Several fractionally spaced equalizers(FSE) which could be used in 60 GHz systems are presented in this paper. For 60 GHz systems, low-power equalization algorithms are favorable. We focus on FSE in both time domain(TD) and frequency domain(FD) in order to meet different complexity requirements of 60 GHz systems. Compared with symbol spaced equalizer(SSE), FSE can relax the requirement of sampling synchronization hardware significantly. Extensive simulation results show that our equalization algorithms not only eliminate ISI efficiently, but are also robust to timing synchronization errors.

AIM： To establish if PTCHla transcriptional regulation region （TRR） is methylated in gastric cancer and its influence in gastric tumorigenesis.METHODS： The CpG islands in PTCHla TRR were analyzed by Methyl Primer Express v1.0 software. The region from -643 to -355 bp （the transcription initiation site of PTCHla was designated as 0） that contained 19 CpG sites was chosen for bisulfitesequencing PCR （BSP） and methylation-specific PCR （MSP） detection. The gastric cancer cell line AGS was treated with 5-aza-2′-deoxycytidine （5-Aza-dC; 1 μmol/L） for 3 d. Alterations in PTCHla TRR methylation in treated AGS cells was measured through BSP clone sequences, and their PTCH1 expression was measured by quantitative RT-PCR. The cell cycle and apoptosis were observed with flow cytometry through propidium iodide （PI） staining or annexin V/PI double staining. The prevalence of PTCHla TRR methylation was investigated in 170 gastric cancer tissue samples and the adjacent normal tissues by MSP. The correlation of PTCH1a TRR methylation with PTCH1 expression or with patients＇ clinical features was analyzed.RESULTS： Methylation of PTCHla TRR was observed in AGS ceils and a subset of gastric cancer tissues （32%, 55/170）, while no methylation amplification products were observed in any normal tissues by MSP. The methylation of PTCH1α TRR was correlated negatively with PTCH1 expression （Spearman＇s r = -0.380, P = 0.000）. However, methylation of PTCHla TRR was not related to the gastric cancer patients＇ clinical features, such as sex, age of onset, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis or histological grade. The methylation of PTCHla TRR in AGS cells was almost converted to non-methylation after 5-Aza-dC treatment, which increased PTCH1 expression （5.3 ± 2.5 times; n = 3） and apoptosis rate （3.0 ± 0.26 times; P 〈 0.05; n = 3）.CONCLUSION： Methylation of PTCH1α TRR is present in a subset of gastric cancers and correlated negatively with PTCH1 expression. Multi-Factor Intensity Estimation for Tropical Cyclones in the Western North Pacific Based on the Deviation Angle Variance Technique

In this paper, the infrared cloud images from Fengyun series geostationary satellites and the best track data from the China Meteorological Administration(CMA-BST) in 2015–2017 are used to investigate the effects of two multifactor models, generalized linear model(GLM) and long short-term memory(LSTM) model, for tropical cyclone(TC) intensity estimation based on the deviation angle variance(DAV) technique. For comparison, the typical singlefactor Sigmoid function model(SFM) with the map minimum value of DAV is also used to produce TC intensity estimation. Sensitivity experiments regarding the DAV calculation radius and different training data groups are conducted, and the estimation precision and optimum calculation radius for DAV in the western North Pacific(WNP) are analyzed. The results show that the root-mean-square-error(RMSE) of the single-factor SFM is 8.79–13.91 m s^-1 by using the individual years as test sets and the remaining two years as training sets with the optimum calculation radius of 550 km. However, after selecting and using the high-correlation multiple factors from the same test and training data, the RMSEs of GLM and LSTM models decrease to 5.93–8.68 and 4.99–7.00 m s^-1 respectively, with their own optimum calculation radii of 350 and 400 km. All the sensitivity experiments indicate that the SFM results are significantly influenced by the DAV calculation radius and characteristics of the training set data, while the results of multi-factor models appear more stable. Furthermore, the multi-factor models reduce the optimum radius within the process of DAV calculation and improve the precision of TC intensity estimation in the WNP, which can be chosen as an effective approach for TC intensity estimation in marine areas.

Influence of patients' age on functional recovery after transplantation of olfactory ensheathing cells into injured spinal cord injury

Objective To evaluate the restoration of function after spinal cord injury (SCI) in patients of different ages who have underwent intraspinal transplantation of olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs). Methods One hundred and seventy-one SCI patients were included in this study. Of them,139 were male and 32 were female,with age ranging from 2 to 64 years (mean,34.9 years). In all SCI patients the lesions were injected at the time of operation with OECs. According to their ages,the patients were divided into 5 groups: ≤20 years group (n=9),21-30 years group (n=54),31-40 years group (n=60),41-50 years group (n=34) and>51 years group (n=14). The spinal cord function was assessed based on the American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) Classification System before and 2-8 weeks after OECs transplantation. One-way ANOVA and q test were used for statistical analysis,and the data were expressed as mean±SD. Results After surgery,the motor scores increased by 5.2±4.8,8.6±8.0,8.3±8.8,5.7±7.3 and 8.2±7.6 in 5 age groups respectively ( F =1.009,P =0.404); light touch scores increased by 13.9±8.1,15.5±14.3,12.0±14.4,14.1±18.5 and 24.8±25.3 respectively ( F =1.837,P =0.124); and pin prick scores increased by 11.1±7.9,17.2±14.3,13.2±11.8,13.6±13.9 and 25.4±24.3 respectively ( F =2.651,P =0.035). Restoration of pin prick in >51 years group was better than other age groups except 21-30 years group. Conclusion OECs transplantation can improve the neurological function of spinal cord of SCI patients regardless of their ages. Further research into the long-term outcomes of the treatment will be required.

Background:Current surveillance strategies for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)among patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)are *** study aimed to investigate the diagnostic perfor-mance of alpha-fetoprotein(AFP),protein induced by vitamin K absence or antagonist-Ⅱ(PIVKA-Ⅱ),lens culinaris agglutinin-reactive fraction of AFP(AFP-L3),and their combinations in HCC underlying NAFLD ***:Serologic AFP,AFP-L3,and PIVKA-Ⅱ levels in NAFLD patients with and without HCC were *** receiver operating characteristic(ROC)analyses,the area under the curve(AUC),sensitivity,and specificity were obtained to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of each biomarker and their ***:This study was conducted on 139 patients with NAFLD-HCC and 345 NAFLD *** eleva-tion of these three biomarkers was observed in patients with NAFLD-HCC compared to those in NAFLD controls(all P<0.001).When they were analyzed individually,PIVKA-Ⅱ showed the best performance in diagnosing any-stage HCC with an AUC of 0.869,followed by AFP(0.763;***-Ⅱ,P<0.001)and AFP-L3(0.689;***-II,P<0.001).When they were analyzed in combination,AFP+PIVKA-Ⅱ yielded the highest AUC(0.906),followed by AFP+PIVKA-II+AFP-L3(0.904;***+PIVKA-Ⅱ,P=0.086),PIVKA-Ⅱ+AFP-L3(0.881;***+PIVKA-II,P<0.001),and AFP+AFP-L3(0.759;***+PIVKA-II,P<0.001).Similar findings were obtained in the subgroup with early-stage NAFLD-HCC,as well as the non-cirrhotic ***:These data validated the better diagnostic ability of PIVKA-II than AFP or AFP-L3 alone for diagnosing any-stage HCC among patients with NAFLD,and the combination of AFP+PIVKA-II signifi-cantly improved the diagnostic accuracy of NAFLD-HCC.
