the engineered S663V-RBD could rapidly induce a satisfactory RBD-specific IgG titer within 2 weeks and maintain the titer for more than 4 *** to the licensed BBIBP-CorV(Sinopharm,China),a single-dose S663V-RBD induced more endurable and robust immune responses in mice and elicited superior neutralizing antibodies against three typical SARS-CoV-2 pseudoviruses including wild type,C.37(Lambda)and B.1.617.2(Delta).More interestingly,the intramuscular injection of S663V-RBD could overcome pre-existing immunity against the *** its effectiveness,the CASE-based S663VRBD may provide a new solution for the current and next pandemic.

Nanoparticles with rough surface improve the therapeutic effect of photothermal immunotherapy against melanoma

Photothermal therapy has been intensively investigated for treating cancer in recent ***,the long-term therapeutic outcome remains unsatisfying due to the frequently occurred metastasis and *** address this challenge,immunotherapy has been combined with photothermal therapy to activate anti-tumor immunity and relieve the immunosuppressive microenvironment within tumor ***,we engineered silica-based core-shell nanoparticles(JQ-1@PSNs-R),in which silica cores were coated with the photothermal agent polydopamine,and a bromodomain-containing protein 4(BRD4) inhibitor JQ-1 was loaded in the polydopamine layer to combine photo thermal and immune therapy for tumor ***,to improve the therapeutic effect,we increased the surface roughness of the nanoparticles by hydrofluoric acid(HF) etching during the fabrication process,and found that the internalization of JQ-1@PSNs-R was significantly improved,leading to a strengthened photothermal killing effect as well as the increased intracellular delivery of *** the animal studies,the multifunctional nanoparticles with rough surfaces effectively eradicated melanoma via photothermal therapy,successfully activated tumor-specific immune responses against residual tumor cells,and further prevented tumor metastasis and *** results indicated that JQ-1@PSNs-R could serve as an innovative and effective strategy for combined cancer therapy.

Deciphering engineering principle of three-phase interface for advanced gas-involved electrochemical reactions

As an alternative to conventional energy conversion and storage reactions,gas-involved electrochemical reactions,including the carbon dioxide reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR),nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),have become an emerging research direction and have gained increasing attention due to their advantages of environmental friendliness and *** studies have been designed to accelerate sluggish kinetics but with limited *** of them promote the reaction by modulating the intrinsic properties of the catalyst,ignoring the synergistic effect of the reaction as a *** to the introduction of gas,traditional liquid-solid two-phase reactions are no longer applicable to future *** gas-involved electrochemical reactions mostly occur at the junctions of gaseous reactants,liquid electrolytes and solid catalysts,the focus of future research on reaction kinetics should gradually shift to three-phase reaction *** this review,we briefly introduce the formation and constraints of the three-phase interface and propose three criteria to judge its merit,namely,the active site,mass diffusion and electron mass ***,a series of modulation methods and relevant works are discussed in detail from the three improvement directions of‘exposing more active sites,promoting mass diffusion and accelerating electron transfer’.Definitively,we provide farsighted insights into the understanding and research of three-phase interfaces in the future and point out the possible development direction of future regulatory methods,hoping that this review can broaden the future applications of the three-phase interface,including but not limited to gas-involved electrochemical reactions.

Cooperative Angles-Only Relative Navigation Algorithm for Multi-Spacecraft Formation in Close-Range

As to solve the collaborative relative navigation problem for near-circular orbiting small satellites in close-range under GNSS denied environment,a novel consensus constrained relative navigation algorithm based on the lever arm effect of the sensor offset from the spacecraft center of mass is ***,the orbital propagation model for the relative motion of multi-spacecraft is established based on Hill-Clohessy-Wiltshire dynamics and the line-of-sight measurement under sensor offset condition is modeled in Local Vertical Local Horizontal ***,the consensus constraint model for the relative orbit state is constructed by introducing the geometry constraint between the spacecraft,based on which the consensus unscented Kalman filter is ***,the observability analysis is done and the necessary conditions of the sensor offset to make the state observable are ***,digital simulations are conducted to verify the proposed algorithm,where the comparison to the unconstrained case is also *** results show that the estimated error of the relative position converges very quickly,the location error is smaller than 10m under the condition of 10−3 rad level camera and 5m offset.

SERS activity of carbon nanotubes modified by silver nanoparticles with different particle sizes

Federated unscented particle filtering algorithm for SINS/CNS/GPS system

To solve the problem of information fusion in the strapdown inertial navigation system(SINS)/celestial navigation system(CNS)/global positioning system(GPS) integrated navigation system described by the nonlinear/non-Gaussian error models,a new algorithm called the federated unscented particle filtering(FUPF) algorithm was *** this algorithm,the unscented particle filter(UPF) served as the local filter,the federated filter was used to fuse outputs of all local filters,and the global filter result was *** the algorithm was not confined to the assumption of Gaussian noise,it was of great significance to integrated navigation systems described by the non-Gaussian *** proposed algorithm was tested in a vehicle's maneuvering trajectory,which included six flight phases:climbing,level flight,left turning,level flight,right turning and level *** results are presented to demonstrate the improved performance of the FUPF over conventional federated unscented Kalman filter(FUKF).For instance,the mean of position-error decreases from(0.640×10-6 rad,0.667×10-6 rad,4.25 m) of FUKF to(0.403×10-6 rad,0.251×10-6 rad,1.36 m) of *** comparison of the FUKF,the FUPF performs more accurate in the SINS/CNS/GPS system described by the nonlinear/non-Gaussian error models.

Multi-Objective Optimization of Urban Bus Network Using Cumulative Prospect Theory

Multi-objective optimization of urban bus network can help improve operation efficiency of the transit system and develop strategies for reducing urban traffic congestion in China. The work used cumulative prospect theory, currently the most influential model for decision under uncertainty,to optimize urban bus network. To achieve the research objective, the work developed the theoretical framework of urban bus network optimization, including optimization principle, optimization objectives and constraints. Furthermore, optimization objectives could comprehensively reflect expectations of passengers and bus companies from the dimension of time, space and value. It is more scientific and reasonable compared with only one stakeholder or dimension alone in the previous studies. In addition,the technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS) was used to determine the positive and negative ideal alternative. The correlations between the optimization alternatives and the ideal alternatives were estimated by grey relational analysis simultaneously. The cumulative prospect theory(CPT) was used to determine the best alternative by comparing comprehensive prospect value of every alternative, accurately describing decision-making behavior compared with expected utility theory in actual life. Finally, Case of Xi'an showed that the method can better adjust the bus network,and the optimization solution is more reasonable to meet the actual needs.
