Enteromorpha prolifera polysaccharide-Fe(Ⅲ) complex promotes intestinal development as a new iron supplement

Iron is a crucial micronutrient, and its deficiency can have detrimental effects on the health of infants. Dietary polysaccharide-iron(Ⅲ) complexes(PICs) are promising for addressing iron deficiency due to their minimal adverse reactions and high iron absorption rate. This study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary Enteromorpha prolifera polysaccharide-Fe(Ⅲ) complex(EP-Fe) on newborns, using 3-day weaned piglets as the iron-deficiency model. Results showed that EP-Fe improved iron levels and promoted intestinal development in piglets. Transcriptome sequencing revealed that EP-Fe increased the survival of intestinal epithelial cells under hypoxia by upregulating the expression of genes that promote the development of the vascular system. Additionally, EP-Fe enhanced the mucosal barrier functions by inhibiting myosin light chain kinase(MLCK)/phosphorylated myosin light chain(p-MLC) signaling pathway to increase the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins. Furthermore, the 16S r RNA gene sequencing of gut microbiota showed that EP-Fe promoted the enrichment of Bacteroides＿fragilis and other gut microbes that can metabolize carbohydrates. In conclusion, EP-Fe is an effective iron supplement for newborns, and it can be developed as a comprehensive nutritional supplement.

As one of the biggest iron and steel companies in China, Handan Iron and Steel Co has made a substantial progress in the sintering process. The mini-pellet sintering technology has been successfully applied based on lab investigation and industrial trials. Equipment enlargement was realized through replacing small sintering strands with the construction of huge sintering machine with a grate area of 400 m 2. The productivity, iron content and the metallurgical properties of sintering process have been improved.

The hot deformation behavior of S460 ML steel with different Nb contents was investigated by single-pass compression experiment on the Gleeble-1500 thermo-machine simulator at deformation temperatures ranging from 900 to 1200 ℃ and strain rates from 0.1 to 5.0 s^(-1). The critical strain of dynamic recrystallization(DRC) under different conditions was determined by using working hardening rate-strain curves. The relationship between critical strain and peak strain of DRC was discussed. By means of regression analysis method, the hot deformation activation energy of steels and the mathematical model for predicting DRC critical strain were calculated and established, respectively. The results showed that DRC occurred during hot deformation. As the deformation temperature increased and strain rate decreased, the critical strain of DRC decreased. The critical strain(εc) showed linear relationship with peak strain(εp). As Nb content increased,the needed deformation temperature for occurring DRC increased, while the needed strain rate for it decreased. The activation energy for hot deformation of S460 ML steel increased with increasing Nb content.

The relative balance of electron and hole injection is crucial for the achievement of highly efficient quantum dot(QD)lightemitting diodes(QLEDs).Here,an inverted red QLED with the utilization of an organic emitting layer(EML)was obtained,exhibiting peak current efficiency(CE)and external quantum efficiency(EQE)of 25.63 cd/A and 23.20%,*** the proposed device,the organic EML,which is a blend of fac-tris(2-phenylpyridine)iridium(Ir(ppy)_(3))and 4,4’-bis(N-carbazolyl)-1,1’-biphenyl(CBP),works as an exciton harvester to capture the leaked electrons from QD layer and the injected holes from hole transporting layer(HTL),then affording energy transfer from organic EML to the adjacent QD layer so that the emission of QD is enhanced *** the same time,according to the results of hole-only and electron-only devices,the insertion of organic EML promotes the hole injection,and eliminates excess electrons from QD to HTL,thus leading to a better match of hole and electron injection in the *** the basis of the above benefits,the optimal QLED with a 10 nm organic EML offered~2-fold improvements of CE and EQE,respectively,relative to the control ***,a better operational lifetime of QLEDs based on the organic EML was achieved.

PREPARATION OF MDPE-g-MAH COPOLYMERS AND THEIR EFFECT ON PROPERTIES OF MDPE/CaCO_3 SYSTEMS

MDPE-g-MAH copolymers were prepared with MDPE （medium density polyethylene） and MAH （maleic anhydride） under different irradiation doses of high-energy electron accelerator, and FTIR spectra confirmed their structure. The effect of the different contents of MDPE-g-MAH copolymers on properties of MDPE/CaCO3 system is studied intensively. By adding 4 Phr （parts per hundred of resin） MDPE-g-MAH in MDPE/CaCO3 system under irradiation dose of 0.7 MGy, the tensile strength increases from 16.3 MPa to 19.9 MPa, and elongation at break increases from 437% to 518%. SEM images show the domain size of CaCO3 in MDPE-g-MAH systems becomes small. Definitely, MDPE-g-MAH copolymer could improve the compatibility of MDPE/CaCO3 system effectively.

Fouling of organic fractionation on ultrafiltration membrane for drinking water treatment:a case study

The aim of this study was to obtain a better understanding of the range of organic molecular weight （MW） causing membrane fouling through the comparison between direct UF and in-line coagulation （without settling）/UF process. The experimental results indicated that, when raw water with organics was treated and the MW of more than half of the organics was less than 1 kDa, membrane fouling was rather serious by only UF and coagulation could improve the fouling for the treatment of raw water. Besides, coagulation/UF could remove organics in each region, and organics with MW greater than 30 kDa were the most possible matters causing membrane fouling, while organics with MW less than 1 kDa were in due to few organics removed. Therefore, organics with MW greater them brane foulingibly responsible for membrane fouling 30 kDa were the major factor of membrane fouling.

The effects of chemical composition and preparation conditions,especially calcination atmosphere and water content on the catalytic performances of MoVTeNbO mixed oxide catalyst system for the selective oxidation of propane to acrylic acid were *** the catalysts studied,Mo_(1.0)V_(0.3)Te_(0.23)Nb_(0.12)O_(x) catalyst calcined in inert atmosphere at 600℃shows the best performance in terms of propane conversion and selectivity to acrylic *** results reveal that proper chemical composition, calcination atmosphere and water content affect greatly the catalysts in many ways including structure,chemical composition,which are related to their catalytic performances;and 51.0%propane conversion and 30.5%one-pass yield to acrylic acid can be achieved at the same time.

Low cycle fatigue tests and crack growth propagations tests on P91 pipe base metal and its weld joints were conducted at three different temperatures: room temperature, 550℃ and 575℃. The strain-life was analyzed, and the changes in fatigue life behavior and fatigue growth rates with increasing temperature were discussed. The different properties of the base metal and its weld joint have been analyzed.
