TinyML-Based Classification in an ECG Monitoring Embedded System

Recently, the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) hasenabled continuous and personal electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring. In theECG monitoring system, classification plays an important role because it canselect useful data (i.e., reduce the size of the dataset) and identify abnormaldata that can be used to detect the clinical diagnosis and guide furthertreatment. Since the classification requires computing capability, the ECGdata are usually delivered to the gateway or the server where the classificationis performed based on its computing resource. However, real-time ECG datatransmission continuously consumes battery and network resources, whichare expensive and limited. To mitigate this problem, this paper proposes atiny machine learning (TinyML)-based classification (i.e., TinyCES), wherethe ECG monitoring device performs the classification by itself based onthe machine-learning model, which can reduce the memory and the networkresource usages for the classification. To demonstrate the feasibility, afterwe configure the convolutional neural networks (CNN)-based model usingECG data from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)-Beth IsraelHospital (BIH) arrhythmia and the Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt(PTB) diagnostic ECG databases, TinyCES is validated using the TinyMLsupportedArduino prototype. The performance results show that TinyCEScan have an approximately 97% detection ratio, which means that it has greatpotential to be a lightweight and resource-efficient ECG monitoring system.

Cobalt phosphide nanoarrays with crystalline-amorphous hybrid phase for hydrogen production in universal-pH

To accomplish mass hydrogen production by electrochemical water-splitting,it is a necessary to develop robust,highly active,stable,and cost-effective hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)electrocatalysts that perform comparably to Pt in the universal pH *** this work,cobalt phosphide hybrid nanosheets supported on carbon felt(cop.HNS/CF)are presented,which exhibit the superior electrocatalytic hydrogen production under a *** these nanosheets,a single cop.HNS is composed of polycrystalline cop.and oxygen-enriched amorphous Co-O-P *** from its unique nanoarchitecture,as-fabricated cop.HNS/CF exhibits a tremendous electrocatalytic HER activity and outperforms Pt/C as well as state-of-the-art cop.electrocatalysts in *** acidic and neutral media,the cop.HNS/CF shows superior electrocatalytic activity while maintaining its original hybrid crystalline-amorphous phase and *** alkaline medium,the unexpected phase and morphological reorganization of cop.HNS/CF results in outstanding electrocatalytic *** HNS/CF not only achieves high electrocatalytic activity and kinetics,but also a stable and long operating lifetime even under a high current density of 500 mA cm'***,the fabrication of cop.HNS/CF can be scaled up easily,and the large cop.HNS/CF electrode also exhibits similar electrocatalytic activity and stability.

Research trend of cascade heat pumps

Most commercial and industrial facilities require very low temperatures for refrigeration and high temperatures for space heating and hot water purposes. Single stage heat pumps have not been able to meet these temperature demands and have been characterized by low capacities and coefficient of performance(cop.. Cascade heat pump has been developed to overcome the weaknesses of single stage heat pumps. This study reviews recent works done by researchers on cascade heat pumps for refrigeration, heating and hot water generation. Selection of suitable refrigerants to meet the pressure and temperature demands of each stage of the cascade heat pump has been discussed. Optimization of design parameters such as intermediate temperature(low stage condensing and high stage evaporating temperatures), and temperature difference in the cascade heat exchanger for optimum performance of the cascade heat pump has been reviewed. It was found that optimising each design parameter of the cascade heat pump is necessary for maximum system performance and this may improve the exergetic efficiency, especially of cascade refrigeration systems, by about 30.88%. Cascade heat pumps have wider range of application especially for artificial snow production, in the supermarkets,for natural gas liquefaction, in drying clothes and food and as heat recovery system. The performance of cascade heat pumps can be improved by 19% when coupled with other renewable energy sources for various real time applications. Also, there is the need for much research on refrigerant charge amount of cascade heat pumps, refrigerant-refrigerant heat exchangers to be used as cascade heat exchanger, cascade heat pumps for simultaneous cooling, heating and hot water generation and on the use of variable speed compressors and their control strategies in matching system capacity especially at part load conditions.

Cobalt phosphide nanoparticles embedded in nitrogendoped carbon nanosheets： Promising anode material with high rate capability and long cycle life for sodiumion batteries

Cobalt phosphide （cop. nanoparticles which were uniformly embedded in N-doped C nanosheets （CNSs） were fabricated via the simple one-step calcination of a Co-based metal-organic framework （MOF） and red P and exhibited a high capacity, fast kinetics, and a long cycle life. This cop.CNS composite contained small cop.particles （approximately 11.3 nm） and P-C bonds. When its electrochemical properties were evaluated by testing cop.Na coin cells, the composite delivered a Na-storage capacity of 598 mAh·g-1 at 0.1 A·g-1 according to the total mass of the composite, which means that the capacity of pure cop.reached 831 mAh·g-1 The composite also exhibited a high rate capability and long-term cyclability （174 mAh·g-1 at 20 A·g-1 and 98.5% capacity retention after 900 cycles at 1 A·g-1）, which are commonly attributed to robust P-C bonding and highly conductive CNSs. When the reaction mechanism of the cop.CNS composite was investigated, a conversion reaction expressed as cop.＋ 3Na＋＋ 3e＋＋ Co ＋ Na3P was observed. The outstanding Na-storage properties of the cop.CNS composite may suggest a new strategy for developing high-performance anode materials for Na-ion batteries.

Dear Editor, Plants use light as an environmental signal to coor- dinate diverse physiological and developmental processes, thereby increasing their fitness. Light quality, quantity, and photoperiod change periodically under natural condi- tions of daily and seasonal cycles. Plants have developed a circadian clock to respond to these predictable, periodic environmental changes, providing plants with the ability to anticipate daily and seasonal environmental changes.

Deneddylase 1 regulates deneddylase activity of the cop. signalosome in Drosophila melanogaster

NEDD8 conjugation of Cullin has an important role in ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation. The cop. signalosome, of which CSN5 is the major catalytic subunit, is a major Cullin deneddylase, Another deneddylase, Deneddylase 1, has also been shown to process the Nedd8 precursor. In Drosophila, the DEN1 mutants do not have increased levels of Cullin neddylation, but instead show a significant decrease in neddylated Cullin. This characteristic decrease in neddylated Cullins in the DEN1^null background can be rescued by UAS-dDEN1^WT overexpression but not by overexpression of mature NEDDS, indicating that this phenotype is distinct from the NEDD8-processing function of DENI. We examined the role of DEN 1-CSN interaction in regulating Cullin neddylation. Overexpression of DEN1 in a CSN5^hypo background slightly reduced unneddylated Cullin levels. The CSN5, DEN1 double mutation partially rescues the premature lethality associated with the CSN5 single mutation. These results suggest that DEN1 regulates Cullin neddylation by suppressing CSN deneddylase activity.

Experimental Analyses of Moderately High-Temperature Heat Pump Systems with R245fa and R1233zd(E)

With the limited production and use of R245fa,environmentally friendly refrigerant has attracted the attention of *** to the similar thermal characteristics,R1233zd(E)is considered to be an ideal substitute for R245fa in heat pump *** this study,the performance and economic analysis of heat pump systems with R245fa and R1233zd(E)as refrigerants are carried *** results show that the total cost of R1233zd(E)system is more than 10%higher than that of R245fa system under the same heating *** the increase of condensation temperature,the heating capacity of both systems decreases,and with the increase of evaporation temperature,the heating capacity *** variation trend of coefficient of performance(cop.of the two systems is similar to that of heating *** the same operating conditions,the cop.of R1233zd(E)system is 19.2%higher than that of R245fa system,and the volumetric heat capacity of R1233zd(E)is 9.0%–13.9%lower than that of *** economic analysis results show that the investment cost of R1233zd(E)system is low under the same heat load.

The heating performance of a water-to-refrigerant type ground source heat pump system is represented in this paper under the actual working conditions of the GSHP(ground source heat pump) system during the winter season of *** heat pump equipments with the capacity of 10 HP each and a closed vertical typed-ground heat exchanger with 24 boreholes of 175 m in depth were *** investigated a variety of working conditions,including the outdoor temperature,the ground temperature,and the water temperature of inlet and outlet of the ground heat exchanger in order to examine the heating performance of the GSHP ***,the heating capacity and the input power were investigated to determine the heating performance of the GSHP *** average heating coefficient of performance(cop. of the heat pump was noted to be 5.1 at partial load of 47%,while the overall system cop.was found to be ***,performance of the GSHP system was compared with that of air source heat pump.

Cryptogenic organizing pneumonia associated with pregnancy:A case report

BACKGROUND Cryptogenic organizing pneumonia(cop.,formerly known as bronchiolitis obliterans organizing pneumonia,is an extremely rare disease in *** this case,we report on cop.diagnosed in recurrent pneumonia that does not respond to antibiotics in pregnant *** SUMMARY A 35-year-old woman with no prior lung disease presented with concerns of chest pain with cough,sputum,dyspnea,and mild fever at 11 wk’*** was diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia and treated with antibiotics;her symptoms improved *** weeks after discharge,she was readmitted with aggravated *** computed tomography demonstrated multifocal patchy airspace consolidation and ground-glass opacities at the basal segments of the right lower lobe,at the lateral basal segment of the lower lobe,and at the lingular segment of the left upper *** lavage revealed an increased lymphocyte count and a decreased CD4/CD8 ***(0.5 mg/kg/d)was administered for 10 d after the second *** improved after 3 d of steroid treatment and other symptoms improved on the 5th day of steroid ***-delivery transbronchial lung biopsy further revealed the presence of granulation tissue with fibroblasts in smallbronchiole *** This case suggests that it is important to differentiate cop.from atypical pneumonia in the deteriorated condition despite antibiotic treatment.
