In high temperature cuprate superconductors,it was found that the superfluid density decreases with the increase of hole *** natural question is whether there exists normal fluid in the superconducting state in the overdoped *** this paper,we have carried out high-resolution ultra-low temperature laser-based angle-resolved photoemission measurements on a heavily overdoped Bi2212 sample with a T_(c) of 48 *** find that this heavily overdoped Bi2212 remains in the strong coupling regime with 2Δ_(0)/(k_(B)T_(c))=*** single-particle scattering rate is very small along the nodal direction(~5 meV) and increases as the momentum moves from the nodal to the antinodal regions.A hard superconducting gap opening is observed near the antinodal region with the spectral weight at the Fermi level fully suppressed to *** normal fluid is found to be negligibly small in the superconducting state of this heavily overdoped *** results provide key information to understand the high T_(c) mechanism in the cuprate superconductors.

High-performance photodetectors hold promising potential in optical communication and imaging ***,conventional counterparts are suffering narrow detection range,high power consumption,and poor polarization *** originating from switchable polarization in ferroelectrics can be used to optimize the photo-to-electric procedure and improve the photodetection *** this regard,we constructed a configuration by integrating 2-dimensional molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))with ferroelectric lithium niobate(LiNbO_(3)),resulting in the MoS_(2)/LiNbO_(3)heterostructured *** from the pyroelectric effect of LiNbO_(3),the limitation of bandgap on the detection range can be broken,thus broadening the response band of the detector to 365 to 1,064 nm,as well as enabling the self-powered ***,high carrier mobility and decent light absorbance of MoS_(2)introduce robust light-matter interactions with the underlying LiNbO_(3),leading to ultrafast rise/fall times of≈150μs/250μs and switching ratios of up to≈***,the highest responsivity,specific detectivity,and external quantum efficiency achieved were 17.3 A·W^(-1),4.3×10^(11)Jones,and 4,645.78%,***,because of the anisotropy of the spontaneous-polarized LiNbO_(3)substrate,the photocurrent of the device achieved a dichroic ratio of 7.42,comparing favorably to most MoS_(2)-based *** work demonstrates the integration potential between ferroelectric LiNbO_(3)and 2-dimensional materials for high-performance photodetection.

Short-duration heavy rainfall(SHR),as delineated by the national Meteorological Center of the China Me-teorological Administration,is characterized by hourly rainfall amounts no less than 20.0 *** is one of the most common convective weather phenomena that can cause severe ***-range forecasting of SHR is an important part of operational severe weather *** the present study,an improved objective SHR forecasting scheme was developed by adopting the ingredients-based methodology and using the fuzzy logic *** 1.0°×1.0°national Centers for Environmental Prediction(NCEP)final analysis data and the ordinary rainfall(0.1-19.9 mm h-1)and SHR observational data from 411 stations were used in the improved *** best lifted index,the total precipitable water,the 925 hPa specific humidity(Q 925),and the 925 hPa divergence(DIV 925)were selected as predictors based on objective *** distributed membership functions of predictors were obtained based on relative frequency *** weights of predictors were also objectively *** with a typhoon SHR case and a spring SHR case show that the main possible areas could be captured by the improved *** of SHR forecasts within 96 hours with NCEP global forecasts 1.0°×1.0°data initiated at 08:00 Beijing Time during the warm seasons in 2015 show the results were improved from both deterministic and probabilistic *** study provides an objectively feasible choice for short-range guidance forecasts of *** scheme can be applied to other convective phenomena.

A recent study by Liu et al.(2020)suggested that due to the saturation of equatorially trapped planetary waves with different dynamical types,temporal periods,meridional and baroclinic modes,complex layer structures of vertical velocity shear and hence turbulent mixing could frequently occur in the thermocline of the eastern equatorial *** investigated the occurrence of the interior turbulent mixing as indicated by shear instabilities,above the Equatorial Undercurrent(EUC)core at three equatorial sites along 140°W,170°W,and 165°E,respectively,based mainly on data from the Tropical Atmosphere and Ocean(TAO)mooring *** found that turbulent mixing bursts persisted in the thermocline of all three ***,the interior turbulent mixing layers(ITMLs)could occur in probability of approximately 68%,53%,and 48%at the three sites,*** overall occurrence probability shows obvious and similar biannual variations at 140°W and 170°W,which is higher in boreal from late summer to winter and lower in ***,the ITMLs are primarily located above the EUC core and prevail in deeper(shallower)layers from late summer to winter(spring).Most ITMLs(70%)lasted for hours to 3 days,and a few of them(15%)for more than 7 *** thicknesses of ITMLs were concentrated between 15 and 55 *** 165°E,the vertical distribution of ITML occurrence probability was different from that at 140°W and 170°W,as it did not show a preference for depths;the durations of ITMLs are short(also from hours to several days)and their thicknesses were between 5 and 25 *** properties,particularly the high occurrence probability,and short durations demonstrated the persistence of thermocline mixing in the western to eastern equatorial Pacific thermocline and confirmed the generation mechanism by persistent equatorial waves as well.

Precisely acquiring the timing information of individual X-ray photons is important in both fundamental research and practical applications. The timing precision of commonly used X-ray single-photon detectors remains in the range of one hundred picoseconds to microseconds. In this work, we report on high-timing-precision detection of single X-ray photons through the fast transition to the normal state from the superconductive state of superconducting nanowires. We successfully demonstrate a free-running X-ray single-photon detector with a timing resolution of 20.1 ps made of 100-nm-thick niobium nitride film with an active area of 50 μm by 50 μm. By using a repeated differential timing measurement on two adjacent X-ray single-photon detectors, we demonstrate a precision of 0.87 ps in the arrival-time difference of X-ray photon measurements. Therefore, our work significantly enhances the timing precision in X-ray photon counting, opening a new niche for ultrafast X-ray photonics and many associated applications.

The coupling between wind stress perturbations and sea surface temperature(SST)perturbations induced by tropical instability waves(TIWs)in the Pacific Ocean has been revealed previously and proven crucial to both the atmosphere and ***,an overlooked fact by previous studies is that the loosely defined“TIWs”actually consist of two modes,including the Yanai wave-based TIW on the equator(hereafter eTIW)and the Rossby wave-based TIW off the equator(hereafter vTIW).Hence,the individual feedbacks of the wind stress to the bimodal TIWs remain *** this study,individual coupling relationships are established for both eTIW and v TIW,including the relationship between the TIW-induced SST perturbations and two components of wind stress perturbations,and the relationship between the TIW-induced wind stress perturbation divergence(curl)and the downwind(crosswind)TIW-induced SST *** show that,due to different distributions of eTIW and vTIW,the coupling strength induced by the eTIW is stronger on the equator,and that by the vTIW is stronger off the *** results of any of eTIW and vTIW are higher than those of the loosely defined *** further investigated how well the coupling relationships remained in several widely recognized oceanic general circulation models and fully coupled climate ***,the coupling relationships cannot be well represented in most numerical ***,we confirmed that higher resolution usually corresponds to more accurate ***,the coupling models established in this study are complementary to previous research and can be used to refine the oceanic and coupled climate models.

During the course of ionospheric heating experiments, researchers at the European Incoherent Scatter Scientific Association (EISCAT) observed an apparent electron density enhancement. The enhancement extended over a wide range of altitudes, above the reflection altitude of the high-frequency pump wave. However, whether this enhancement actually corresponds to a true enhancement in electron density remains an open question. When the dispersion relation of ion acoustic waves is followed, the frequency ratio of the enhanced ion line to the background ion line suggests that the profile of the effective ion mass may have remained unchanged. Furthermore, the solar radio flux and ion drift velocity indicate no significant changes in the ion species and their densities. In conclusion, the electron density enhancement observed at EISCAT should not, in fact, be considered a true enhancement.

Atlantic meridional overturning circulation(AMOC)plays an important role in transporting heat meridionally in the Earth’s climate system and is also a key metrical tool to verify oceanic general circulation *** OMIP(Ocean Model Intercomparison Project phase 1 and 2)simulations with LICOM3(version 3 of the LASG/IAP Climate System Ocean Model)developed at the State key laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical fluid Dynamics(LASG),institute of Atmospheric physics(IAP),are compared in this *** simulations well reproduce the fundamental characteristics of the AMOC,but the OMIP1 simulation shows a significantly stronger AMOC than the OMIP2 *** the LICOM3 configurations are identical between these two experiments,any differences between them must be attributed to the surface forcing *** analysis suggests that sea surface salinity(SSS)differences should be mainly responsible for the enhanced AMOC in the OMIP1 simulation,but sea surface temperature(SST)also play an unignorable role in modulating *** the North Atlantic,where deep convection occurs,the SSS in OMIP1 is more saline than that in *** find that in the major region of deep convection,the change of SSS has more significant effect on density than the change of *** a result,the SSS was more saline than that in OMIP2,leading to stronger deep convection and subsequently intensify the *** conduct a series of numerical experiments with LICOM3,and the results confirmed that the changes in SSS have more significant effect on the strength of AMOC than the changes in SST.

Understanding the nature of quantum chromodynamics(QCD)matter is important but challenging due to the presence of nonperturbative dynamics under extreme *** construct a holographic model describing the gluon sector of QCD at finite temperatures in the non-perturbative *** equation of state as a function of temperature is in good accordance with the lattice QCD ***,the Polyakov loop and the gluon condensation,which are proper order parameters to capture the deconfinement phase transition,also agree quantitatively well with the lattice QCD *** obtain a strong first-order confinement/deconfinement phase transition at Tc=276.5 Me V that is consistent with the lattice QCD *** on our model for a pure gluon hidden sector,we compute the stochastic gravitational waves and primordial black hole(PBH)productions from this confinement/deconfinement phase transition in the early *** resulting stochastic gravitational-wave backgrounds are found to be within detectability in the International Pulsar Timing Array and Square Kilometre Array in the near future when the associated productions of PBHs saturate the current observational bounds on the PBH abundances from the LIGO-Virgo-Collaboration O3 data.
