IrRu bimetallic oxides are recognized as the promising acidic oxygen evolution reaction(OER)catalysts,but breaking the trade-off between their activity and stability is an unresolved ***,addressing the issues of mass transport obstruction of IrRu bimetallic oxides under high current remains a challenge for the development of proton exchange membrane water electrolysis(PEM-WE).Herein,we prepared an IrRuO_(x)nanomeshes(IrRuO_(x)NMs)with high coordination number(CN)of Ir-O-Ru bonds in a mixed molten salt with high solubility of the Ir/Ru precursor.X-ray absorption spectroscopy analysis revealed that the IrRuO_(x)NMs possess high coordination number of Ir-O-Ru bonds(CNIr-O-Ru=5.6)with a distance of 3.18Å.Moreover,the nanomesh structures of IrRuO_(x)NMs provided hierarchical channels to accelerate the transport of oxygen and water,thus further improving the electrochemical ***,the IrRuO_(x)NMs as OER catalysts can simultaneously achieve high activity and stability with low overpotential of 196 mV to reach 10 mA·cm^(−2)and slightly increase by 70 mV over 650 h *** electrochemical mass spectrometry tests suggest that the preferred OER mechanism for IrRuO_(x)NMs is the adsorbent evolution mechanism,which is beneficial for the robust structural stability.

The layout and characteristics of the hard X-ray spectroscopy beamline(BL11B)at the Shanghai synchrotron radiation facility are described ***11B is a bending-magnet beamline dedicated to conventional and millisecond-scale quick-scanning X-ray absorption fine *** is equipped with a cylindrical collimating mirror,a double-crystal monochromator comprising Si(111)and Si(311),a channel-cut quick-scanning Si(111)monochromator,a toroidal focusing mirror,and a high harmonics rejection *** can provide 5-30 keV of X-rays with a photon flux of~5×10^(11)photons/s and an energy resolution of~1.31×10^(-4)at 10 *** performance of the beamline can satisfy the demands of users in the fields of catalysis,materials,and environmental *** paper presents an overview of the beamline design and a detailed description of its performance and capabilities.

The electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)holds significant promise in advancing carbon *** catalysts for the electrochemical CO_(2)RR to multi-carbon(C_(2+))products(e.g.,C_(2)H_(4))under industrial-level current density is urgently needed and ***,we report the Cu_(2)O nanoparticles doped with interstitial carbon atoms(denoted as C-Cu_(2)O NPs)for the conversion of CO_(2) to C_(2+)*** interstitial carbon promotes the C-Cu_(2)O NPs to possess abundant unsaturated Cu–O bonds,leading to a high-density Cu^(δ+)(0<δ<1)*** obtained C-Cu_(2)O NPs exhibited significant Faradic efficiency(FE)of C_(2+) products approaching 76.9%and a partial current density reaching 615.2 mA·cm^(–2)under an industrial-level current density of 800 mA·cm^(–2).Furthermore,the efficient electrosynthesis of C_(2)H_(4) achieved an FE of 57.4%with a partial current density of 459.2 mA·cm^(–2).In situ electrochemical attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and in situ Raman spectroscopy analyses revealed that C-Cu_(2)O NPs stabilized the intermediate*CO and facilitated C–C coupling,leading to increased selectivity towards C_(2+) products.

synchrotron tomography experiments are transitioning into multifunctional,cross-scale,and dynamic characterizations,enabled by new-generation synchrotron light sources and fast developments in beamline ***,with the spatial and temporal resolving power entering a new era,this transition generates vast amounts of data,which imposes a significant burden on the data processing ***,as a highly accurate and efficient data processing method,deep learning shows great potential to address the big data challenge being encountered at future synchrotron *** this review,we discuss recent advances employing deep learning at different stages of the synchrotron tomography data processing *** also highlight how applications in other data-intensive fields,such as medical imaging and electron tomography,can be migrated to synchrotron ***,we provide our thoughts on possible challenges and opportunities as well as the outlook,envisioning selected deep learning methods,curated big models,and customized learning strategies,all through an intelligent scheduling solution.

The chain dynamics heterogeneity of the poly(vinyl butyral)(PVB) plasticized by triethylene glycol bis(2-ethylhexa noate)(TEG-EH) was investigated by various solid-state NMR *** plasticized PVB shows two domains in distinct molecular dynamics differences,namely,rigid and soft domains,where the latter is the plasticizer-rich *** time domain low field NMR was first used to investigate the dynamics heterogeneity of the plasticized PVB,and the results show the decreasing activated energy of components in the soft domain of plasticized PVB(E_a=20.2 kJ/mol) as compared with that of the pristine one(E_a=24.3 kJ/mol).Detailed dynamics heterogeneity was obtained by high-field NMR with site-specific *** quadrupole-echo ~2H-NMR was adopted to elucidate the dynamics heterogeneity of the vinyl alcohol(VA) units,where only the hydroxyl group of VA is *** ~1H-^(13)C WISE NMR spectra show that there is not much difference in the mobility of the VB unit in PVB with and without plasticizer,whereas the glass transition temperature differed by approximately 53℃.This is further supported by Torchia's T_1 relaxation *** origin of such an unusual phenomenon is attributed to the critical role of the remaining VA(~22%) in the soft domain,where the VA units locally aggregate through hydrogen ***,the existence of a mobility gradient in the VB unit has been ***,the mobility difference for VB with different stereo-geometry(meso or racemic conformation) is observed for the first *** indicates the importance of modulating the ratio of meso over racemic VB for controlling the macroscopic perfo rmance of PVB.

Beams typically do not travel through the magnet centers because of errors in storage *** beam deviating from the quadrupole centers is affected by additional dipole fields due to magnetic field ***-based alignment(BBA)is often performed to determine a golden orbit where the beam circulates around the quadrupole center *** storage rings with many quadrupoles,the conventional BBA procedure is time-consuming,particularly in the commissioning phase,because of the necessary iterative *** addition,the conventional BBA method can be affected by strong coupling and the nonlinearity of the storage ring *** this study,a novel method based on a neural network was proposed to determine the golden orbit in a much shorter time with reasonable *** golden orbit can be used directly for operation or adopted as a starting point for conventional *** method was demonstrated in the HLS-II storage ring for the first time through simulations and online *** results of the experiments showed that the golden orbit obtained using this new method was consistent with that obtained using the conventional *** development of this new method and the corresponding experiments are reported in this paper.

A Johann-type X-ray spectrometer was successfully developed at the hard X-ray branch(in-vacuum undulator with a 24-mm periodic length)of the energy material beamline(E-line)at the Shanghai synchrotron radiation Facility(SSRF).This spectrometer was utilized to implement X-ray emission spectroscopy(XES),high-energy resolution fluorescence-detected X-ray absorption spectroscopy(HERFD-XAS),and resonant inelastic X-ray *** spherically bent crystals were positioned on the respective vertical 500-mm-diameter Rowland circles,adopting an area detector to increase the solid angle to 1.75%of 4πsr,facilitating the study of low-concentrate systems under complex reaction *** under the atmosphere pressure,the spectrometer covers the energy region from 3.5 to 18 keV,with the Bragg angle ranging from 73°to 86°during vertical *** offers a promised energy resolution of sub-eV(XES)and super-eV(HERFD-XAS).Generally,these comprehensive core-level spectroscopy methods based on hard X-rays at the E-line with an extremely high photon flux can meet the crucial requirements of a green energy ***,they provide substantial support for scientific advances in fundamental research.

We systematically study the electronic structure of a kagome superconductor CsV_(3)Sb_(5)at different temperatures coveringboth its charge density wave state and normal state with angle-resolved photoemission *** observe thatthe V-shaped band aroundГshows three different behaviors,referred to as a/a',βandγ,mainly at different *** investigations confirm that these bands are all from the same bulk Sb-p_(z)origin,but they are quite sensitiveto the sample surface conditions mainly modulated by ***,the intriguing temperature dependent electronicbehavior of the band nearГis affected by the sample surface condition,rather than intrinsic electronic behavior originatingfrom the phase *** result systematically reveals the confusing electronic structure behavior of the energy bandsaroundГ,facilitating further exploration of the novel properties in this material.

Chloride solid electrolytes possess multiple advantages for the construction of safe,energy-dense allsolid-state sodium batteries,but presently the chlorides with sufficiently high cost-competitiveness for commercialization almost all exhibit low Na-ion conductivities of around 10^(-5)S cm^(-1)or ***,we report a chloride solid electrolyte,Na_(2.7)ZFCl_(5.3)O_(0.7),which reaches a Na-ion conductivity of 2.29×10^(-4)S cm^(-1)at 25℃without involving overly expensive raw materials such as rare-earth chlorides or Na_(2)*** addition to the efficient ion transport,Na_(2.7)ZrCl_(5.3)O_(0.7)also shows an excellent deformability surpassing that of the widely studied Na_(3)PS_(4),Na_(3)SbS_(4),and Na_(2)ZrCl_(6)solid *** combination of these advantages allows the all-solid-state cell based on Na_(2.7)ZrCl_(5.3)O_(0.7)and NaCrO_(2)to realize stable room-temperature cycling at a much higher specific current than those based on other non-viscoelastic chloride solid electrolytes in literature(120 mA g^(-1)vs.12-55 mA g^(-1));after 100 cycles at such a high rate,the Na_(2.7)ZFCl_(5.3)O_(0.7)-based cell can still deliver a discharge capacity of 80 mAh g^(-1)at25℃.

This highlight draws inspiration from a recent publication in Science where Zhang and co-workers [1] from Nanjing University of Science and Technology reported a novel multifunctional polyester reverse osmosis(RO) membrane and its application in seawater desalination. This research represents a notable advancement in the field, as polyester membranes may potentially compete with state-of-the-art polyamide RO membranes in the mainstream market.
