We study the effect of particle size polydispersity(δ) on the melting transition(T*), local ordering, solid–liquid coexistence phase and dynamics of two-dimensional Lennard–Jones fluids up to moderate polydispersity by means of computer simulations. The particle sizes are drawn at random from the Gaussian(G) and uniform(U) distribution *** these systems, we further consider two different kinds of particles, viz., particles having the same mass irrespective of size, and in the other case the mass of the particle scales with its size. It is observed that with increasing polydispersity,the value of T*initially increases due to improved packing efficiency(φ) followed by a decrease and terminates at δ ≈8%(U-system) and 14%(G-system) with no significant difference for both mass types. The interesting observation is that the particular value at which φ drops suddenly coincides with the peak of the heat capacity(CP) curve, indicating a transition. The quantification of local particle ordering through the hexatic order parameter(Q_6), Voronoi construction and pair correlation function reveals that the ordering decreases with increasing δ and T. Furthermore, the solid–liquid coexistence region for the G-system is shown to be comparatively wider in the T –δ plane phase diagram than that for the U system. Finally, the study of dynamics reveals that polydisperse systems relax faster compared to monodisperse systems;however, no significant qualitative differences, depending on the distribution type and mass polydispersity, are observed.

Microcombs have enabled a host of cutting-edge applications from metrology to communications that have garnered significant attention in the last ***,due to the thermal instability of the microresonator,additional control devices like auxiliary lasers are indispensable for single-soliton generation in some ***,the increased system complexity would be too overwhelming for dual-microcomb ***,we put forward a novel approach to mitigate the thermal instability and generate the dual-microcomb using a compact *** process is akin to mode-division multiplexing,as the dual-microcombs are generated by pumping the dual-mode of a single Si_(3)N_(4) microresonator with a continuous-wave *** numerical simulations and experimental measurements indicate that this innovative technique could offer a straightforward way to enlarge the soliton existence range,allowing entry into the multistability regime and triggering another microcomb alongside the main soliton *** outcome not only shines new light on the interaction mechanism of microresonator modes but also provides an avenue for the development of dual-microcomb-based ranging and low phase noise microwave generation.

With the explosion of sensory data in the Internet of Things(Io T) era, conventional machine vision systems are becoming increasingly difficult to meet the requirements of high efficiency, low energy consumption, and low latency due to their inherent shortcomings of separate sensing, memory, and computing units. Inspired by the retina and neuromorphic computing, the sensing-memory-computing integrated vision system(SMCVS) that features low power consumption, low latency, and high parallelism has been considered a promising technology to surpass the von Neumann architecture and realize strong artificial ***, novel materials like two-dimensional semiconductors and quantum dots with novel optoelectronic performance provide hardware carriers for implementing integrated sensing-memory-computing architectures,attracting considerable attention. This paper reviews the recent research progress in bioinspired vision systems in terms of biomimetic mechanisms, design principles, computational architectures, and ***, the biomimetic mechanisms are illustrated to guide the design of high-performance artificial visual perception systems. Then the research progress of optoelectronic-synapse-based bioinspired vision systems in the device principles and applications including image filtering, color recognition, visual adaptation, and motion detection are summarized. Finally, the challenges and future developing directions of the SMCVS are provided regarding bionic application, architecture design, and device fabrication.

Whispering gallery mode optical microresonators represent a promising avenue for realizing optical analogs of coherent light–atom interactions, circumventing experimental complexities. All-optical analogs of Autler–Townes splitting have been widely demonstrated, harnessing coupled optical microresonators, also known as photonic molecules, wherein the strong coupling between resonant fields enables energy level splitting. Here, we report the characterizations of Autler–Townes splitting in waveguide-coupled microring dimers featuring mismatched *** exploiting backscattering-induced coupling via Rayleigh and Mie scatterers in individual rings, high-order Autler–Townes splitting has been realized, yielding supermode hybridization in a multi-level system. Upon resonance detuning using an integrated phase shifter, intra-cavity coupling-induced splitting becomes almost indistinguishable at the zero-detuning point where the strong inter-cavity coupling counteracts the imbalance of backscattering strengths in individual rings. Through demonstrations on the maturing silicon photonics platform, our findings establish a framework of electrically tunable photonic molecules for coupling-mediated Autler–Townes splitting, offering promising prospects for on-chip signal generation and processing across classical and quantum regimes.

Fast and stable phase control is essential for many applications in optics. Here, we propose an all-fiber all-optical phase modulation scheme based on a Fabry–Perot interferometer(FPI) and an Er/Yb co-doped fiber(EYDF). By using the EYDF as an F-P cavity via rational design, a phase shift with a modulation sensitivity of 0.0312π/mW is introduced to the *** phase shifts in the EYDF consist of a thermal phase shift and a nonlinear phase shift with a ratio of 19:1, and the corresponding temporal responses of the modulation are 204 ms and 2.5 ms, respectively. In addition, the compact FPI is encapsulated to provide excellent stability for the modulator.

A highly sensitive carbon dioxide(CO_(2))sensor based on light-induced thermoelastic spectroscopy(LITES)utilizing a selfdesigned low-frequency quartz tuning fork(QTF)and a fiber-coupled multipass cell(MPC)is reported in this *** QTF with a low resonant frequency of 8675 Hz and a high Q factor of 11,675.64 was used to improve its energy accumulation time and the sensor’s signal *** MPC with the fiber-coupled structure and optical length of 40 m was adopted to significantly increase the gas absorbance and reduce the optical alignment difficulty as well as improve the robustness of the sensor system.A distributed feedback(DFB),near-infrared diode laser with an emission wavelength of 1.57μm was used as an excitation *** experimental results showed that this CO_(2)-LITES sensor had an excellent linear response to CO_(2) *** minimum detection limitation(MDL)of this CO_(2)-LITES sensor was obtained to be 445.91 ppm,and it could be improved to 47.70 ppm(parts per million)when the integration time of the system reached 500 *** improvement methods for the detection performance of such sensors were also discussed.

The polymer on modulating the crystal's habit is an evolving research in pharmaceutical *** study demonstrates the crystal habit modification of chlorzoxazone(CHZ)by heterogeneous crystallization(HC)in the binary solvent acetonitrile-ethanol(A-E(1:1))in the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidine(PVP)at concentrations of 0.50,0.75,and 1.00 wt%.The A-E(1:1)and PVP in HC experiments influenced to change the shape of crystals from needle to plate shape and reduced the crystal size producing a lower aspect ratio(in the range of 1.5-2.3).In the presence of PVP,the CHZ size distribution is 65-78μm which tends to enhance the powder flow-ability of CHZ crystals and as the PVP concentration increases,the nucleation rate *** solubility of size-reduced CHZ crystals at different pH is found to be improved by 1.2-1.4 ***,HC is deemed effective in modifying the physicochemical attributes of CHZ.

The seismic behavior of a partially filled rigid rectangular liquid tank is investigated under short- and long-duration ground motions. A finite element model is developed to analyze the liquid domain by using four-noded quadrilateral elements. The competency of the model is verified with the available results. Parametric studies are conducted for the dynamic parameters of the base-isolated tank, using a lead rubber bearing to evaluate the optimum damping and time period of the isolator. The application of base isolation has reduced the total and impulsive hydrodynamic components of pressure by 80 to 90 percent, and base shear by 15 to 95 percent, depending upon the frequency content and duration of the considered earthquakes. The sloshing amplitude of the base-isolated tank is reduced by 18 to 94 percent for most of the short-duration earthquakes, while it is increased by 17 to 60 percent for the majority of the long-duration earthquakes. Furthermore, resonance studies are carried out through a long-duration harmonic excitation to obtain the dynamic behavior of non-isolated and isolated tanks, using a nonlinear sloshing model. The seismic responses of the base-isolated tank are obtained as higher when the excitation frequency matches the fundamental sloshing frequency rather than the isolator frequency.
